[gal=34904] 2009-10-19 Mewtwo MD 9/100[/gal]

1st yay.

Definitely the better choice of Mewtwo to play out of the two. Energy Absorption is great after a Giga Burn. 7/10

Discarding an energy from a Pokemon who already needs too many to restore most(half) HP: not very worth it

Sixty damage for PPC: still not very worth it

Doing 120 damage every other turn on a Basic Lv. X that ignores the effects of all other Basics: freakin' priceless

Without the level X, 4/10
With the Level X, 9/10. I would never use another Mewtwo.

The other Mewtwo is better as far as Mewtwo's go (without the lv X). Its a much better starter and ends up having more hp cause its not double weak. This one is better for the lvX though.

6/10

This Mewtwo alone without the Level X is not so great. It can get energies on itself to do a decent 60, and it can also heal itself in a pinch. 90 HP isn't that bad either. 5/10
With the Level X, Energy Absorption is great to do 120 every other turn while being a hassle to pretty much all SP decks. Why would any other Mewtwo be used under the X?

This mewtwo is far better because you should never use mewtwo without the level x being in the deck. that wouldnt make since escpecially since it came in a tin. So the times 2 weakness is gonna be there when you level up regardless and recover isnt that bad when you are playing and deck that revolves around basic pokemon (sp) because they will probably be flashbiting, poison structuring, and possible spinning attack with claydol. so recovering could keep him full healed for a majority of the game. energy absortion for obvious reasons with level x.

7/ 10 if running mewtwo x as a tech, this mewtwo is your better option

i have it

use mewtwo lvl x on there

MONEY

with lvl x: 8/10
without lvl x: 5/10

Yes my favorite, this card is perfect for the lv x, just combining it with something else to complete a deck is the tricky part.

10/10

This Mewtwo + Lvl X = SP deck stall.

I'm testing this with Dusknoir SF1. Night Spin handles low energy decks.

7/10

This Mewtwo is pretty much the better one to use for the Level X. On its own though, it's not really that bad as compared to other basic precursors to the Level X's *coughStaraptorFBcough*.

HP of 90 is nice for a non-evolving Basic, weakness to Psychic is expected and not really good, while 2 retreat cost is expensive for a Basic (although Moonlight Stadium solves this problem).

Energy Absorption provides decent energy acceleration (especially early game with the use of Sableye and Felicity's, for example). However, are there any attacks that can make use of this? Sadly, the other attacks of this Mewtwo do not deal enough damage to be considered main attacks. Psyburn is quite expensive for a 60-damage attack. Recover, on the other hand, helps make Mewtwo last longer at the exchange of the discard (which you can get back by Energy Absorption next turn, anyway).

Ultimately, Mewtwo MD is pretty much necessary if you want to do the Level X's Giga Burn every other turn. You can also make use of Alakazam MT to prevent power usage early game and to help fuel Mewtwo's attacks via Energy Absorption.

Modified- 7/10 (definitely needed for the Level X)
Limited- 8.5/10 (decent energy acceleration and the attacks are not that bad)

Today's CotD is Mewtwo from MD, probably the best one out there at the moment and best for leveling up. Statwise, 90 HP is great for a Basic (on par with many Stage 1s), x2 Weakness to :psychic: hurts, no Resistance is common, and :colorless:colorless to Retreat is pricey. Energy Absorption is still good and basic, getting you 2 Energy out of the discard pile and onto him for nothing (which lets you set up his other attacks). Recover costs :psychic: (have to discard a :psychic: also) and you get to heal 60, which is helpful. And finally, Psyburn deals a decent 60 for :psychic::psychic::colorless. As your only other choice currently is the LA one, this one is miles ahead and the best choice to use.

Modified - 8/10 (Strong on its own, and can level up to become even stronger)
Limited - 10/10 (A great all-round Pokemon here if you play :psychic: Energy)
Unlimited - 2/10 (Better than the other Mewtwo, unless you're stalling with the Base set one)

Everyoen's already said it but...

Without X: 5/10 (Still decent)

With X (9/10)

Using a turn to repower Giga Burn in a pinch isn't that bad against SP decks. Most SP decks only run 1 mewtwo counter so you can really mess someone up if you play your cards right. (HAAHA SO PUNNY *GETS SHOT*)

Meewwwwttttwwwwwooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He's a legend. I'm so glad that they decided to take the Mewtwo card that used to pwn back in the original days of this TCG, give him more health, the ability to recover and a stonger Psyburn. I was thoroughly pleased upon finding out about this guy. He's the ultimate tech in Gengar decks along with his level X.

10/10
