Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Player vs. Player Pokémon TCG Online coming this fall!

ZOMGOMGLOLTY!
This is the best news i have heard about this game in a long time!
If they really pull throught and make online that we can make good decks and play opponents then this game got alot better.

Wow! What's the scoop on the online sanctioned tournaments? Prizes (not caring, but would still like to know)? Will those tournament affect ratings? So many ??? so little time.

Various customizable features and digital items will be available through a special currency system earned through numerous game play scenarios, including officially sanctioned online tournaments staged by The Pokémon Company International. Players can expect the introduction of new items and features frequently.

My guess on how we are going to get the cards. If not, then I'm hoping we don't play those games on Pokemon.com. Got bored after five minutes -.-

Anyone else now have the battle theme from the gameboy tcg game stuck in their heads? I'm hoping the music in this is just as good.

like i already didnt play enough pokemon...lol now i have pokemon online, pokemon B&W Pokemon TCG pokemon VIRTUAL tcg, Pokemon Stadium/collisum

My Thoughts:

1. First of all, GOOD MOVE. This initial effort is already a Godsend and we haven't even played it.

2. People, don't be spoiled; be patient. I know you're used to videogames hitting the shelves 100% developed, but this is kindof a new thing for Pokemon, so give them time to program, work out the kincs, and stuff. Eventually, they'll probably get the point where you can even play UNlimited on there. But, consider the number of cards, powers, bodies, attacks etc. need to be programmed into that game!

3. DO NOT INCORPORATE INTO RANKING SYSTEM! This shouldn't go into the realm of "Online Sanctioned Events" because the entire educational (and social) value of the game diminshes. In essence, this would just become one more videogame for kids to play in their rooms and get over.

The table card game is interesting and withstands the test of time. It involves social interaction, attention to social mores and courteous behaviors, and encourages mastery of basic math and reading skills.

The videogame can be played in solitude and lacks face-to-face social interaction.

So, the videogame will be Phenomenal for decktesting, but should really be used for decktesting and online fun.

The, live, table card game events, however, should remain the only sanctioned events that affect points, rankings, and invites.

Pokemon TCG should not completely migrate over to videogaming.

4. League Play

Sanctioning Online play would cause me to lose about 90% of my league kids. I think it'd kill the live TCG event altogether. I predict they'll be some residual affects for those who ONLY practice online. If the game is going to perform actions and computations for the user, people may be less likely to 'do the math' and read the cards. This could make face-to-face live matches clumsy.

CONCLUSIONS

Pokemon Online TCG = SO GOOD.
Sanctioned TCG online = not so good.

Don't speak so soon. They could easily offer special prizes at league pertaining to the online game. Such as codes for staple cards so you won't need to keep getting packs in hopes of making a competitive deck online. If they were to do that, I don't think very many people will be quitting league.

I really support this idea. I can't wait

Hopefully it doesn't become like MTG, where it's an entirely different system compared to irl play. In MTG, you have to purchase, with real money, for online packs that are only usable online.

What I would absolutely love is if the Pokemon online TCG allowed players access to infinite numbers of every card. That would propel the playerbase skill tenfold and be so much better for the game as a whole. This could lead to serious game coverage and other lucrative opportunities similar to MTG's.

eventually they will make it all online im guessing.
that thought sucks
Really far into the future, absolutely everything will be done online....

Yes, but will there be any pre-Ruby & Sapphire cards? Or maybe they'll just cut it off at Diamond & Pearl.

I wanna play Unlimited!

I have no idea why, but it seems to me like TPCi doesn't have access to card imagery prior to Ruby and Sapphire. If they did, then wouldn't it be on the card search? That, or they just like to pretend that Wizards never produced cards.

I'm fairly certain we won't see any cards prior to RS.
