I just thought that I would come up with this list of card rarity ratios to help anyone who has wondered about the rarity of their cards.
I would like to add any cards that I have not listed yet and get the list as complete as possible!

Here we go!


All series:
Holographic: 1:4 (9 per box)
Alternate / Reverse holo: 1:1 (average 36 per box excluding WOTC series 1999-2001
Stormfront - Triumphant some replaced by Shining, Secret and Prime cards.



WOTC series:
Neo Revelation Shinings: 1:18 (2 per box)
Neo Destiny Shinings: 1:12 (3 per box)
Crystals: 1:18 (2 per box)
Dark Raichu: 1:57 (1 every 1.5 boxes)

EX series:
2004-2007 ex's: 1:18 (2 per box)
2003 ex's: 1:8 (avg. 5 per box)
Gold Star: 1:72 (1 in 2 boxes)
Alternate / Reverse holo TV Reporter: 1:88 (last print run)
Unknown: 1:5 (7 per box)

POP Series:
Espeon Gold Star: 1:40
Umbreon Gold Star: 1:40
ex 1:40

Daimond, Pearl, Platinum series:
2007-2008 Level X: 1:36 (One per box)
2009 Level X: 1:15 (2-3 per box)

Alph Lithograph: 1:36 (1 per box)
Red Gyarados: 1:36 (1 per box)
Call of Legends Shiny:1:18 (2 per box)

Black and White series:
Full Art: 1:18 (2 per box)
Secret: 1:80 (1 every 2-3 boxes)
EX: 1:18 (2 per box)
Full Art EX: 1:36 (1 per box)
Shining: 1:72 (1 per 2 boxes)

Does it not state on the card packs that odds for a holo are 1 in 3? I'd always assumed that was accurate. Is 1 in 4 your personal experience in opening boxes?

I don't remember the odds for the Neo Revelation shinings, but the Neo Destiny shinings were definately 3 per box. Or at least that's what it was with the couple dousen boxes I saw opened back when they came out.

And I don't know the odds of them but the Unown from Unseen Forces should probably be on there. :smile:

I think what happens is that in 12 out of 36 packs in a box, you get a card that is AT LEAST holo rarity. Back in the day holos were the most rare cards so that basically did mean they were in 1 out of 3 packs. But now we have all of these chase cards and many of them take the place of holos in packs (ex, LV. X, Legends, FA, EX and FA EX all do) so that technically makes the pull rate for holos lower.

So, yeah, it's more like 8-10 holos per box depending on the set. Emerging Powers only had two FAs per box so there were usually ten holos, but Next Destinies would have 8-9 depending on how many EX you get.
 
From my experience:

Missing cards:
Dark Raichu

Secret Arceus- I believe you get a full set of 1-9 in a box.

Shining Gyarados (HGSS)- 1 per box, either regular or reverse holo

EX Series Reprints (Charmander, Charmeleon.. etc.)- If I'm thinking of the same ones that you are, they were box toppers. Meaning one card came loose one top of the packs in each box.

Time Space Distortion

Alternate / Reverse holo TV Reporter (Dragon)- 1 in 88 packs in the last print run, not in any earlier print runs.

Call of Legend Shiny- 2 per box

Rising Rivals Rotom- 2 per box

Unown (Unseen Forces)- Replaces the Reverse Holo in 1 in every 5 packs.
 
Dark Raichu should be about 1 in 57 packs (roughly one and a half boxes). 19 holos in the set at a rate of 1 in 3 packs. 11-12 holos per box.

neo destiny shinings were 3 in a box but also there were some that had 5 in a box but that was in a rare occurance.
the crystal cards were 2 in a box but in skyridge it can be 2-3 counting the reverse holo versions as well.
ex series the gold stars were 1 out of 2 boxes but in delta species and holon phantoms from what i remember was since there were only 3 ex's in those 2 sets you were guaranteed only 1 ex in a box.
 
the POP packs i say were all random since it was only 2 cards in a pack and none of them were holo it was all random from what i remember.as for next destinies right now in a box majority is 2 ex's and 1 full art ex.shinies is still 1 in 2 boxes
 
i wouldnt say 1 out of 40 packs i seen people buy a bulk lot of around 40 or less and end up getting both epseon and umbreon star in those bulk.
