Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Claydol abuse

Yes, Claydol can be annoying at times, but theres really nothing you can do to stop people from playing it. It's basicly the only form of draw so far. Sure there are others but they all pale in comparison to Claydol. Run something sniping, or warp points. If they have a claydol active its usually gonna be stuck active for a while.

To be honest, Claydol is overrated. I don't use any in any of my decks, and I came up 3-1 in the first ever BR. I think ever deck right now needs Cynthia's Feeling though.

claydol is why i want:
1.cessation crystal (maybe)
2.cursed stone (it een out the game for disruption)
3.revamped lunisol (same as they had for DX, but maybe raise the damage output by 20 on the lunatone, but his hp from body up to 100 and make solrock do 20+10 to the bench for each lunatone. and change the types effected by the powers that the LM ones offered, may as well re-print them the same other than that)
4.reversal
5. POW (POW energy to dol, ko it, or throw it active and ko it.)

though this may just be because i with i played lunasol when it was playable... if something like this happened, i'd so play it.

Claydol is rated extremely appropriately. It's one of the best cards ever printed, and definitely one of the best cards in the format.

Of course there are decks that don't NEED claydol, and you could probably do well without it sometimes- but that certainly doesn't make a card overrated.

It has an AWESOME pokepower, it's only a stage 1, works from the bench, has a decent starter (it can at least draw up and only has 1 retreat). Why is it overrated?

It's 4 slots to get a free X cards per turn. How is that NOT amazing?

im not whining, im referencing it from a TO's point of view yes if you would have read my previous posts, im going to use metagross and dragonite to take care of them, i have no problem taking care of them, because theres always a way around things, just when you go to a tourney and have no clue how widely that ability is abused, and didnt pack anything to counter it, then theres a problem, especially when EVERYONE is using it

You're right, I've seen that card in just about every deck I've come across. But I think that I've seen Bebe's search and Night maintenance in like every deck too, they should be banned as well. Same thing for Baltoy, Roseannes and hey, even switch-these cards must be banned, they are breaking the format...:nonono:

Well for one, it's a huge target on the bench. If I see a Claydol on the bench, i'm going to kill it. As opposed to a Supporter, where I can play it and not have to worry about it. Whenever I see someone throwing a Claydol randomly in their deck to have as a draw engine it makes me face palm. Claydol works great for that Pokepower, but it's not practical as an attacker. It really serves no secondary purpose. 40 damage for F+C, isn't that great.

It doesn't have to have a secondary purpose. Solid draw is a good enough purpose. Who needs to attack with it when it is supplying you with your attackers? Sure, it can be sniped, but that's a risk most people are willing to take simply because it's power is too good to pass up in many decks.
Poeple don't often just toss it in randomly. If it were in AMU, that would be random, and not serve much of a purpose, but in almost anything else, Luxray, Torterra, Empoleon, etc, it is a necessary element. It's hard to win when you can't find the cards you need. That's why Plox killed almost everything last format. Without Claydol/other powers, they couldn't stand the onslaught.

If you use bebe's you can probably use claydol in your deck.

Also, who cares about the subpar attack? If you're attacking with him then he isn't working properly ^^

I just find it really annoying how many people packed 4 claydols in there deck at a turney that I went to and if you don't have a sniping deck it makes it just a little bit hard to get get rid of it.

4 Claydols...?!

...After a bit, wouldn't they be drawing nothing but Claydols? Sounds a bit... counter productive to me, but whatever. :/

I wondered if anyone would notice that you COULD rock 4 Cynthias and alot of BallCards and end up getting stuff quickly. I have a couple of Claydol-less decks that I'm trying out just to see if it can be done.

I'm seeing alot of badly placed Uxies everywhere. That's fine. I'll take that prize.

Where have you been? Did you miss the release of GE? This card has been played ever sence states

My torterra Level X eats claydol whole. To me....my goal is to get Claydol up and kill it....fast. Cripple their draw early game.....now that's yummy.

The truth about Claydol. Broken, not ban-worthy

OK, sheep, first of all, no one is gonna take your Claydol away. So you can just agree that it IS indeed broken.

If a card is in EVERY single deck of EVERY single top 4 of EVERY event, and any deck not running it is considered "rogue", then yes, it's broken. If you have to build your deck to either out-Dol, or answer Dol, then, yes, it's broken...

If i'm wrong about it not being in every top 4 deck this season, please show me.

I'm not calling for bannings, just stating a fact. It's not lack of creativity to use the best draw card in the format, just good sense. But is sure is boring. It really punishes you for not playing one of the 3-4 net-decked, tier one decks. Because contrary to what ryanvergel says...

Cards like claydol are GOOD for the format because they greatly increase consistency and make the game more about skill, strategy, and deck-building because most decks should be able to pull of their strategy with the help of Claydol.

...Claydol really pushes the tier one decks so far above any others, that it is VERY difficult to compete. This actually makes the game LESS about skill, strategy and deck-building. I've seen some Kingdra deck on auto-pilot. Sure, it would be almost as good without Dol, but seriously, AUTO-PILOT!

I dont get how it pushes the Tier 1 decks far above others, the other tiers run it too lol(2,3).
Bottom line is, if you want your deck to run smoothly then run claydol.

Claydol is broken. Plain and simple.

Any Pokemon that you simply must play in every deck because it is simply too good to pass up has serious brokenness issues.

The whole Meta-game revolves around Claydol. Either you're using it, or you're trying to disable/obliterate it.

That's a better way of putting it.

That's so bland.

Claydol sucks a whole lot of fun out of playing the game. About half of it.

Look at the Deck help section. 90% of all deck fixes are "add 2-2 Claydol". Deckbuilding is sorta dumbed down.

When 2-2 lines of Claydol aren't required to win, the game will be in much better shape.

Edit: lol, TPC sure is coming up with a lot of Claydol counters, though. Look at the Ampharos/Manectric combo in Galactic's Conquest. Ouch to power reliant decks.

People keep coming up with this sort of threads. First it was the holong engine, then gardy and gallade (altough that was really broken) and now it is claydol. Maybe it is a lack of creativity in making threads.
