I've found that Luxray actually does have a tougher matchup than one would think against Kingdra. Sure it has Kingdra's weakness, but it is slower to setup most of the time. And its tough to make a comeback when being swarmed by Kingdras that can attack for 1 energy. Tough to outspeed. And tough to just keep up with the swarm.

This is a good point, and a widely made misconseption. If anything, it's Kingdra with the adventage in the match up. Why? Because Luxray 2HKOs Kingdra for 2 energy, and Kingdra 2HKOs Luxray for only 1. Not only this, but a Claydol dies in four turns, slowing you down a bit. Furthermore, Kingdra generally can attack T2-3 almost every game. Luxray cannot do the same, it needs more back up, or set up, however you want to put it. Sure, Luxray may get an occasional 1HKO, but it can't make up for every 2HKO Kingdra has been unleshing all game.

i know that it's inconsequential, but i really like the art on this card Luxray looks intimidatingly awesome.

art aside, this is a very decent card. it doesn't make my jaw drop at all, but i'm willing to give this card a shot. its power, in an era where we are seeing a lot of lvl x being played, makes its attacks very affordable, given the damage that they do. the zero retreat cost is wonderful, and its weakness and resistance don't sway me too far in either direction.

this might find its way into my magnezone deck if i can make the room.

I rate Luxray 7/10. It seems like it should be a lot better than it is when actually used.

Luxray is simply amazing. If you think its not then your not using right. Powers itself up and adds 50 damage if your opponent has a lv. X? Amazing.

If you don't think/know that luxray can Shock Bolt every turn then you know nothing of a good luxray deck. Luxray 1 shots Kingdra, Kingdra 2 shots Luxray, Luxray wins end of story.
