Before I being, I'd like to elaborate a little further on my deck I used today. VileGar is a deck that I know VERY well. I've been playing it nonstop since Battle Roads, testing against matchups with every chance I get and trying various builds and techs. After losing Top Cut at one of my last Cities to a VileGar mirror as well as losing to the mirror at a Top 2 Battle Roads, I decided that my build desperately needed a better matchup against itself. The night before, I had spent an excruciating amount of my time figuring out how to beat the mirror while still maintaining the consistency the deck needs. Although I never played a fellow VileGar today, I am very happy with the changes I made! Now for the good stuff:

Round 1: vs LuxChomp

I open a very good start against his Crobat G but I start whiffing on needed energy. Nevertheless, I manage to start taking a prize lead. Eventually he manages to kill my Vileplume and there the momentum turns. Time is called soon enough, and we both have a prize left. After a long decision, I go for the Poltergeist against his Chomp CX, and manage to hit exactly 120 damage for the win. After later recollection, on that last turn, he very well could have won the game if he had decided to Spray my Crobat G drop on the last turn, making it a 90 damage Poltergeist, but I don't know if he realized it. Regardless, it was a great game, one of the finest matches of the day!

Round 2: vs Jumpluff

I had played this girl before, and almost the exact same scenario occurred: My Tomb made her set up nonexistant, and when I got out Gengar I sniped every single Hopip she had, including Pichus. My opponent was very enjoyable though, and I hoped that she would do well the rest of the tournament.

Round 3: vs Charizard G

I'll admit, I was surprised at the deck and it doing so well in a Gyarados-infested metagame, but the game was quite good! I open with Oddish T1 against his Uxie. He attaches, Collects a Charizard G, Uxie, and a Crobat G (!!!). At this point, I am VERY afraid of a donk. He Pokedexes and Sets Up.... For no PokeTurn. WHEEEW!! (After the game, he told me that his next card was the PokeTurn he needed.) Anyway, I have the Collector that I need to get set up, and we both wind up being incredibly set up, my Tomb to his Sableye. I have a Twins in my hand and I don't want Gengar to be OHKOd by Charizard GX, so I pass for awhile, with his Uxie killing my Tomb. I actually top decked a Lookers by this time, and whisk away his GX and a rather nice hand, mounting my momentum. He eventually manages to kill Vileplume with 2 Fire Jets or whatever Charizard G's snipe attack is, but I had one prize left at this point. A good game by a VERY unorthodox deck!

Round 4: vs Gyrados

Before the round starts, Nick and I start reminiscing about the good old times in Seniors, and how the two of us, as well as a boy named Jared who was also a previous Senior, would meet again in Top Cut. The game finally begins, and his Sableye plus Karp start tells me that he's playing Gyrados. I manage to get a pretty good set up against him, including the inevitably important Double Tomb, but he manages to start KOing things fast and I'm whiffing on Psychic Energy. I realize after I get out Gengar that he only has 2 Karps in the discard, so I Level Up for a 3HKO instead of 2 and KO his Regice over the turns so he can't get rid of his Trainers. I miss Fainting Spell, but fortunately I am prepared for it and get the KO next turn. Even after bypassing Rescue, he managed to get another Gyarados out (he had his 4th Karp on the bench, prepared for a Heads on Fainting Spell) but a Poltergeist next turn put it in his place. He now realizes that he does not have BTS out, and has to pass for a few turns while I start OHKOing his actives. Finally, he plays 2 karps on his bench in an attempt to get our Gyrados next turn, but by then I have already sealed the game. Great game Nick!

Round 5: vs GeChamp:

Yes, I actually played a GeChamp. Yes, it actually went 5-0 up until this point. It was also the boy I previously mentioned, Jared. I don't remember the game too much, but I know that I had two Gengars pounding on his Pokemon for awhile, and at a point he completely burnt out under the Trainer Lock. I set up a massive Compound Pain and took my remaining 4 prizes at once. Good game Jared!

