Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Bdif

BDIF means, literally the best deck in the format. There can only be one. However, it seems like you are interested in potential tier one decks. From my testing, tier one looks like (in no particular order):

Darkrai+Stuff (Terrakion, Mewtwo, Tornadus, Landorus, Hammers, etc)
Darkrai/Hydreigon
Zekeels (I think better than Rayeels now)
And then one of two decks:
Blastoise/Keldeo
Or
Landorus EX

If Keldeo becomes extremely popular and is tier one, then Landorus won't be. If, however, Stoise/Keldeo flops even just a little bit, Landorus EX will be quite good.

However, this is all speculation. I would suggest testing yourself, and decide what you think is tier one! : ).

Tier 3 camerupt/volcarona FTW! At least that's what I'm looking forward to in this set, lol.

I agree with LF, zekeels looks like it can have a strong return.

^ Keep in mind that there are no lightning weak water Pokemon in the deck. They all are weak to grass and maybe metal.

Yep, well aware. Rayeels was, in my opinion, strong because it got a consistency boost with Fliptini (I live in Washington, where the Fliptini version was at top tables for almost every BR). The player got to stall their opponent through paralysis to buy setup time. However, with Keldeo's Rush In, and the presumed popularity of Keldeo, and now that Fliptini/Rayeels has broke onto the national stage, people will likely run a couple switch in Darkrai... It just seems to point to Rayeels's effectiveness going down the tiniest bit.

As for Zekeels, now that we have yet another attacker focusing on 2HKOs (Keldeo), one that Mewtwo trades quite well with, I think Zekeels/Raikou/Max Potion/Mewtwo (The Kevin Nance nats deck, but updated) has a great chance to surge back into the format. Also, Eels generally wins Mewtwo wars! : ).

Again, all speculation!

No such thing as BDIF this format.
It's called Rock Paper Scissors.
Who ever gets set up first, wins.
If Landorus outspeeds eels, what wins?

This very well could be the case, but I would be careful in making such definitive statements about a currently non-existent format. A BDIF could pop out of tournament play over the course of cities, we don't really know yet.

Everyone whines about the RPS mentality of every format, especially around BRs and CCs time of year. It's starting to bug me because that's never really how it works. RPS is a state in which every deck is completely countered by some other deck and that's not the case right now.

Eels can beat its biggest threats, Terrakion and Darkrai (Rayeels in particular can do this). The matchup might be hard against a well-prepared opponent, but it is definitely doable.

Darkrai/Hydreigon can beat Garchomps, Terrakions, and Rayeels, all of which should have reasons they should trump it (ability to KO Hydreigons and/or Darkrais easily).

Similarly, Keldeo/Blastoise can beat random Grass tech-ins like Shaymin, and can beat random Sigilyph drops.

I don't know what matchups you could point at right now and say they are 'unbeatable' for one side or the other.

Zekeels is far worse than rayeels because it auto loses to landorus/terrakion. According to my testing, it is extremely difficult to beat fighting with zekeels. At least rayeels can use dragons.

My prediction of what the tier list for cities will look like

A
Blastoise/Keldeo
Garchomp/Landorus
Darkrai/Hydreigon (Got really good. Thanks to Computer Search)
6 Corners

B
Rayeels
Hammertime
Empoleon
Flygon/Dusknoir/Celebi

C
Vilebox
Zekeels
Ho-Oh

D
Accelgor Variants
Garbodor Variants

I think that Keledo / Blastoise will not be good. I have no proof to say it won't but I just feel it. It whoever setups first.

Even if you haven't tested it you can still be a little more helpful than "I just feel it"... why do you feel that way? What is it about the combo that makes you feel like that?

I feel you're safe playing something with Darkrai, Eels and Landorus EX. Please don't use that statement as me saying toss four Darkrai and 56 other cards in a deck and you're good either. I feel people know good and well what is meant there, but I will be clear that if you use a defined deck idea using one of those three cards you will stay in tier one. I really want to like Blastdeo, but Rush In seems to be the defining feature of the deck. Why do I say this over Deluge? Most decks doing well need needs energy control so Deluge isn't special to the Turtle it what makes it make any splash (pardon the pun.) Rush In is kind of a janky thing that let's it not be Catcher stalled or paralyzed stalled. Sacred Sword is pretty decent, but I'm not sure if it'll keep up at 2HKO on most EXs. I kind of seeing it played enough that it will keep quad Landorus from being the end all be all BDIF, but I don't see it getting passed Tier 1.5.

darkrai/hydreigon is bdif imo, it can beat rayeels and keldeo/blastiose consistently(generally i find those matchups up to be 60-40 in darkrai's favor) and w/ dragon deinos it doesn't just lose to landorus.

I overlooked it. It is great imo, but I don't think it will go Tier 1. Running Psyduck could be awesome for your Rayquaza Matchup!

Psyduck's Attack:

:water: Firefight - Discard a :fire: Energy attached to the Defending Pokemon.

Awesome deck, but people are starting too recognize its inconsistency. Adding Landorus EX to its threat list is even worse now with Landorus having a Water weakness.

Darkrai/Hydreigon got an insane consistency boost with Computer Search and Skyla.

The ability to junk hunt computer search is stupidly good.

uhm....inconsistent...yeah you should try it w/ skyla and computer search as pointed out i thought this deck was garbage b/4 this set and uhm now i love this deck....it's very consistent w/ skyla& computer search

Set is not released yet, So when it is released then you can start yelling of the empire state building how amazingly consistent Hydreigon is. Call me and together we can yell. :p
