So this is the last Battle Roads of the season and everybody in our group at the Thunder Gym(woo!) has won at least one BR this season. I am the last one so the pressure is on.
Nicole and I wake up at like really early'Oclock because we gotta pick up Jacob and make an almost two hour drive to get there. It was very enjoyable and when we get there, there arent that many people but then the crowd gets huge. So we fill out our lists and i decided on playing Cursegar.Then we wait for the for the rounds to start. Before the first round starts I find out its the biggest BR all season and I really know the pressure is on me now.
Round 1 Vs Pokedad w/ Ampharos Prime/ Typhlosion Prime/ Garchomp Pop 9
Well we shuffle up and I look at my hand and all I see is a freakin unown Q
So while the announcements are going on im praying he doesnt have the donk because im going first. So we flip them over and he has a mareep and a baltoy so i knew that i wasnt gonna get donked. I think he candys into ampharos prime attaches and passes. I think thank god and proceeded to get setup. I get a gastly and spiritomb i think and warp his baltoy and my tomb active. I attach and darkness grace. I get completely set up and start shadow skipping him untill his claydol dies and he sends up ampharos. I Keep switching and he kills whatever i bring up but eventually i knock it out. Then he brings up garchomp pop 9 and flips 2 heads for the knock out on my mime i think? I dunno this game is kinda fuzzy. All i know is it came down really close, like 1-1 close, when it shouldnt have because of my misplays and dumb luck. But i ended up pulling out the victory.

Round 2 Vs Ross w/ Cursegar
So I heard that there was a lot of Gengar in Corvallis, but i didnt know there would be THIS much. The round starts and he flips over a mime and baltoy to my lone gastly. I get to go first.... again yay! So i attach and pitch dark. He does some stuff and gets a claydol and gastly with and energy and passes. THis is where it starts to get sort of epic. Like I have a completely dead hand with no supporters but i do have haunter/dusknoir/candy/energy/belt/warp point/something. So im like in complete topdeck mode. By turn two i have a belted haunter and i warped his gastly active to hit for 40. He does some more stuff and I think gets a haunter and passes. I draw...its a freakin cursegar!! In my mind i was freakin out so i can now shadow skip and i think he brought out a gengar for who knows what reason so i 'skip it for 80 and ten to a uxie. So he has a gengar but no energy so he passes. Then i topdeck an azelf. I think ok its my only option right now. I time walk to find a duskull!! What luck! SO i get that and rearrage my prizes so i get a roseannes i found there when i get a prize. So he has a gengar with 80 on it and 2 energy and i say screw it and palm it back. Now i have board control and shadow skip a jirachi for a prize. He is struggling and i think puts up a spiritomb and graces. Next turn i get a uxie and tomb with roseanes and proceed to get setup without claydol the whole game and sweep him for 5 straight prizes. It was Crazy. GG

We break for lunch and everybody is doing pretty good with our matches and then I see who im paired up against.
Round 3 Vs Jacob!!!!!
Ok so first of all, lame. I really dont like when i travel with someone almost two hours just to have to play them haha. But i guess is was just fate or something. We flip our stuff over and i have a tomb. baltoy, and a gastly to his luxray, something. I figure ok i have a pretty good start, but i find out he has a better one. I go and attach and grace for a claydol. He goes and gets like superhackercheat draws haha and gets the t2 Bright look he needed to get my gastly. He then proceeds to basically roll me and i think i took maybe one prize and i dont even remember how i did it haha. He was able to snipe or bright look everthing at the perfect time and i was glad he was doing so well with a deck he put together the morning of the event hahah. GG Jacob(We are counting on you at nats to represent!!)

I actually get a pretty decent start with spiritomb, gastly, baltoy to his tomb nidoran i think. I realize from round two that getting dusknoir is clutch in the mirror so after i get claydol and a gastly with energy i start darkness gracing for dusknoir. I didnt even care how obvious i was being hahah. But i dont think he know what it did so he didnt pay attention to it and misplayed his bench. He knocked out two of my things with a fully powered gengar and then i was able to dark palm it all back and start shadow skipping him. Then he misplayed his bench again with a Uxie or tomb or something to get setup so i palmed his nidoqueen. He basically couldnt come back and i was able to get the win. GG

