    Awesome European Professor Cup

yea, was a nice tournament - thanks to Becca, Thorsten and Marcello for making it possible. =) Really like the idea of energy effects, but unfortunately they were too easy to steal so it wasn't really effective to play the "good" energy effects. :( If anyone is interested, here my 4th...

    Professor Oak in Standard format

Neither Professor Oak and Juniper/Sycamore nor Night Maintenance and Super Rod are exactly the same in terms of gameplay. There are examples of cards who indeed are exactly the same, like Gust of Wind and pre-nerf Pokémon Catcher, or Warp Point and Escape Rope, but as King Piplup said, you...

    UU format expanding the game.

If you ban Rare Candy, non-EX basics and some stage 1 Pokémon like Donphan will dominate the format since stage 2 decks have no chance. If you don't ban Rare Candy, Flygon/Dusknoir will be broken since there is almost no non-ex deck that can beat it, except for some trainer lock stuff.

    Are Pokémon-EX ruining the game?

Desert Ruins is probably the only thing that would hurt EX really hard without touching evolutions. It even fits the ORAS theme. However this would be an extreme change for the meta and we don't have a "beta test" enviroment for the Pokémon TCG yet. I'd rather see pre-evolutions who have...

    Are Pokémon-EX ruining the game?

No, it's because our current standard format provides little to no stage 2 support and lots of stage 2 hate cards. Level Ball and Tropical Beach were essential for stage 2 decks, both rotated without any replacement. There definitely should have been one in Legendary Treasures. In addition...

Changes to Definition of the Term “Defending Pokémon”

^ this I understand if you want to rule by the card text, but isn't it rather confusing for all players if it's changed and probably changed back later after consulting the Japanese text? Could lead to misplays and misunderstanding at many tournaments, and I guess that confusion could even be...

    Lysandre's Last Resort

Skillbased game in terms or resource management and deckthinning? Not any more. Comeback because opponent burned out resources too fast after a lucky start? Nope. Alternative deck strategies like milling or working with discard pile? Forget it. In my opinion, this is the most toxic card for...

Dear TPCi: Scrap the disaster that is 50+3!

qft more rounds > longer rounds Lets's look at a tournament with 100 Masters. With current rules, there would be 7 rounds b-o-3 50+3 and top cut to 8. The swiss rounds take at least 7 hours and there's a chance of bubbling with 5-1-1. With 9 rounds b-o-1 30+3 and a cut to 8, the swiss rounds...

Dear TPCi: Scrap the disaster that is 50+3!

Here some feedback from our Nationals - 50+3 is absolutely killing metagame diversity. We had 8 swiss rounds 50+3 and cut to only top 8 for about 180 masters at our Nationals. That means that topcutting is pretty much impossible without a lot of luck. That's why i didn't really prepare...

Dear TPCi: Scrap the disaster that is 50+3!

Completely agree with Jason here. At ECC I got pretty much kicked out of the tournament by drawing a match where I was about to certainly win the 3rd game, ending up 4-2-3 when the swiss rounds of day 1 finished at midnight. Time issues also impact the deck choice and make the format less...

    What's wrong with trainer lock?

Trevenant is strong, but compared to other cards in the set its balanced. It seems like one-sided trainer lock is op but that's only because many item cards right now are op (Hypnotoxic Laser, Muscle Band etc). A 110 HP Pokémon with a mediocre attack that is turned into a really bad attack by a...

Energy switch. Darkrai and Blastoise for another year.

Darkrai was nerfed so hard I highly doubt it will ever be as strong as it was before, not even with Yveltal. There is no other deck that relied on Catcher as much as Darkrai did. You still can play Catcher with Junk Hunt, but you can't plan your turns any more and have to Junk Hunt for 2...

Official Announcement regarding rule changes with X & Y Release...

First of all... Catcher nerf? Yes please, thank you! But coinflip? Really? Wasn't Worlds 2011 proof enough to show that Reversal was a horrible card that made the game luck-based? Why not just require being behind in prizes (like Pow! Hand Extension, for those who already played back then), or...

Points Required to Qualify for the World Championships: 500 CP for Masters? WHAT!

My hope is that the kicker requirements are lowered, so that the best 25-50% will get CP instead of just the best 12,5-25%. This is be the best answer to the increasing number of competitive players and the luck-based metagame that we have at the moment (could get better with XY but we don't...

    Pull Rates for Plasma Blast

My box: - Genesect-EX - Jirachi-EX - Exeggcute Shiny - no ACE SPECs (not even bad ones) - no full arts - no Sigilyph and very few other playable holos And unless they change the distribution back, that could be the last box I bought. Doesn't make any sense with my "luck" when cards are...
