Claydol abuse

this card needs to be toned down, because there was a lot of it at a tourney i just went too, its was abused to the point where at one time in a match i was in, i was counting the cards he drew and cycled and he went through 3/4 of the deck in about 3 turns, and thats serious abuse, yeah it was a battle road but i mean even in battle road, it should be noticed that the card has widespread abuse, anyone else notice this ?

if this is in the wrong area, appologies

As if there's any other real draw in this format right now. Nothing really equaled steven last season.

Well, there IS Uxie as well, but that's really a only once kind of thing.

In any case, the whole "Claydol draws you at least 3 cards a turn no problem" is rather ridiculous, yes. There are plenty of supporters that can come close to that effect, but only once per turn. Now... think a deck that counters powers will do well in this kind of format? ;)

so now that we're done griping on gardevoir and gallade, we'll move on to claydol.

yes, this card is in any deck that it can fit in. currently i use bronzong, but it's a metal deck. in the battle between victory and creativity, we don't all lean towards the latter.

I was thinking the same thing.

I guess the first question Cypher, do you use Claydol at all?

If you do, what is the point of your rant?

If you don't, why not?

I use claydols in all my decks, just to speed up draw power. Can't really argue that it is indeed good for that. Plus the ability to still use a Supporter, you can't lose there.

Hopefully, this does not turn into a 'Ban Claydol' topic.

if you find it that big of a pain, just play one of the snipey snipey sort of decks that can be made now/when stormfront comes out (Raichu lv.x likes claydols. a lot)

the ONLY problem with Claydol right now is that they are so difficult/expensive to get hold of.

They should just ban Claydol and put a rule into the rulebook that says, "Once per turn, a player may put up to two cards from their hand to the bottom of the deck, then draw until they have six cards in hand." It would make the gameplay the same without Claydol clutter.

yeah im not saying ban it outright, im just saying limit its power, having 3 on the bench and using all 3 per turn is a little broken, one is fine, but having three on the bench at any time is just plain abuse, no i dont use claydol, im just going to start using dragonite and metagross to deal with this garbage until something arises

If someone has 3 of them on the bench, then use Dusknoir, a warp point, or snipe it. Claydols are great draw power, but they are terrible to have out and easy kills. Stop whining because someone used a card you don't have. Claydol is a GREAT card, one of the best in this format. If you don't use it, the only complaint you have is that you don't use it. There are many ways around it, and many ways to get rid of it.

im not whining, im referencing it from a TO's point of view yes if you would have read my previous posts, im going to use metagross and dragonite to take care of them, i have no problem taking care of them, because theres always a way around things, just when you go to a tourney and have no clue how widely that ability is abused, and didnt pack anything to counter it, then theres a problem, especially when EVERYONE is using it

I hope you can flip well :)

turncruel with 1-1 starmie anyone? no more claydols i guarantee. only problem is that turncruel has a hard time at tourneys... being as it is only tier 2.

Cards like claydol are GOOD for the format because they greatly increase consistency and make the game more about skill, strategy, and deck-building because most decks should be able to pull of their strategy with the help of Claydol.

Holon Engine anyone? Pidgeot? Delcatty?

Claydol is basically the draw engine of this format, no reason to ban using him or anything. Besides, if you're letting your opponent get out all three of them, then yeah, of course they're going to be cycling through their deck pretty fast.

Every format there's some type of draw card that everyone thinks is broken. It's good for the game though. I mean, do you really want a game without draw?

Buut if you're sick of Claydol and don't want to use it, just run a sniping deck. You'll beat it.

Claydol is great for the game.

gardy was bad because it was only good in gardy/gallade.

claydol makes so many 'setup decks' viable.

without claydol we'd be back to t2 blissey/magmortar.

Or, you can get lucky and draw 2 of them from your Staff swag bag italian GE packs. Cosmo forza FTW!

Kinda sad I sold my last GE sealed box at Worlds, but I already had a few Clays from earlier.
