are the pop sets still gonna be legal?
If you read the thread the answer is NO.
are the pop sets still gonna be legal?
Gyrados- Loses Felicity's Drawing and Lunatune (But keeps Regice LA, making a Collector still able to effectively get rid of Magikarps)
Jumpluff- Also loses Claydol draw It doesn't honestly need it that badly though. Jumpluff can run a heavy Uxie line with a couple Cyrus and be fine for a good while
And more decks too!
Palkia Lock never ran Claydol to begin with,Beedrill is rotating,Stallgon is almost irrelevant anywayand more.
How so Hatter??Come to think of it.. MD-On pretty much saved Pokemon in my state. <3
I love how everyone was complaining how bad a PL-On format was going to be, and now that the format is MD-On, everyone is complaining about that. POP can't win.
I just realized!3 of the top 4 decks are now less playable to the fact that they may not be the best anymore.
Cursegar- Loses Claydol draw
Gyrados- Loses Felicity's Drawing and Lunatune
Jumpluff- Also loses Claydol draw
And more decks too!
Palkia Lock,Beedrill,Stallgon and more.
The way I see it. The top 4 will look something like this:
Luxchomp
Machamp Variants
Donphan
And some other SP variant
This is just my idea.
About the Porygons Remember, this is a MD-On format. Run a 3-1-2-2 Garchomp LV.X to restore your discarded Porygon-Z. Then play Porygon LV.X. Very hard to set-up, but still useable...barely. So time for me to build PoygonChomp-Z!
This must be a pretty hard decision for the OP so I'm wondering why keep any DP sets but I guess they only wanted to kill 3 sets and now no muore DP dusknoir, DP magnezone, some other cards other people mentioned, UNOWN G...
Meta = Machamp/Uxie, SP, maybe Donphan, Thats it.
i still think staraptor fb x is the most consistent engine for SP decks, but thats just me, i never thought uxies "fit" into sp decks
also nice tags.
You are right there is always he flock engine to rely on.
Noctowl
Dodrio
Staraptor FB
You can draw two cards a turn and search for any supporter you want.
this is true but takes up a bunch of space on the bench
in my deck i was running a 2-2 line of staraptor fb x, and would pull supporters as i see fit
if i had a pretty good hand and i just wanted to draw, id search out a prof. oaks visit
need pokemon? search for a collector
pokemon got knocked out? good thing i have a cynthias feelings in here.
it also helps getting around them pesky 'tombs
New changes have been made to the Modified format for Organized Play tournaments.
In the interest of maintaining a healthy tournament environment, Pokémon Organized Play removes older sets from the Modified format at the beginning of each new tournament season. Each rotation challenges existing players to create new strategies while enabling new players to get into Organized Play with a minimal investment.
Last year we announced that our goal was to have a Modified format that starts with 9 regular sets at the beginning of the season and ends the season with about 13 regular sets. Now that we have achieved that goal, we will continue to rotate sets each year to ensure that our Organized Play environment remains healthy and vital moving forward.
The Modified format for the 2010-2011 season will consist of the following sets:
Diamond & Pearl—Majestic Dawn
Diamond & Pearl—Legends Awakened
Diamond & Pearl—Stormfront
Platinum
Platinum—Rising Rivals
Platinum—Supreme Victors
Platinum—Arceus
Rumble
HeartGold & SoulSilver
HS—Unleashed
HS Trainer Kit
Black Star Promo Cards numbered DP22 and higher and Black Star Promo Cards numbered HGSS01 and higher.
In addition, future Pokémon TCG sets will become legal as they are released, per the Pokémon Organized Play Tournament Rules.

Oh no, we still have to deal with the ridiculous speed of Uxie and the annoying Gyarados SF, Gengar SF and Machamp SF. I'm glad Call Energies stay, but there are lots of cards that have had too much time in the format and simply need to go.
I'm not very happy about this. This means that SP because the dominant decks in the format, entirely. Without Claydol, Stage 2 decks don't stand a chance against SP, at all.
Yes!!!!!!!!!!! No more threads guessing about the rotation, w00t!!!
Wrong.
It eliminates all decks that needed Claydol, at least until a new draw engine is released.
There will be two competitive types of decks left:
- SP-decks (at least more variety than just Luxchomp)
- Gyarados
As I said, I'll wait for Clash of the summit, but there have to be VERY great cards (something similar to the Holon-Engine is the absolute mininum!) to keep the game alive.
