What? Mom's Kindness - Butterfree scan comes up!

Anyway, the card... Butterfree has some T1 potienal, but only if you get lucky (lol, this guy at my league used to run it... he almost always got T1 Free). If you don't, it's not that good, save the Free Retreat and potienal Annoyer-power. Dozing Scales doesn't inflict much damage, and it's a little flippy (I hope I get Tails! *Gets heads*). Parallel Drain is an okay healing attack (like an extra-Potion and more!), especially for one Energy, and it still does 30 damage. 120 HP is pretty good, more then Gardevoir and Magmortar, less then everything else. =D Weakness is bad, Magmortar and the new Infernape MD will hurt it. So...

7/10

Mom Kindness evolved into a Butterfree? Lol.

It's a nice card, but it does not have a really stable attack output against the strong decks :p

It's a cigarette for magmortar, and MD infernape smokes it to!
Decent card, but broken in actual metagame.

Mom's kindness = 0/10000

Buterfree on the other had gets a 7/10 because it's not that bad (30 or more off of anyone on my field) and the second attack will hit with a status condition, plus free retreat and it could be T1!

In the right hands this card can be beastly in an empoleon filled area. 9/10 when played by a lucksack. 7/10 when played by everyone else.

Buterfree is a nice underrated card. Mags really held it back at states & regionals, but after MD I expect that we will see a bit less fire in format. Folks will try ape but the new Empoleon, Glaceon, Vaporeon, and Omastar will make their lives hard paving the way for cards like Buterfree to have a shot.

Buterfree also has potential against what looks to be one of the nasty post MD combos ... Omastar + TGW. Sure they might devolve the backup attacker you are building on the bench. But one coin flip on your turn and he's baaaack. Both MD Kabutops & Omastar get really sad when they see Buterfree.

Edit - notices the irony of posting this just after "Kabutops141" ...

It's a good card only because of the fact it can end up being turn 1. 1 Grass energy to do 30 is good and it let's you heal damage from any of your pokemon. It's second attack for GGC is flippy but will always nail you a status effect and dose 60 damage wich is not too bad. It's weakness to fire holds it back in the last format but with more water comming out scaring away the fire decks this card may actully see moere play. No resistance is not good (why did it not get resistance to fighting? oh well) And free reatreat cost is the best retreat cost out there.
Because of it's ture 1 possibilatys I will give it 7/10
If it cant' then 5/10

Its a really great card for the time in the latter game when you're best attackers are about to be KO'd. Bring this guy up and switch. Before you know it, you're back in the game.

9/10-Lmited

8/10-Unlimited

Thinking outside of the box, I think butterfree can fit into many decks.

I've always thought it would do well in a darkrai/weavile deck, since it has the unique clause that it removes as much damage from anyone as damage you do, so increasing its damage makes it a semi-viable wall. It's great that not many things resist grass, so it'll generally get at least 30 back.

120hp is pretty decent considering how quickly it comes out. It even passes the 110 mark that some pokemon struggle to hit

If grass was a prevalent weakness, butterfree might actually be overpowered :p

6/10 better than average, but not too noteworthy.

It's arguably one of the best T2 (or thereabouts) Pokemon in th game. The only argument is "do I want something that can be stronger than Quickitune, but is useless with bad flips?". Also good to run Cessation Crystal with.
9/10

Butterfree is a pretty neat card; it's probably the only Stage 2 that you can get out Turn 1 via Caterpie and Metapod's Poke-Powers (unless you're going second and Rare Candy something, which is still technically Turn 2). Statwise, Butterfree is solid with 120 HP, +30 Weakness to Fire (bad considering Magmotar's popularity), and no Resistance or Retreat Cost. Parallel Drain deals a solid 30 damage for 1 Grass Energy, and can be a nifty tool for healing as well. Dozing Scales is a bit expensive at 2 Grass and 1 Colorless for 60 damage, but you will either Poison or put the defending to Sleep.

Modified - 6/10 (Makes for a good rushing deck, but what really limits Butterfree is a good, solid damaging attack. Being weak to Fire doesn't help)
Limited - 8/10 (If you get some Caterpie and Metapod, make sure you play him! He's one of few cards that can be evolved into without drawing him)
Unlimited - 1/10 (No use here)
