Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Rotation announced!

JPN Gallade: Gothitelle is being reprinted in the latest Japanese BW set

http://pokebeach.com/2013/07/ex-battle-boost

I am aware about that, but there is the possibility that we may not even get the EX Battle Boost set at all since it really comes down to how/when the XY set will be released, so if we don't get the Battle Boost set, then Gothitelle will truly be rotated.

EDIT: Looks like I was beaten to the reply. Oh well.

so with the announcement of a future bw-on format, they are basically announcing that they plan to never fix the first turn trainer rule

I pray we don't get Battle Boost.
I am alright with NXD-on but would have liked to see either DEX-On or DRX-On

Dusknoir could be easily countered by printing a bench sitter that has a Potion Ability.

Pokemon Center.................... Lets add to the stadium wars :)

It was obvious that Catcher couldn't be rotated. The whole format and the cards printed in it base on this card.

Actually I really wonder that there's a rotation at all. ND-on doesn't really change the base metagame of the format so they might have stayed with BW-on as well, which would give more sets to choose from in terms or creativity.

All I know is that this rotation makes Genesect dominate the format a lot more than it did in japan with BW-on. It basically eliminates any fire type decks or techs in the format (Emboar, Bechtini) as well as Eelektrik which could do very well vs Genesect with Boufflant or Rayquaza. The rotation also weakens most other tier one decks, like Darkrai, the only deck that will stay as it is is Blastoise which got, just like Keldeo, weakness to Genesect.

Starting in late 2014, a new TCG format will be joining the familiar Modified format as a legal option for sanctioned Pokémon events of all sizes. Because this new format will allow players to use all sets from Black & White on, players will have even more options when designing a winning deck!
However, this sounds interesting. It's not the palace format I was hoping for, but at least some kind of alternative format to be established.

Am I the first person to say 'called it' ?!

Yay NXD-on! I can't wait to continue playing the exact same deck for another year, w00t w00t!

RIP Durant. I will miss the days when you would make the opponents rage and throw insults online or offline. I will miss facing off against players who have a self-made "No Durant policy". I will miss you indeed.

Anyways a couple of folks at league were crying because this would mean they'd lose their Shift Gear KlinkKlangs. But I see that the McDonalds Collection is legal. The way they were releasing those promos, Shift Gear KlinkKlang should have been in the next batch of McD promos. So close yet so far!

immewnity beat me to my question. However, given the set symbol provided is the 2012 one, I don't have high hopes. That being allowed is interesting in itself, though, since all cards in the 2012 one are reprints from the three sets that got rotated.

Hmm... NXD-on doesn't change my main deck at all, with 1 minor exception. (Communication, which will probably get a reprint in Plasma Blast anyway I'd imagine.)

Interestingly as well, neither McDonald's Collection will be allowed at Worlds this year.

So these are what we lose in the next Rotation along with Victini (V-Create) and Eels -

* Energy Switch
* Recycle
* Crushing Hammer
* Great Ball
* Revive
* Pokemon Communication
* PlusPower
* Energy Retrieval
* Super Scoop Up

So..they managed to pick a format rotation that will completely leave the meta as is. I don't know what to say. I wonder if the company realises that people play the TCG competitively at all. I can't imagine anyone looking at the meta and saying it's healthy. It's just fat Basics smashing into each other.
(Side note: the Gothic deck was an outlier and I wouldn't call it healthy either, it's just not fun to play against at all. I heard people like games where they can play with their cards, believe it or not.)

IMO, they could at least rotate up to NEX / Prism Energy to shake things up a bit. Either that, or just not rotate at all. Hitting just 3 sets is pretty meaningless. Personally, I'm gonna miss the ZekEels / RayEels decks, those decks were extremely fun with a lot of strengths and weaknesses.

@Poke Trainer J
Max Potion was reprinted as a shiny in PLF, and Super Rod is also in Dragon Vault. Eviolite has been reprinted in PLS as well. The rest of your list looks accurate.

Super Rod is in Dragon Vault, Eviolite is in Boundaries Crossed, and Max Potion/Rocky Helmet were reprinted as shinies.

Poke Trainer J all of the ones in red have been reprinted.

The question I have it, why did Pokemon wait so long to announce this? Why did the German TO have this info and leak it before Pokemon could officially release it? They missed a golden opportunity to look professional by not announcing it Day 1 at US Nationals.

About rotation, we really do not lose much at all. They are just rotating out their bulk of trash cards, most don't even seem to ever be a threat with new cards coming in either. Here are some Pokemon we could miss that are not the obvious ones (Shift Gear KlingKlang / Eels / Durant)

-70HP Tepig bw16 (in BB)
-Sand Tomb Sandile bw63
-Pickup Lillipup bw80
-Collect Lillipup bw81
-Hone Claws Dillbur epo54
-Watchlock Watchog epo79
-Powerful Slap Audino epo83
-Paralyze Sewaddle epo3
-Leaf Tailer Leavanny nvi3 (in BB)
-Ice Shard Cryogonal nvi32
-Ice Chain Cryogonal nvi 33
-Double Freeze Vanniluxe nvi29
-Agility Blitzle nvi35
-Damagriiigus Cofagrigus nvi46
-Garbage Collection Trubbish nvi48
-Trickle Stunfisk nvi68
-Rough Skin Druddigon nvi89 (in BB)

This is just grasping for cards to say we are losing, and chances are these won't cause an impact, but some seem they could have been possibly interesting depending on new cards, for example, the Hone Claws Drillber + Mew EX combo. Some of the cards I listed are pretty long shots to be good again, such as Vanniluxe, but that's not becasue it's not a good card, just it would never be in a format without Keldeo EX again. Still if you want some little gems we might miss, I think I got most of them. The rest of the stage 0's are pretty much outclassed or unplayable anyway.

were i to guess, i'd say that the announcement of the upcoming 'extended' format had a lot to do with it.

and before you say 'why didn't they just wait on that part of it'...imagine if they did, you (general you) sold off all your pre-NXD cards, and THEN they announced the 'extended' format...

jmho..

Sorry, I haven't been playing long enough lately to understand the new rotations, but if I am understanding this rotation, I can still use my Emerging Powers Max Potions because they've been reprinted in another set?

Or do I HAVE to use the reprinted versions?
