Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

2008 Idaho State Pokemon Championships

I dunno how many to expect. Depends on how many come from Washington and what Idaho usually pulls by itself. Should be pretty good sized I bet like 60-70 is my guess. I could be way off though. Everyone leave early that morning too rain is predicted right now for Saturday.

whoo yeah!!! Just a few hours away. We're sitting here in our hotel room in Boise just hanging out making our final preparations. The head judge is in our room too soo I know we won't have any problems tomorrow!

Ultimatedra is giggling like a little school girl now and is still drinking his 5 gallons of Mt Dew which made us have to stop 3 times on the way up here. It's only a freaking 4 and a half hour drive too!

Idaho State Championship was awesome!

Jim did a terrific job and the event went off just wonderfully. He's definitely a pleasure to work with and I hope I get the chance and honor again to do so. It was great to see so many new players there as well.

Props to Terry for helping on the fly in getting so many of the junior division decks tournament legal.

Rob did an excellent job from start to finish as well. From proven master of deck-checking to judging he brought a lot to the tournament and doubtless we couldn't have done so well so fast without his help in every area he was involved in.

The final match in the Masters Division was incredible. 58 minutes on round 1 in a battle that I have to say was one of the best I have seen in a while. Carefully planned attrition was seen crafted to a necessary art. Definitely a pleasure to judge.

The win, however, has to go to a player in the Junior Division. Bless their hearts, they say the most awesome things! Player A was going to be real close to knocking out Player B's Grottle next turn then watched as Player B evolved their Grottle to a Torterra. After a moment of sizing up this new development, Player A said in the most honest and un-sarcastic way, "A Torterra? This is going to take some more time." We should all be so lucky to enjoy the game like they do :)

So, in a nutshell, that's my two-cents worth.

Age winners for Idaho

Hello all.

I want to send props out to all of the Judges: Simba (HJ)-Juniors, Rob L (Seniors), And Terry K (Masters), you guys did a tremendous job and were magnificent to work with! The judging was fair and accurate and I learned alot from you guys this being my first State tournament. All those from Utah who helped you guys are what pokemon is all about, the great spirit of the game and your why pokemon is fun! Now to the winners.

Juniors:
1st place - JW - Gardelade
2nd place - DD - Garchomp/togekiss
3rd place - DM - Blastoise/Magnezone
4th place - KR - Blastoise/Exploud/Dialga

JW has been a force this year in Idaho and DD has been right on his heels I look forward to their battles over the next few years. Idaho captures the juniors! Great job guys!

Cam and Ulysses have been battling for supremecy this whole season. Cam has just had a great start to his season and has gotten better with each tournament and his battles with Ulysses, who has upped his play also, are a joy to watch as these two fine pokemon players have the best pokemon spirit ever. Idaho keeps its State championship at Home here in the Seniors too. Super job to all the players in this division.

Colin S. and Dylan M., what can I say about your match, 1 game 58 minutes of the finest pokemon I've seen played. You guys were phenominal! Thanks for coming to Idaho it was a pleasure to have you two fine young men here to play. Just an epic battle. Adam M. represented Idaho well with a third place finish. The Idaho players continue to improve with each season so keep up the good work all you master players.

52 Total players was our best State ever! I want to thank all the parents and players if it weren't for you this game wouldn't be as exciting as it is. You make me want to continue to grow the game by your encouraging comments and all you help and dedication.