Next round Nicole and I go to the pairings to see that we are paired up...AGAIN! Its ridiculus! Like almost every tournament we get paired up against eachother haha.
Round 5 Vs Nicole w/Jumpluff
The morning of the tournament she decieded to put in regice just for the cursegar matchup because it was so prominant in this area and the only cursegar she played was me Anyway we get set up and i get a tomb baltoy gasly to her hoppip crobat or something i think haha. She starts and bounces for 10 i think. Then i proceed to get another tomb for regice and an energy an get set up while locking her trainers. I dont even think there was a jusmpulff Im sorry baby! Then she said after it was over that I had to win and take it all! So im doin it for my girl

After watching the last round and talking to some people I could almost guarantee I was gonna play Andrew Jackson who is an extremely good player, took second in regionals, AND beat me in Salem.
Round 6 Vs Andrew Jackson w/ Jumpluff
I knew it!! We shuffle up and i get a tomb, tomb, baltoy gastly to his baltoy I believe. I think i go first and attache and darkness grace for claydol. During his turn he has to attach an energy to baltoy timewwalks for sableye retreates and impersonates a collector
for luxray hoppip uxie. I evolve into haunter and attach and start cosmic-ing to get stuff, then i grace for gengar. He lays down the luxray and the hoppips and then he uses his two cosmics to get a jumpluff up and running and he mass attacks my spiritomb. By this time there is BTS on the field and i know i have a turn to get rid of the luxray before it wrecks my day. I have a dusknoir and dusclops in my hand and i know i wont be able to cosmic for a lot of cards so I basically gotta top deck what I need. I flip the card over with suspense and it is..... a DUSKULL I immediately drop it all down and before i do anything else i palm his luxray and i hit his pluff and switch. He tries to get luxray again and masses my tomb. I draw and switch dark palm his lux again, move the damage off of the pluff and shadow skip. So he doesnt have alot left so he sends up azelf to lock me up while he gets set up and he knocks out two two tombs with it, while the whole time i am limiting his bench so he cant play luxray and can only have one pluff because he has 2 claydols. After he kos the last one i send up gengar and us curse off of my two gengars to put damage on a benched hoppip dark palm the other one and shadowskip for knockout on azelf and 10 to the hoppip for another one and switch into one of the two mimes i got. At this point it was like 2-1 prizes in my favor and he decides to scoop. That was a great game man and it was definitely a big challange. GG

So Nicole, Jacob and I wait around for top cut and i am very nervous because i think that i will be able to make it in. It is announced and it is Jacob, Me, Steve B, and Mike B. But a little while after it was announced i found out that Steves ride had to leave so i basically automatically made it to top two which is lame because i would have liked to work for it, but i suppose a win is a win, but it still sucked.

Top 2 Vs Jacob w/ Luxchomp
I finally made it! In the top two wooo! And it is against one of my friends as well The thunder Gym definitely represented
Game one:
We shuffle up shake hands and the game is on. I have a unownq start GREAT! Im like he has a bajillion ways to donk me but he started with lucario and unown g so it was alright. I go first and hit him for 40 with hidden power. He does some stuff but he didnt get very good draws IIRC so he had to call or pass, i forget. Next turn i get a fast SF gengar and take a prize off of his unown g. he still cant get lucario out of the active and passes. I am able to shadow room a baltoy while setting up a gengar on the bench and i think he snipes something. But i am pretty far ahead at this point and am able to pull out the victory in the first game.

Game Two:
I get a tomb gastly start and he gets another lucario Gl start :/ sorry man. I start getting set up pretty quick but i didnt judge when i knew he had lux x in his hand that he time walked for but i knew that getting set up was more important than getting rid of it. so he has the luxray. Next turn he bright looks my claydol and tries like two setups to get the extra energy or gain but he cant do it and his bronzong is prized so he just has to pass. So the next turn i warp out claydol and start shadowskipping. I hit the luxray and start stacking damage on claydol while I build another cursgar on the bench. Then I dont think i had a tomb so he turns the luxray and flashbites my gengar like 3 times but doesnt do anything with it, i think he was getting rid of trainers but then he snipes my claydol. I think because of a prize or two i have gengar X so im leveling down his garchomp and got a tomb and was able to hit him for 60. HE couldnt heal it and i killed it. I think i did it to his lux too but i dont really remember how. That game was fuzzy because i was all jittery hahaha. All i know is i was waiting so i could level him down and drop the belt i had gotten from my prizes to take my last prize and win the game! Good game Jacob and im glad you could be my opponent in top!
