It has some interesting potential with Heatran Lv. X, but it's a little flippy and if you fail the flip it's too slow and weak to do much. I like it though. It's fun.

5.5/10 [Given the current format]

A good tech in Blazetran or any other fire deck for late game.
Possilbe Power spray.
can only use the power one.
Has to be from discard
Attack is not great.
4/10

The Poke-Power is too flippy, and easily "Sprayable". And it is only useful lategame, unless you are using something like Felicity's to discard Fire Energy early.
The attack is OK, but 100 and discard 2, maybe 3 Fire is not so great. That being the only attack on the card is a drawback.
3.5/10

Bonus card 2 is Moltres from MD, a fun card that at least can work,..at times. Statwise, 100 HP is great for a Basic, x2 Weakness to :water: hurts, -20 Resistance to :fighting: doesn't matter much (unless he has Unown G attached, then it becomes good), and :colorless:colorless to Retreat is a tad pricey. Flame Charge is ok for a Poke-Power, giving you a chance to get 3 :fire: Energy out of your discard and onto Moltres when you play him onto the Bench with a Heads. Scorching Wing deals an impressive 100 for :fire::fire::colorless, but you then get to discard those pretty :fire: Energy off Moltres.

Modified - 6/10 (Works within a fun deck environment, but too flippy to be more competitive)
Limited - 8/10 (Well, if Flame Charge works, great, if not, he still is a solid Big Basic)
Unlimited - 2/10 (Better than 1 simply because you have regular Scoop Up to work with here)

4/10

I wouldn't even waste a spray on the power unless totally necessary. Another useless legendary unless as a late game tech in Blazetran (or other stuff that techs Heatran lvl. X)

Super fun in Charizard G deck lol. I had it benched to recycle fire energy and send it straight to Zard. Seriously funny when it works. Turn 2 for 150! lol

Moltres MD is somewhat more interesting compared to its other Legendary Bird counterparts from MD, simply because it pretty much combos with itself.

HP of 100 is great for a non-evolving Basic, weakness to Water is bad (especially for the x2 weakness, despite not being an SP), and 2 retreat cost is somewhat annoying to pay.

Basically, Moltres functions as a late-game attacker in fire decks. By the use of Flame Charge, it can be powered-up in a pinch. Most Fire attackers discard Fire Energy like there's no tomorrow (Infernape 4 LV. X, Magmortar LV. X, Blaziken PL) so it is not difficult to have those needed energies in the discard pile. Of course, it is also plausible to use Felicity's or Volkner's if you want to discard immediately. The downside is (and the reason why it is not used much) is that the power works on a flip. That might be tolerable, but upon the disadvantage of being a coming-into-play Poke-power as well, Flame Charge just seems very out of place to use in the competitive matches. A Power-Sprayable attack that relies on a flip is really bad today, and unfortunately, Moltres does not have the luxury to use Poke-Turn as a failsafe measure.

Scorching Wing is pretty much your usual powerful Fire attack that discards the energies. However, 100 for 3 with the discard is pretty weak nowadays and if not for Flame Charge, the attack would be pretty much unusable.

Moltres can be a nice tech in Fire decks, particularly ones that can manipulate energy on the board (like Charizard G LV. X) or with the aid of Energy Links. As a main attacker, it is pretty much outclassed by fellow Basics Infernape 4 and Blaziken FB in terms of speed and Energy efficiency. I guess the rule of thumb would be, if a Pokemon needs too much energy to perform an attack and at the same, does not have enough lasting power to use that attack before it is KO'd (which is very common for Legendaries and non-SP, non-evolving Basics), it is probably not worth it.

Modified- 5/10 (the power would have been great if not for the flip)
Limited- 7/10 (a decent energy accelerator here and Scorching Wing is a great late-game finisher)
