Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Zpst bdif?

Here’s the prototype list I’ve been testing. Beartic and DCL give as an out vs goth (make them keep paying the retreat cost) and Ross (same idea)
Maxed twins engine for obvious reasons. Two switch because gatr stuck active is something to be avoided. (Gatr is only an OHKO for badboar, RDL, and Magnezone, it’s grass weak not lightning weak)

It’s been testing rather well so far. For a metagame with little goth/ross, I feel that getting rid of the 1-1 beartic for Zekrom and a third catcher is ideal. Yes, it falls behind to Zekrom and Reshiram, but that’s the idea: it comes back in the end.

Cool thanks,

Have you been testing against tyRam, Primetime, and ZPST lists with two or three Max Potions?

My primetime runs 2 max potions THIS format, to be honest.
ZPST, no, I figured they'd use eviolite but not max potion.
Tyram, The list i was testing against ran one max potion, but max junk arms.

I would honestly just suggest ultra consistency. If you are looking for stuff to help outside of consistency cards, the following might be of some use:

-Defender: This card can help you force the tyRam player to either a) miss a turn in the prize exchange or b) over extend their resources to take a prize. (Obviously Eviolite will take this card's place post-Regionals)
-Lost Remover: If DCE and Rescue are prevalent in your area, this card can help immensely. This can help to set them back in terms of recover and damage on the board.
-Black Belt: I know most people will laugh at me. However, IMO, good tyRam players will first attempt to clear your board of energy and then attempt to remove all Zekroms from play while slightly ignoring Tornadus because it does not hit hard enough. Now, often times (at least in my experience) ZPST goes up 2 or 3 prizes early. Then they trade a prize or two. Then tyRam sweeps teh late game because ZPST has run out of attackers that can hit hard enough. A single Black Belt can surprise enough tyRam players to allow you to take that crucial fifth or sixth prize with Tornadus on a Typhlosion or Reshiram, and you can get back into the game.

Again, I would mostly focus on consistency, but these cards can give tyRam some issues.

To preface this, I haven't had the chance to test out anything NV yet thanks to various things going on IRL, but I've been really curious how Kyurem is going to do in a Speed Blastzel list.

Basic strategy is you (hopefully) have 2 Floatzel and a Blastoise benched by turn and you have Kyurem active. You use Kyurem to soften up the opponent's bench and then you bring up Blastoise and snipe pretty much anything in the format. It should have a good matchup against a lot of things in the format, but here's the catch: it's basically just Blastzel with one different Pokemon in it, and Blastzel just isn't doing that hot in the format already. Have either of you had a chance to try it out yet? I'm going to probably proxy it up before league this week, if I have time.

I have not tried that out in testing yet. I have focused on the Gatr version of the deck. I think it is an interesting idea with some potential.

Good luck with it. I would love for BlastZel to be come more playable.

I've got everything except for the NV cards sitting in a deck builder list on TCGO. Once NV hits, i'll open about 100ish packs, and go to town. (Yes, i'm THAT dedicated)

The list I was planning on using was something like:

3-3 Floatzel
3-2-3 Blastoise
3 Kyurem
1~2 cleffa

Staple Speed T/S/S

Water/DCE

I'm going to try running SPST (Stunfish(fighting)/Pachirisu/Shaymin/Tornadus) next week, just for the hell of it.

Dude, really? Why do your posts have to be so rude black belt CAN work as a counter is it the best one? Absolutely not but it's not that bad.

Actually, black belt is a bad counter for goth. I really can't see how y'all are still trying to argue this.

Just accept the bad matchup and move on. Work on consistency rather than putting crap like black belt into your deck.

^ I'd say that magby is prolly the only thing that can help the goth matchup. Even then, you have to use it at the right moment and it still is limited.

Yeah I know black belt sucks I should jave probably said that better. What I ment to say was it is a TECH but it didn't work

I don't like flips but I run scoop up anyway because heads is really goof at times. I play one seeker just for donk and pachi shaymin redo. And I like switch for critter starts or catchered zek.

Eeletrik might end up helping Zekrom if you can find the room.

Eeletrik is going to make Zekrom the most broken and consistent deck in the format. It hits fast and doesn't slow down. I'm not sure how to integrate it (I don't run ZPST) but when someone does, it's going to be nasty and a huge force to be reckoned with.
