Something funny about these EVs...

Ok, basically its like this: I'd EV trained this one Pokemon with a simple 6 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd spread, but I'd mistakenly trained it 254 in attack and 250 in Spd. So anyways, I give it 1 Keplsy Berry to bring its Atk down by 10, then I retrained it so that it had the 6/252/252 spread.

Now the problem is, the Atk stat is not correctly reflecting the changes. All the other stats are what they should be at that level (50), but for some reason the Atk stat is far below what it should be (132 as opposed to 150, which is what it should be). Any ideas as to why this is?

I actually didn't know that, although the reason for that is because I've never used the EV down berries, nor bothered to look up what they do because I've never needed them yet.

I can't believe you didn't know that. I'm a Newb when it comes to EV Training and I remember the hundred EV rule.

Well, put it this way: except for the above mentioned incident, I've always EV trained my Pokemon (over 30 mind you) and got the EVs right 100% of the time, so I never had a need to use them. I knew that EV reducing berries normally -10 from the EV in question since that's common knowledge, but most places don't exactly mention they'll smack it back down to 100 if you're over 100 EVs in that stat.

i'm sorry but that post was completely unnecessary. you have no right to bash someone for simply asking a question, much less if you admit you're not an expert yourself. we don't really need that kind of attitude.

very few people that i know are aware of the way the EV reducing berries work when you have over 100 EVs.

Dude, I wasn't bashing him. I simply did not realize that some people didn't know it, and was surprised. That's all. I'm lucky, the site I checked out for it included that in the explanation. Don't have a cow.

I have over 700 Tomato, Kelpsey, Grepa, Hondew, and Qualot Berries, and 999 Pomeg Berries, and now people are telling me they are worthless, because you can't re-EV Lv. 100s!

I never was able to get a definitive answer as to whether or not stats are ever recalculated at any point. Boxing seems like it still would. The only issue is if EV gain is simply shut off completely at 100, which would be stupid as ****.

Boxing doesn't work anymore. Stat points gained from EVs are gained by leveling up, so you can't re-EV at Level 100, sadly.

Yes, see, that's exactly the type of answer that doesn't say a bloody thing. Stat points from EVs aren't solely gained from levelling up. It's never worked that way. Levelling up is simply the most common way for a Pokémon's total stats to be recalculated. This is how the Box Trick works/worked—stats are (or were) recalculated upon boxing.

Thus my questions are: Does boxing or trading or anything recalculate stats like it used to, and if so and assuming the Box Trick doesn't work, is this due to something patently retarded like physical EV accumulation simply being "shut off" in some manner?

Then again, if the question's too advanced for the 'Gym, I could always ask elsewhere...

Hey, I'll take 396 of each of your hands. Just name your price (I don't make payments in pokemon for items though. Sorry.) Actually, never mind. My game won't be able to handle that many low-level common pokemon for the trading, and it's easier (and costs less. Pokeballs you see) to just go to the Berry people and get the berries from them.

I was simply telling you what I knew about the subject. Sorry if my answer didn't satisfy your superior intelligence. lol

Considering that every single time this topic has come up, I've asked that question, and every single time I've never gotten an answer beyond what you've posted there, I'm kind of annoyed that nobody seems to know definitively if the box trick still works or not, and if not, why it doesn't.

That's probably because no one knows if the Box Trick works yet. But see, no one is going to care anymore except for those of you foolish enough to bring your pokemon to lv. 100 in the first place. We now have a new trick, one I affectionately call "the lv. 100 Modifier" Trick. It's simple. We just use the level 100 modifier every time, meaning that there's no reason o level all the way to 100, making it easy to re-adjust EVs. Now, for those of you who play in real tournaments and not just tournaments made on the internet, like, in-person tournaments, I have no clue if they offer the lv. 100 modifier, but if not, I don't care as I never enter those. They usually take place in the daytime, meaning my body would combust in the sunlight, so I can't enter. Therefore, I don't care. But there's the answer as to why no one knows: no one has tried it yet.
