In all fairness to you Indigo I did not see Joshman's post until after I deleted and posted mine. He posted in between. I apologize.

Look, I just want the topic to be kept alive. The issue that some of you wish to discuss are recent bannings and why they happened. Just start another thread about it. Thats all I'm asking.

It is clear to me that many are going off the topic Indigo, I only singled you out because it looked like it started with you.

You will not be banned for expresing your opinion... only for doing so in a a way that insults or belittles others. But don't side track this topic. Make another please! The rest of you too!

That is all I'm asking!

To be fair I removed my post. I meant no disrespect to you DMTM.

If this post isn't in the correct place, my apologies. If so, please delete it. I'm a little newer than a lot of the players here.

I actually began play/collecting a little over a year ago. I've only experienced two league environments, and I haven't experienced "leetists" in person, and if I did experience them online they were nice to me, for the most part.

Regardless, I don't think what the game is really about needs to be forgotten. While I do understand "leetists" must be very frustrating for those dealing with them, we shouldn't forget the fundamentals of the game; having a good time.

I don't really think anyone or anything is "killing the game." If anything, the attitude that the game is dying will kill the game, eventually.

You may point that I don't really know what I'm talking about, since I haven't seen it for myself, and I admit, I don't. This is just how I see it, from a newer player's perspective. I want to see the game flourish and be successful, just like everyone else does. That's the common ground I think most players of the game have, and should realize; even if we have other disagreements. We are the game, and we should all respect each other for the contribution made towards it, whether the contribution is large or small.

You are correct. I wasn't clear in my first post. I apologize.

quote:
Sure there are "clueless" "1337" players...but i guarentee you that more than 3/4 of the online ones(which is where the "1337" people started...if you want to attack the trashtalking non online players...use a different name than 1337)...
Point taken. Glad to see you agree there are some problematic ones as well.

quote:
...even the most random "1337" people KNOW whats going on...the "1337" people win tournies...its not cause they're all special and intimidate people, its cause they try harder, online...
Ah, see, that is where we disagree. There are a few LOUD ones (yes, online) that do try to incite strife and try to intimidate. And yes, there are those that win that DON'T resort to those tactics to get their point across. It is the ones that do try to intimidate that is the subject of this thread.

quote:
...a ton of people play countless games against the best players in the worlds every day, thats why they win tournies...
No problem with that. In fact, I agree that is the way it needs to be done.

quote:
...thats why they deserve to have there little groups...
Except to the point that their 'little groups' are detrimental to the community at large. Not sure exactly what else you are getting at here.

quote:
...thats why they have a clue...
Okay, sure.

quote:
...but i ask...what kinda clue is it that all the online adult people that have been "hardcore" in the game for 3 years now have?
Huh? Please clarify. I'm not exactly sure what you are trying to ask. If I read you correctly, you are asking what kind of gaming clue us adults have regarding playing the game. Probably far less than the best players. But that is NOT what this thread is about. It is about how some members of the Pokémon community, whether good players or non-players, intereact with the other members. No one group or person deserves to be treated any better or any worse than any other person here. Regardless of how good or bad they play the game, if at all. Period. THAT'S what this is all about.

IndigoMaster: Care to clarify who you are classifying as "adult"?. I really would like to know. I mean, I am legally an adult, but I don't really classify myself as one. I am 20, but tend to act more like I was in my teens, according to many (or like I was three, by those who don't like Pokemon to begin with [Wink] ).

There's quite a lot of bickering in this thread, and I slightly cringe at the thought of replying to it, but I feel I have something to contribute to the original topic.

Obviously, 1337sts aren't just a Pokémon TCG problem. They are a problem of society. Millions of people act like they are better than others, put others down, and brag about their own "skillz". At younger ages, they're called bullies; as adults, they're called jerks. Whatever you want to call them, they're everywhere, and the remaining portion of the population that tries to stay humble has to put up with them.

Now, at a League or tournament, I'm not saying you have to live with these types of people. Take the initiative and tell them they have the wrong type of attitude for where they are and what they're doing. Politely, of course, because you don't want to be hypocritical and act rudely like they sometimes do. Sternly tell 1337ists that they should be more considerate of others and save the trashtalking for their friends, not people they hardly know.

I'd like to refute an arguement right now before someone replies with it: What if they don't listen to me? It's likely to seem that way, but your words were heard and they give the 1337ist the impression that they're not accepted when they're rude. And that's what they're looking for, deep down: acceptance. So by standing up to them, even if it doesn't seem to have an immediate effect, it does make a difference. Hopefully, others will stand up with you and either the 1337ists will change their attitudes, or leave.

The main point I'm trying to make with this post is, don't act like this is a Pokémon-only problem. Know that these types of people are all over the place and they probably act the same way outside of League, tournaments, etc. Try to deal with them the same way you might deal with a bully giving a friend of yours a hard time, but do it considerately.

And PLEASE, don't say that this or any other one thing will "kill" the Pokémon TCG! The only thing that kills this game the most is saying something is killing it.

Yes, this is NOT killing Pokemon. Its the people saying this that is killing Pokemon, IMO.

You have to accept that people are different, you cant throw out someone from a league cuz they have a different attitude towards people. That would make the community one sided and stale. With only the people YOU would like to see in the game left =/...THAT would kill the game. I dont wanna change who I am just to accepted by my Gym Leader or whatever. I wanna be myself and if you dont like it you can go die...
