Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Zekrom Error 114/114

I have 4 black background and 1 gray background. Traded my 6th one away not sure which one that was but it seems the grays are slightly rarer from what I've gotten and seen.

Or it could be like the Dialga G LV.X error which seemed common at first. Try to find one now...

Every one of these pulled at today's PR were black. All of the one's I've pulled (5 in all now) and those my friends and league members have pulled (another 15 or so) have been black. Hedging my bet, but I think the gray versions are going to be another here today, gone tomorrow event.

Ha! These seems way more common (let's see where this ends up when the dust settles ) Totally agree with you debunking some of the nonsense that seems to have cropped up though. What was WPM thinking?

Ah, well, he did have some help in the form of bad reports from other people which led him to wrong assumptions, in all fairness.

I'm pretty sure the greys will become very rare; it was fairly clearly a low-ink situation (though the interspersing is VERY good, maybe they use some kind of interleaved printing), because at my league we lined up 5 Zekroms in a line from black to grey, in varying degrees of darkness. I have one of the "almost black" ones, myself, which I'm going to bet are the rarest.

The gray one is more plentiful and from what I know can only be pulled from packs with Codes. Wouldn't that make the black one the error?

Don't think so, I pulled both from regular packs (gray and black), I think the black are more common because almost everyone I know has either a set or just the black one

The black Zekroms were from the first run. They're kinda sorta first edition, so to speak. The 'unlimited' run, which is what will be available from now on, are the grey.

Also, it is most definitely NOT a low-ink situation. Having held the two in my hand side by side, they're very obviously different. The most noticeable proof it's not just low ink is the texture - the grey Zekrom's background (not the figure, but the grey part) is rougher than the figure, and much rougher than any part of the black Zekrom cards. This is also on the brighter white Reshiram, and is probably the best way to tell those apart unless you've got really good light. The Pikachu doesn't feel as rough/textured as the Reshi and Zek, but there is also a noticeable difference between them.

It's a case of two different print runs having very noticeable results. I'm guessing with more print runs (assuming there will be more) that the grey one will be rarer. We'll have to wait and see I guess

Hard to say. My guess is that it will decrease in price as people move on to the next set. Most errors do not retain their value.

Plus these don't seem hugely rare. You never know though - I've been wrong about these things before

Both versions were pulled from the boxes used for my PR's.

Hmmm.... That's interesting.

Frankly, I haven't a clue, then. I'm holding on to a set of both kind until we figure this out. For the record, though, I haven't pulled the smooth/black versions since a week after the set came out. Since then, I've pulled nothing but grey/textured.

I think I have an interesting and far more rare error; I'll post pics tonight. Instead of being black, or the light fuzzy grey, it's a matte DARK grey. It's clearly different from both the black and the light grey - what do you guys think THAT'S worth?

I have the same. I don't really think it's all too significant to be honest.