Round 6: vs Magnezone

I had expected to play an SP tool box by Alfred, but it turns out he dropped! :/ I was very happy by this outcome though, for this is a VERY easy matchup for my Shadow Room + Fainting Spell, and he knows it before we even begin. He winds up winning that amazing playmat I desperately desire, and even offer to scoop in exchange for it, but he adamantly refuses. Oh well! I get the kill on his Zone after a major energy whiff for him, but his Scizor Prime is scaring me. However, I ruin his top decks and Shadow Room it to hell. I actually misplay and let him Sage's, where he manages to build up Dialga GX for a turn, but doesn't take full advantage of it while I Level Down the next turn. Once again, I manage to build up a massive Compound Pain for all of the rest of my prizes. Good game sir, hope you enjoy that mat!! Q_Q

Top 8 of Top Cut 1: vs MachampSnorelax (I can't even think of a good name for this deck...)
After a near heartattack from the amazing Kim Carey himself, it turns out I am playing the almost as amazing David Donner, the legend of SoCal himself. After a sad loss to him at a previous Battle Road, I was determined to regain my glory. In case you were wondering how VileGar can even lose to this deck, I would like to point out that Blissey PL is the bane of VileGar's existance. Anyway, Game 1 made me rage. I open a somewhat mediocre start of Crobat G and Unown Q and go first, passing. He burns through a 6 trainer card hand and Sets Up, getting a Rare Candy 'Champ, Expert Belt, and Double Colorless even flipping 3 Heads on the Hurricane Punch. All the while, I am in utter disbelief, sharing this delightful experience with my good friend Taylor. I actually mount a combeack of some sort thanks to my lovely Twins, but when het gets a 2 card hand with Blissey and one prize left, I knew it was time to scoop.

Fortunately, Games 2 and 3 had real starts to them! These were actually incredibly intense games, and at one point I had top decked a Crobat G in addition to a Level Down for a surprise kill on his Snorelax X. I managed to kill that demon Blissey, and from there he scoops.

WHEW!!

Top 4 of Top Cut: vs LuxChomp

I worry a bit about this matchup, but I was able to get Trainer Lock starts on both games. At one point, he pulls off a double kill that surprisingly fuels the game for me, as I was able to drop a bunch of cards from my hand and set up, as well as Twins for the needed Warp Energy for my Bright Looked Vileplume. He knew it was GG after that. Not too much else to say other than congrats for making Top 4 and pulling the Machamp Prime I desired! :p

Top 2 of Top Cut: vs GeChamp

During the previous round, I noted to my incredible disbelief that Nick and Jared, the ex-Seniors of before, had in fact actually made Top 4 like I said! Premonitions much?? Regardless, I had played agianst this deck before and both of the games were very similar. Game 2 started off better for him, but while he managed to get out 2 Gengars thanks to Spiritomb, he had no Psychic energy on either of them, nor did he have a way to retreat his Tomb. Taking advantage of this, I made sure he had no energy and I picked off both of them. At this point, Jared knew the game was over, and apparently decided to have fun in the last game, stacking 4 energy of his Spiritomb for fun over the turns of my Compound Pain set up for the game. Fun games Jared, in two meanings of the phrase!

So there's the story! Thanks for taking the time to read this, and I hope you enjoyed it! :)

Actually, that's a good point Gabe. I didn't really realize it until after I typed it out.... Props and Slops were COMPLETELY unnecessary... -_-
I changed it now so isn't so self-praising and more on the commentary of the battles themselves, which I assume is the reason why people make and read warstories. Thanks for the criticism though! :)

great job demitri. congratz on doing great. i will have to boost up my vilegar to beat jasons 5-0 luxchomp

I didn't know your name was spelled with a "K" Kameron! If you want to take a look at my list, I'm totally fine with that. In fact, I'm not the type of guy to horde a list all to himself, so if anyone else is interested, just shoot me a PM! :)

It's cause your list is pretty much the same as any other list save for...1-2 techs that everyone knows you run lol.

well done man awesome job and seing u jared and nick in top cut also reminded me when we all were in seniors good time good times

Going undefeated. Very Impressive. You and your Slowking and those wavy arm movements that Jeff was doing. Freaking hilarous.