PT-on wouldve been a kind of reset, start from scratch with many ugly things gone forever, then people couldve been able to focus on finding sp counters...
That is the most ridiculous format change ever... Oh wait... it isn't a format change! We're still going to be totally dominated by SP decks. No more Claydol for Stage 2 decks, no more Dusknoir for stage 2 decks.... awesome...
Please tell us that this is just one big "april fools joke"
Im scared, a format that sp dominates EVEN MORE.
I think this might be the best time to stop playing...
Honestly, you guys think its ok to just ask the pui guys what they had in mind when they did this? Would be really interesting..
Luxray is about to spike at prices higher than any Pokemon card that isn't a collectors item should ever hit. The only reliable draw power in the game will be Uxies and Ninetales. So every deck that doesn't play a Fire energy line will be obviously running Uxie. meaning the Luxray player, who still has Call energy in his deck to ensure getting 3 SP Pokemon out rediculously early, will be able to hold Sprays until the best moment, and then sweep through every other deck.
Seriosuly. The only important MD card is Call. They should;'ve AT LEAST rotated MD out D:
Am I the ONLY GUY who's noticed that our Claydol have only been used 1 or maybe 2 turns per game???
So... I'm thinkin I take out 2-2 claydol and put in a hand refresh supporter ?
Average game = 10 turns. It ain't that hard man.
SSU + Uxie + supporters = what the heck we've been doing for the past year anyway .... lol
and for the record. I freakin' LOVE MD-on. Really caught me offguard there.
People act like there won't be another 4 sets to bring us drawpower :/
Please tell that this is a "Late April Fools Day" joke. I'm so going to quit Pokemon again for next years format and going to stick to playing Brawl all year.
I was prepared that next year's format will be PL-on, but the mere fact that everything will stay the same pretty much bothers me. What's worse is Jumpluff, the deck i'm playing now will be worse without a viable counter to Luxchomp and Sablelock.
I wish there's some way we could write a petition to the POP company and tell them to make it PL-on!
I think POP's definition of a 'healthy game" is slightly different than "ours".
I am actually very glad (im sure everyone is) of Call Energy staying in the game. However the removal of Claydol complicates things a bit for stage 2 decks lol. Obviously this gives SP a huge leg up over the format. I suppose now that there is no more Unown G, stage 2 decks must tech machamp to have a chance with plenty of consistency cards like Chatot <3 communication <33, and cynthias.
Another crappy year of pokemon...... ugggh what a stupid format
Yes! No PLOX! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
When is this in effect?
Wow, talk about making a mistake with this rotation. ILY, TPCi.
This is trash.
Worse than I would have expected with PL-on.
Ahh, time to kick back and spend some time on other things for a year...
Why?
Just why.
If this a late april fool's joke , Not funny -not funny indeed ......
I'm just kinda wondering who put that "tpci trolling" tag down there. Somebody's in a good mood about this! [/sarcasm]
I love how everyone was complaining how bad a PL-On format was going to be, and now that the format is MD-On, everyone is complaining about that. POP can't win.
LIKE 20 PEOPLE said:are the pop sets still gonna be legal?
Although I love this format, I think this attitude is way too popular. If POP made Luxray X a league promo, I'd still find a way to complain. Complaining is not bad, contrary to the opinions of many people *coughsdpokemomcough*
Players do not owe POP anything and should not be thankful for what they get from a commercial company. (Though I have to admit the format is hard to complain about - LOVE all the donking and lucksacking possibilities!)
The replies are in bold.Machamp and no Unown G in format...
Toxicroak G...
Losing F. Drawing.... Gdos is crippled pritty badly.
And whats wrong with regice exactly?
Spirtomb start, machamp, found 2 counters for you.
Spiritomb has been in the format, a deck even centers around it being active most of the time, and right now it still has claydol, and yet sp is still dominating.
No need to ask, they alredey told us... "In the interest of maintaining a healthy tournament environment, Pokémon Organized Play removes older sets from the Modified format at the beginning of each new tournament season. Each rotation challenges existing players to create new strategies while enabling new players to get into Organized Play with a minimal investment."
This does not explain why they chose this rotation over another, just the goal of shifting a format period.
