I think it would be incredibly foolish to run Garbodor in Grinders; you'll lose to anyone running scrappers (Remember Life Dew from Nationals?) not to mention it really doesn't have a very lovely time with Gothitelle in general. And unlike other tournaments, you don't get another match after...
My guess would be with USD being converted at such a close rate to CND (.97 to 1.00 I think?) that the price will be the same in either currency just to simplify matters for them.
Going to add to the pile here:
Deckbox no good. Most cardgamers use plastic boxes at a minimum.
Status counters: Beyond awesome! I would've bought the box just to have the burn / poison coins.
The card box itself holds up to a beating and then some.
The dice I didn't really need...
Good to know about the surrounding area taking USD where needed. I'm kind of hoping that the store will simplify things and take either currency since the difference is so negligible, then.
One other retail related question: Should we want to pay in cash, should we be bringing USD or CND? This is being held outside the USA for the first time, after all.
I love the artwork for this, and if it follows through on the mat / binder / deck box it's going to be nothing short of gorgeous.
Now to attempt to get one before the vendors buy them all out and sell them for triple on Ebay...
OnTheBubble placed the video of the match that ostensibly started this whole discussion up here:

The Curtis Lyon / Zack Lesage Blastoise mirror match.
Now people can see for themselves, and make their own decisions.
The show "On The Bubble" took streaming footage of the event. According to their facebook, the matches will be put up with commentary in the coming days / weeks.

The activities carried out in the video do seem quite questionable, and I hope someone with more experience than I can take a look at it and give a definitive answer as to whether their actions were legal, and perhaps worthy of more than just a "Warning".
Top 16 nationals prize was... 3 packs? Even if it was a 200 man tournament... 3 packs for an event of that magnitude? US battle roads wins netted you 4 packs and those events were 1/3rd the size....
I'd be interested to know what the full prize layout for Canadian nationals was if this is...
Holy smokes, there's a Klingklang at 3rd seed. :O No fewer than 7 Blastoise, that covers nearly 1/4th of the bracket... 10 plasma, 4 darkrai... this doesn't include the "unknown" players...
Tomorrow is going to be nuts.
