    revealed prize card

Since the deck is considered to be random in terms of both content and order the error can be completely unwound. There is no reason why either player should be advantaged or disadvantaged by an accidentally revealed prize card during set up. This would not be the case if the deck was...

Between-round prize loss penalties "following" a player through IDs

You are correct, it sounds silly. Apply the prize penalty to the next round and let them ID. No need to force a redundant set up in order to apply a prize card penalty to an actual game. Don't defer the penalty to the first round of the cut.

    Uncertainty about cards in hand

In general it is a Prize Loss if the messed up game state will self repair in one or two turns, or a Game Loss if there is no prospect of the game state repairing itself in a few turns. In the specific case of drawing an extra card the game state corrects almost perfectly when the next card is...

    UK Regionals

Have you contacted Gordian Knot Games to let them know how you feel? Basically unless this thread blows up badly posting here will have close to zero visibilty and achieve very little. I think the 'gym is a great place for players but it is not particularly effective as a place to drive change...

2015 Season TCG Regionals Day 2 will use Extended Format (BW-on)

Day one of regionals is now a qualifier for day 2. Think of them as two separate tournaments. Those that can adapt should do well. How is that a bad thing?

    Illegal starting pokemon

Didn't Exobyte clarify the starting procedure to circumvent players feeling that they needed to delay their mulligan announcement to avoid a perceived disadvantage? [Avoiding a disadvantage that is not intended by the rules is not the same as ignoring the rules to gain an advantage] Found the...

    Mulligan ruling

Failing to show your hand before shuffling it away for a muligan is currently the same as shuffling your hand away without a game effect during a game.

Resolving he-said she-said at Worlds level

A ruling based upon the observable game state is the default position when a judge is unable to resolve a he said/ she said. The presumption is that both players are honest and observing SotG. Sadly this isn't always true. There are times when I wish that judges would assess the likelihood that...

Double sleeving cards: Acceptable or not?

This is the line from the Tournament rules document that causes the issue with double sleeving.  Each card sleeve contains only one card. With double sleeving one of the sleeves contains both a card and a sleeve. So the outer sleeve does contain one card but not only one card. FWIW Double...

Points Required to Qualify for the World Championships: 500 CP for Masters? WHAT!

500 is a crazy amount but lots of players will manage it. There is a strange psychology at play here. Lots of players are happy to believe that they can make Top 30 but are less confident when that is translated into a fixed bar. Why might this be the case? My guess is that Top 30 is something...

Points Required to Qualify for the World Championships: 500 CP for Masters? WHAT!

What a stupid suggestion. I've already worked out what I'm going to do: a lot less travelling than last year.

Players are saying a lot. Actions however will speak louder than words.
