Where are the collectors at?

The title says it all really, I am on pokegym a lot and am tired of reading about decks, claydols, uxies. Anyway I wanted to start a thread to find the collectors of the cards, rather than the players. So I thought maybe i could just start a thread where people could talk about their collections, or if they wanted info on cards i could help out with that too. Since i am bored in this last month of summer and don't want to read anymore deck building threads, I could help anyone who wanted to know about cards or just talk about rare tournament cards/promos/errors/rares, or anything that is thought to be rare.

So if you are a collector post something, what cards you collect? your rarest cards, maybe list your cards, ask a question about a card you are looking for or want to know more about, brag about your cards, anything that has anything to do with collecting is good:thumb:

Oh and here is my collection i should post to set an example, not everyone has to put down every card but i have a lot of freetime so get ready for some reading...some good reading

I will start with the more rare ones and try and list all the japanese promos and then get to the english cards

Ah, finally. A thread for collections to be posted. This should be fun.

For what cards do I collect, I collect any English cards but mainly focus on promos and newer sets. I also buy the occasional Japanese promo if it takes my fancy.

My rarest cards are my complete Sample set of which less than 50 sets exist.
I don't have any other really rare promos but I do have around 300 moderatly rare promos, including most released during the WotC era.

I also have some rare cards from sets including TSD, a few Lv.X's, ex's and Stars.

I also recently purchased an uncut Fossil sheet, I'm not really into uncut sheets that much but I think this would look nice framed and displayed on the wall (if I can find somewhere out of direct sunlight).

I'll post here again if I get any more substantial additions to my collection. :thumb:

I collect a lot more than I play. I have been collecting since base set and have almost every set complete, including reverse foils and 1st Editions. Still got a few to go in that regard.

I have every English 10th aniversary promotional item other than the watch by Fossil and the 10th aniversary Pokedex. I figured since my roommate has the Pokedex I can get it from him some day and the watch just turned out to be outside my budget.

The crown jewel of my collection is my First Edition English Base Set Magikarp signed by Mitsuhiro Arita (the card's artist). Magikarp is my favorite Pokemon and so far it is an one-of-a-kind card as nobody else has gotten Mr. Arita to sign another First Edition English Base Set Magikarp. This card really means a lot to me.

I collect and play at the same time.

But right now, I collect more as I quit playing due to some.... personal reasons.

So yeah, I collect all sets, promos, etc... from Base Set to now... yet some ain't complete as of now, lol.

I am a strong Mew fan, and I have all Mew cards in English and some in Japanese, and one day I wish to get ahold of that rare Mew Trophy card...

Mews are not my only favourite cards to collect, I really love to collect any and all Premier event-related cards that was released in English by Pokemon USA since 04, and another favourite thing for me to collect is the rare stuff you get in sets (such as Shining, Crystal, exs, Stars, Lv.X, etc) =D

Most people at my league often cry in pure jealeously as everytime a new set come out, I often shotgun anything to do with RH and complete it before other set collectors, as they know that i have too much time on my hands... Plus as usual when a new set release, I tend to shotgun deck stuff before anyone =]

In case anyone is wondering about my sets completion stats...

I have all of the Nintendo black Star promos released since 2003, and still need to get ahold of some of the fairly recent ones - since you know, being an Australian really sucks since 90% of the time when a new promo cards come out, I have to import from the US to get it...

Of course, I have missed alot of the Wizard cards, and I also collect all of the Unreleased Japanese cards, in which I have owned a complete Vending Series 3 sets and some other promos.

So yeah.... I'm sick of deck talking stuff... For now, lol.

nice I'm glad to see that people on here have some solid collections. The fish king, there was a signed shining magikarp on eBay you would probably like.

Oh and Jason I still have the trophy mew and might get another:smile:

My kids and I play and collect as well. My son mostly concentrates on competing now, and my daughter is down to collecting one type of Pokemon; PIKACHU. Her collection has toppled 8,200 Pikachu cards in various forms from the Base set all the way to POP9. It also includes over 50 of the giant Pikachu cards that were available years back, 5 sealed World collections, 6 Pikachu*, over 30 Birthday Pikachu, and 5 E-3 stamped base set. She hopes to one day get some recognition for her collection, but if nothing else loves to see the look on people's faces when they see how many she has.

As for me, well I have collected every set since Ruby/ Saphire. Tried to get every card rev-holo. Only missing a few here and there from the older sets. I also have complete 1st ed. Jungle, fossil, and others. Promos, well we have bunches of them, including most of the staff cards given out for the last several years. None of the real high end promos but nice to have as momentos of the tournments we have been at and worked at.

Good topic for a thread.

Our collection consists of 3 of each set. We don't have 3 sets of 1st edition Base or 3 sets of Shadowless Base. When Squiddy came along i didn't bother with non-1st Jungel, Fossil and Team Rocket. But 3 of each set (including Parallel Foils).

I no longer do Black Star promos due to the limited distribution of some of them. Will do POP promos and stuff like that.

TLesky

Thanks for the compliment  and 8,200 pikachu cards that is quite a feet, i dont know if i have ever heard of anyone who has had that many pikachu cards, but i think the master pikachu collector has to be someone who has all the three trophy pikas now that would be insane

BJJ763
three sets of each wow that is nice, does that include sets like fire red leaf green, or skyridge or any of the other more difficult sets to complete?

Congratulations on the fossil sheet.:thumb:
It is great to hear other people having a intrest in uncut pokemon card sheets.

That's an awesome Pikachu collection.
What colour are the cheeks on your daughters 5 E3 stamped Pikas?
Are they all yellow or does she have one or more off the rare red cheeked version?

Yes does she have the e3 with red cheeks? I am still looking for that card, it is difficult to find.

Oh and pictures of collections/cards would be a great idea:cool:

No unfortunately no red ones. I will have to try to convince my wife to do some pics. May take a while. 8000+ cards gonna need lots of pics!

You've got at least one Red Cheeks that I know of (might not be the E3 variety).

Sorry crazypokemon, but if PSA won't then none of the other top graders will like MAP or BGS since the top grading companies abide by the same rules and guidelines when it comes to what can and cannot be graded and since the prerelease raichu was never officially released nor has it been recognized in any legit form of publication it is unable to be graded, I have attempted three times so I count my losses and move on.

i hope i get a pre raichu someday maybe someone will sell it not knowing what it is.
that would be cool if me and you had one.
or even funnier i get mines for 5 bucks and you got yours for 10k.lol.
hey anything can happen remember what i told you last time what i got and how many i got for that price.
so hopefully the same thing will happen.
