TGW and Absol - Their Effect on OP

Absol is not that hard to get around.

Those make it easy, plus most good Fighting pokemon are OHKOs or 2HKOs on it.

.

Absol just means that you have to have some sort of answer be it consistancy, extra draw, Furret, Delcatty, Sableye, fast early damage, or using a fighting type as one of your pokemon in your deck. So again you have lots of options..

Sure, there are a lot of ways to counter it. But maybe I don't feel like playing a Fighting deck, which would only really let me choose from about a quarter of the Pokemon (fighting plus another type plus colorless). .

ok can someone please tell me WHY YOU NEED FIGHTING TO COUNTER ABSOL he has a whole entire 70 hp OMIGOSH WOW 70 HP!!!!!!!!! i believe gallade has 130 and do we all play psychic in order to kill him? just curious

yea red face paint decks are still good.
my gastrodon weavile deck (something im sure not many people at all use) works great the only thing it has real trouble with is gallade (the card that everyones using right now...).

im not sure but wasnt raieggs and ambush red face paint at sometime, like before nationals or something?

I COMPLETELY agree, ambush raieggs speed spread... the list goes on. So many things were rogue before someone played it and won.

I feel one reason we hear so much disgust about the card is because it forces players to play differently, and possibly play better. It's one of the few cards that can force your opponent's hand (and skill) turn 1. You have to play correctly and be smart about how to combat an Absol threat because you can't just setup and walk right through it. It does take some luck on your side and not having the right cards discarded, but it primarily takes skill knowing when to play cards and when to hold onto them for use later and it takes skill to build your deck so you can come back from an Absol threat.

I think Absol's effect on the game is so large right now because there aren't many answers to it. You don't have Pidgeot/Magcargo to grab the exact cards you need in the case a copy of it is discarded. You don't have a way to bring many trainers back from the discard pile if it is discarded. The format is very weak to disruption as potent as Absol at the moment but I think that gives us hope that with the release of each new set, the format could patch that hole and lower the potency of that kind of disruption.

I look forward to the release of Great Encounters. I look forward to seeing people find ways to counter Absol and I look forward to seeing people find new ways to abuse Absol. This is a game anyways and Absol is just another card people can use and abuse.

Remember this is just a game, and try your best to have fun. Because that is what is important. Not how broken a piece of cardboard is.

Because, Fighting OHKOs it easier.

Anything that does 70 will do the trick, but Fighting only needs 50...

That's kind of funny because more than half of those (in bold) you just made up on the spot.

You can say Claydol is a good counter to Absol but until you've played it at States, let's refrain from making assumptions.

I've been to ten (10) city championships. Absol has only won ten (10) of them. Thus, absol is clearly not broken.

Both of these cards have negitve and positive effects on the game. TGW is like the new Admin and most everyone adapted to beat or at least survive that card. With Absol, yes it is a annoying disruption card, and yes there many solutions to fixing that. Myself I see no problem with these cards as they dont bug me too much and when they do i normally can get past it.

Absol is like the old AMEX adds, never leave home without it!

I can not see having a competive deck without them.

Becoming dependent on will only get you screwed in the long run. The smart thing to do is not to run absol but run a strong counter and look for things to play here in the future. Absol is the right now card but it may not being in the next few sets.

What about Magmortar, or Mario, or Infernape, or Quicketune, Hurricane, Electivire, or Blissey? There are many competitive decks that don't play Absol.

Yeah, let me draw SIX Brand NEW cards from my 1-2 card hand. Every turn from here on out.

Ver Nice Supes.

Assuming, and I'm sorry if I'm wrong, that was a poke at me, you'd be sadly mistaken. I don't like Kricketune yes, but I don't see any reason why I shouldn't be able to beat it. I don't play the same things as other people(at least not intentionally) because I believe in orginality-I'm not forcing anyone to do it too, that's just my belief. Also, I frequently play Absol and TGW. I am currently building a Gallade deck actually, with a bit of rogue twist.

Again, if it was not your intent to mock me, I apologize. But I do feel I should have addressed the issue here, so as not to have unpleasant comments cycling about me.

Thanks for your time,
The Supes

Scizor: Your a minority. A lot of the people that come online that speak of auto-win, auto-loss, broken, and unplayable cards haven't tested the cards out to even have an educated opinion on the subject. Consider my comment addressed to the majority of players out there that don't play test with the japanese cards before they come out.

Aside from Magmortar and Blissey, I don't see competitive decks in there. And several Magmortar varieties play Absol.

Yeah, I know that.

But, I didn't say "Auto win" or 'you'd be a noob if you didn't play' for those decks. They are competitive.

Some more than others, but they are all competitive.

I find Bronzong is a rather decent counter. Its pokemon power let you draw, and its attack confuses Absol and leaves it with only 20 HP.

Doesnt that attack take 3 energy with 2 being metal? Kinda hard to counter an absol after it has 3 turns to rip apart your hand IMO.
