So, I don't normally play in cities tournaments, because i am usually judging. However, this one was an exception. This tournament would be the last one for one of my best friends, who has joined the Air Force and is shipping off on the 26th of this month. So our group got together at my house after some intense laser tag to decktest/deck build. I had been trying to decide on a new deck after becoming bored with Gechamp. A couple of weeks back, I saw elekid_957's article on HoPe. I was intrigued because it seemed like my type of deck. So, I looked at the list, and played around with it. I was instantly loved it. I took that list, then changed it by using my own techs for the metagame i expected at the Cities. After testing, and random jokes, we all went to sleep around 1:30-2:30am.

Enough of this background stuff, now to the report!!! :D

Rd. 1: Alex R. w/ BlaziVire

He opened with a Rhyhorn to my Honchkrow G. I don't really remember much about this one, but I Flashbit some stuff and sniped with Honchkrow. I ended up getting an Expert Belted Mewtwo Lv. X and just ran through his Electivire FBs and Blaziken FBs. GG man.

1-0

Rd. 2 : ??? with Machamp-Luxray Gl

This was not really a game. My start was terrible. My hand: 2 Psychic , 1 Dark, Expert Belt. Cyrus, and 2 Turns. I started with a lone Crobat G to his Luxray Gl. I ended up going first. Draw is a Shuppet. I benched the Shuppet and attached a Psychic to it and passed. He played Cyrus and got Lightning, Turn, and a Roseanne's. Attached a Gain, Lightning and used Bite for 60. Next turn, drew a Poketurn. Expert belt to Shuppet, PokeTurned the Crobat. Flashbite, Poketurn, Flashbite. Poketurn Flashbite. the Fade out for the KO. GG

2-0

So it's lunch break, friends and I go to Nibon and I get some chicken katsu curry. However, it took awhile to get the food, so we only had enough time to eat the salad that came with the food. Good salad though. ;D

Rd. 3: Lauri H. w/ Mother Gengar

Ugh not a fond memory of this game. Couldn't get the power lock going early, so I went aggro with Expert Belted Uxie and Honchkrow G/Crobat G. Got up a couple prizes early, but then I got too many Supporters and stuff in my hand, and i got giested to death. major sad face.:nonono::nonono: GG

2-1

So about now I'm getting that feeling that I've already peaked, and I'm and starting to downhill, But again, one loss is not going to kill me. unless it snowballs to a losing streak.
Now, on to the next round.

Rd. 4 vs ??? with Tangrowth/Sceptile

This game slightly worried me, only because of my start. Pretty good start, Honch start with Crobat in hand, and a Toxicroak G. However, I had no supporters, and no way of getting energy save topdecking. D: He starts with two Tangela. I'm kinda stocking up Powersprays and hoping for a topdeck. Dingding! i got me a lux ball. :D I use it to search an Uxie and and Set up for 4. Then everything came together. Honchkrow/Crobat for some prizes, and then Blaziken FB cleaned up the rest. He only got 4 energy the entire game, and wasn't drawing supporters or anything. GG

3-1

Rd. 5 Ryan P. W/ Shuppet donk.

Not good guys. Ryan 's part of our group, and we were both very sad we had to play each other. This matchup I was worried about only because the trend for the day was me starting with 1-2 basics.. >.>
My start: Sableye. His: 2 unown Rs. My problem: I had to go first. i couldn't do much, so i just Impersonated for a Roseannes, and got honch/crobat. His turn. uhh, emptied his hand, Uxied, Roseanned for the Shuppet and energy. expert belt, used R, and just to make a long story short, he donked me.
Oh well, can't win them all. GG

3-2

So I'm not really expecting to make top 8, though there is a chance, a small one. We check the standings, and it turns out I made it, as the 8th seed. What was more awesome, was that 4 of my buds made it as well. Unfortunately, that meant we would have to play to each other. Then, turns out one person drops from top 8 so another person made it in, and I moved up to 7th seed. and then we started.

Top8: Jason S. w/ ScizorCherrim

Game 1:I went aggro with Honch/bat, since he has no powers, therefore, PowerSpray is useless. I got up a couple prizes till he got some cherrims and a scizor. even with blaziken it was still bad. We did trade prizes for a bit, but then he got ahead, and I misplayed by not poketurning my damaged Blaze, which would have made things easier and maybe i could have won, but w/e. GG

0-1

Game 2:
This game is a little hazy, but I do remember going crazy on his cherubi's, ko-ing them with honch/bat and taking quick prizes, and then i had blaze clean up. he did manage to get a cherrim, but i ended up knocking out the scythers and other stuff. GG

1-1

Game 3:
This one made me so happy. Expert belted Sableye with the help of Crobats got me ahead 2 prizes vs his expert belted scyther. After that, he was very shocked and saddened, but got up a cherrim and startedto get things set up, but then time was called, and i was up 4-6. GG man, and I will see you at Ultimate tomorrow.

2-1

Top4:
opponent dropped, however i had to go against my toughest opponent: coloring book and crayons
Dinosaur coloring book to be precise. i sat there and colored 5 pages while we all just chilled while the other t4 match went on between my other friends. 1 hour well spent I think :D

Top 2: Andrew O. w/ Pl0xTomb Belt

Another one of my friends, and the one matchup I did not like, because of one thing: SPIRITOMB.

Game 1: He didn't start with spiritomb. I was happy. i got the early jump on prizes. However, i was worrying about the upper energy drop, but he didn't get any the whole game. he runs 3 of them. after awhile of some trading of prizes and some Wagers and me recycling the Shuppet-Belt, i was still ahead and had a good grip on the game, so he scooped. GG

1-0

Game 2: he had me go first. I started with a lone sableye to his baltoy start
i had everything to get the donk on him, including the Crobat and turns if necessary. But there is one problem: no energy. Draw: not an energy D< so i just impersonate for a roseannes, and get a honch and dark. His turn, he gets some basics, attaches to baltoy and ends up drawing 7 cards off of my hand with psychic balance. my turn. played moonlight, E-gained Honch and dropped some Bats to snipe a benched ralts with an expert belt. Got ahead, he got a garde and upper energy and started to pl0x me. but by then, i started to recycle the Belted shuppet, even with his wagers i still managed to keep some sort of recycle, going of uxies/shuppet with Expert belts , not to mention the lack of sleep was starting to get to us, but i had the game in hand pretty much, so he scooped. GG

2-0

thanks guys :D

@ elekid_957: i know, it's slightly nerve-racking for me, but usually i'll draw a basic on the first turn so i guess it all works out

Congrats on winning!!!! Thanks for the good game. It's always a challenge, fun, and never a dull moment to playing against you.
