Great card, someone just needs to be sucessful with it and it will be a good deck.

Discarding expert belt gives you the extra 20 damage, but your opponent won't get 2 prizes!

8/10

Very Nice Card
Gadget Bolt is Very Powerful especially Combined with Expert Belt. The Free Retreat Help's As well.
8/10

This cards going to be ridiculous with DCE t2 100-120, for discarding a tool? Heck yes! porygon Z G with poketurn? this decks crazy.

9/10

Potenially very good once we get DCE. Without DCE it's a bit slow and, once the first Luxray dies, you can struggle.

The fact that you need to play a lot of Tools gives the deck some consistency issues.

7/10

What's slow about DCE? Do you mean it's hard to get because it's a non-basic energy? "slow" as a term doesn't make any sense if that's what you're trying to say. Also they'll have to do the whole 120 to your luxray or you can just retreat him and then use energy link to send up the energy to a new luxray. This decks got a lot more support than other decks out there.

7/10 now, 9.5 with the introduction of DCE. Screams expert belt spam, and the latest Arceus set introduced good alternatives to find and recycle tools.

Today's CotD is Luxray from AR, an ok Stage 2, but has nothing that makes it especially stand out. Statwise, 120 HP is a bit low for a Stage 2 (130 being common), +30 Weakness to :fighting: hurts, -20 Resistance to :metal: is ok, and no Retreat Cost is great. Flash is nice at 30 for :lightning: and a 50/50 chance of avoiding your opponent's Defending Pokemon's attack next turn. Gadget Bolt is a bit pricey at :lightning::colorless::colorless: for 60, but if Luxray has a Pokemon Tool on it, you can opt to do 100 instead in return for discarding the Tool, so if you run a bunch of Tools centered around this attack, it's decent.

Modified - 5/10 (It's not bad per say, but there are just better Pokemon and decks out there)
Limited - 7/10 (If you can get him out, Flash is a great cheap attack gives you time to get Gadget Bolt going)
Unlimited - 1/10 (No use here of course)

Yeah! I love this Luxray the best! I've got 2 of it in my Lightning deck. I have like 5 Pokemon Tools in my deck for Luxray.

1 :lightning: for 30 and 50% chance of your opponent can't attack during their turn and 1 :lightning: and 2 :colorless: for 60 unless you attach a Pokemon Tool to it and then it becomes 100 which is awesome. And the best thing is that the only consequence is discarding the Pokemon tool. So if you're not using very many energies in your deck, then you don't have to worry about discarding them. If I ever get my hands on more AR Luxray, I'm putting them in a deck with a lots of at least 10 Poke-Tools. Team up this Luxray with Electromagnetic Induction Raichu and you can fully charge it in a turn or 2.

Edit: +30 Fighting Weakness is harsh but -20 metal resistance is decent and then free retreat cost is sweet. 10/10

Flash can be disruptive, but is prevented by Unown G. And 3 for 60, 100, or 120 (Expert Belt) is costly to power up but powerful. The fact that the 100 can be achieved by using a Roseanne's for an Unown G is very good. No retreat cost is good, and Metal resistance is not so useful at the moment because Dialga isn't seeing a ton of play. 5/10

All I have to say is this: Upper Energy.

Granted, DCE is a much better alternative, but, until then, Upper's all we have.

Considering the amount of tools in the format to abuse (as well as all of the search and recovery that we just received), Luxray has a great deal of potential. A few of my favorite combos acttually involve the use of this guy and Unown G.

Other Combos to Ponder Upon:

The Electric Wookie
Memory Berry (AR Luxio and LA Luxio have decent attacks)
Any other tool except Buffer Piece
Unown G (as mentioned before)

And that's just the start. The only problem is getting this thing to actually work consistently... Seems to be a problem, for some reason.

7/10. It'll come through somehow.

I like this with Luxray GL and Bench Shield. Attach Bench Shield to a Luxray, use Luxray GL to bright look, then flash impact. Bench Shield protects Luxray from the 30 damage done by flash impact. And you have a tool already attached. I play a few bench shields and a few belts, 2 Luxray AR and 2 Luxray LA for sitiuations.

Kind of a fun combo if nothing else.

8/10... eventually.
