I'm holding an upcoming all common tourney with ER banned. I need help with this deck:
(O ya the new rarities from LC will be applied, so I can use cards like Fossil Gastly.)
Ghosts and Fighters
4 Gastly- fossil 4 Sabrina's Gastly- L10 4 Machop 4 Gligar 2 Tyroge 1 Unown N
4 Gaze 4 Berry 4 GOW 4 Bill 2 Moo Moo Milk 1 Narrow Gym
11 Psychic 11 Fighting
What are your oppinons on this deck? What are some good trainers I should put in? Thanks! [ June 29, 2002, 05:00 AM: Message edited by: Monkey ]

Hmmm... psychic, eh? I'm thinkin' Base Kadabra, all the way, here, but do what you want. As for your trainers, well, the full heal, in perfect honesty, probably won't be of too much use. If you really want to be stat-free, try using miracle berry (from Neo: Genesis- it's an uncommon, as I see you're not afraid to use)- you can just equip it as soon as you get it, and it'll only work when you need it to. Oh- for your healing, two words- "Gold Berry"- trust me that thing will really pull you through in a pinch. That's about all I have to say. Laters.

drop in some moo moo milks and some elms and this should be a good common deck hmm mail from bill should be good to um... why not throw in some suddowoodos from neo genesis they are common and do 30 damage for 1 fighting nrg and 1 colorless nrg and it has 60 hp and the hitmonchan and the hitmonlee from the neo destiny set would work good here as a good basic pk able to hit for 40 damage for 3 fighting nrgs they would do good plus id drop 3 psy nrgs and add 3 fighting other than those fixes your deck is good and ready

It sounds good, but I can't use Elms and Hitmonlees!!!!!!!!!! They are uncommon! Also, I can't keep this an all fighting deck or else what will happen if I run into any decks with all fighting resitance? Anyway- this is my new deck:
3 Gastly (fossil) 3 Sabrina's Gastly- L10 3 Machop 3 Gligar 3 Sudowoodo 2 Tyroge 1 Unown N
4 Gaze 4 Berry 4 GOW 4 Bill 2 Mail From Bill 2 Moo Moo Milk 1 Narrow Gym
10 Psychic (I need the psychic for Sabrina's Gastly!) 12 Fighting
Does it need more help?

I would run a Light Sunflora deck. This card is a monster against an all common deck. Its 80 hp and its 40 damaging attack could easily take down other decks. And I dont think there is that many good common fire cards. Reflected sunlight is always nice too letting you power up other grass pokemon very quikly. Thats just my thought of a good base for a common deck. I also suggest runnning mail from bill.

Girafarig (Genesis) seems like a good card for the format.
You could also try Quagsire (Rev.), Skiploom (Rev.), Dark Octillery (Dest.), or Light Sunflora (Dest.). [Not in the same deck, of course.]

Well this is a bit different of your deck but why donīt you try this:
pokemon(20) 4 Remoraid 3 Dark Octillery 4 Wooper(NG) 3 Guagsire(NR) 3 Gligar(NG)- Of course!!! 3 Hitmonchan(NY)
Trainer(20) 4 Bill 4 Energy Removal 4 Potion 2 Narrow Gym 2 Glamber(best choice without elm or oak) 2 Mail from Bill 2 Pokeball
Energy(20) 13 Water Energy 7 Fighting Energy
This is the typical 20/20/20 deck(20pkmn,20 trainer and 20 energy), itīs a simple strategy but it work.

You are right about if you face someone that is resistant to Fighting... and almost every Pokemon resistant to Fighting is either weak to Elictric or nothing. So I would throw in some Electric.
ONly problem is, there are hardly any good Electric commons... ...!

Okay I will let you figure out the Pokes but don't forget Mantine 60HP and a great attack.
As for trainers well you need to draw to win Pokemon matches and unfortunately you don't at first glance have a lot of choice playing just commons.
But if you think about stripping the deck down so that what you draw is useable I suggest using 4 each of Energy Search and Energy Ark. Gambler is a must as is Bill so 4 of each of them .. that now gives you 16 draw cards .. not bad but use the Gambler only if you must.
I would also add ER but you don't want that
As for Pokes well Starmie and Staryu as commons Mantine too .. have a look again at Water Pokes..
Have fun and good luck
