This could go really great with Charizard, since it's drawing power that still goes towards Charizard's pokebody and kinda well with Typhlosion Prime, but not much else...... Also, calling this the next Claydol is really pushing it.................
9/10 for Charizard
7/10 for Typhy Prime (simply because I don't see this as a good deck......... especially not with Charizard :p)
1/10 for anything else (no point in throwing in fire energies just for this card, is there?)
10/10 on the artwork. Seriously, the artwork on a lot of HGSS cards is really high quality

Woo yeah, first!!!!!!!

good poke power
decent retreat
pretty good HP for 1st stage.

horrible attack cost..
horrible weakness xD

This card will be the new Claydol once Claydol gets phased out. Sure it will be exclusive to fire decks, but those ones are going to be the ones that get set up quickly.

7/10 for current decks
9/10 for all the fires in the future

Looks like we get to review one of the new Claydols of this format, Ninetales.

90 HP is fine for a stage 2, though the water weakness kind of hurts, but the retreat cost is OK compared to Claydol.

Ninetales is indeed a helpful drawing card thanks to the power. The power Roast Revival lets you discard a :fire: energy from your hand. Then you draw 3. Thus, this is almost a thorough reprint of Delcatty RS (or PK), but the difference is, the energy you discard needs to be :fire:. The attack it has though is a little too costly, but the good thing is, it hits for some decent damage.

Overall 7/10 in modified

It is no wonder Ninetales is a very good drawing card. It already replaces Claydol in :fire: decks. I can imagine one deck using Ninetales will become popular around states. That deck would be Charizard with A Typhlosion Prime tech, or a deck built around solely on Typhlosion Prime. It is simple for this deck. Discard a :fire: energy and draw 3, and then using Typhlosion Prime, you can attach the discarded energy to one of your Pokemon. In this case, Charizard or the Typhlosion. Thus, this creates good synergy for energy. The problem with Ninetales right now is that it is outclassed by Claydol, and the energy you discard must be :fire:, so when next years format comes, Ninetales will probably only find its place in :fire: decks. But still, it really can become the new Claydol of next year's format.

Say hello to the new card drawing machine... reminds me of Delcatty...

Must have engine for every :fire: deck... once Claydol fades into the sunset. I recommend you start using Ninetales now... to get used to this mechanic. (And I'd be trying to find ways to include :fire: energy in every deck... that's how strong this mechanic is.

7.5/10 Today.
10/10 Next Cycle.

6/10

But to be honest, this card could be very broken.

All down to the rotation, and if Claydol goes or not.

Right now?

One deck uses it, which isn't even that good, Charizard.

7/10

If your deck can run it come rotations (like various Normal decks and of course Fire ones) then you will have a leg up on every one else

I'm sorry.

No. Just no.

I don't understand why everyone calls this the 'new' claydol. You have to discard FIRE energy. Yes, for those of you didn't read, you have to discard FIRE. Which means, you need to tech in a good 5 fire energy in every deck that uses it. Plus, you have to have one in your hand before you can do anything! I would much rather use drawing T/S/Ss instead, or maybe the Noctowl from this set.

However, in fire decks, this thing's good. Claydol is still better, but , if you run Charizard, Ninetails might be that way to go, even if I still do recommend Claydol.

Once Claydol gets dropped off, I still would not use this, unless I ran a fire deck.

Now: 4/10 - Modified
After Worlds: 4.5/10 - Modified

*Waits to be eaten by Ninetails fans.*

I don't like how its draw power is limited to decks that run decent amounts of fire energy. Claydol can be used in pretty much every deck and can get you up to six cards as long as you have a card in your hand. Ninetales can only draw if you have fire energy, and it only gets three cards. While the added Fire Energy in your discard pile can combo with some other cards, overall Claydol is much better and more powerful.

7/10 in Fire decks
1/10 in non-Fire decks

This card is a good tech into fire decks as a whole. After Claydol gets taken out, this will be so much better. Ninetales adds good support to a fire deck types, especially Charizard that feeds off of large amounts of fire energy, and most fire decks in general because of their need to have a good influx of energies to discard. This one fire energy discard turns into a +2 in your hand, which isn't a bad thing at all, especially with a little card called Fisherman that also came out in the set. Also, if you not using this card as an attacker but instead a Claydol replacement, it has one less retreat cost than Claydol, making it easier to retreat out when playing more popular decks such as Blazeray or anyting that runs warp point. But overall this format has this card is left in the shadow of the Clay poster child of draw power.

This Format: 6/10
After Rotation: 9/10 (If Claydol gets taken out)

Mmm, pretty Ninetales GS, definitely a card that fits in well with :fire: decks and should see some nice play once Claydol and Uxie are gone...anyways, statwise 90 HP is average for a Stage 1, x2 Weakness to :water: could hurt, no Resistance is normal, and :colorless: to Retreat is cheap. Roast Reveal of course is the only reason to use this card, getting to discard a :fire: Energy from your hand to draw 3 cards is a pretty nifty Poke-Power. Will-o'-the-wisp of course sucks at :fire::fire::colorless: for 60, but you should never be attacking with this anyways.

Modified - 8/10 (An attractive option for :fire: decks, and definitely will be a must-play for them once rotation hits and Claydol+Uxie are presumably out)
Limited - 10/10 (Easy to buil a :fire: deck around this Pokemon, Roast Reveal is very valuable here)
Unlimited - 1/10 (Not much use here)

I have given this card a shot with charizard and found it wondrous. (The Typhlosion tech isn't needed at all, it runs surprisingly fast with just fisherman) Or you can test your moxy as a player and run this beautiful fox with a flaming monkey and burning head. Ditching fire energies will never have felt soooooo good.

10/10 for any fire deck
Not much use without it though

10/10 for any fire deck.
8/10 for any deck that runs fire energies.
7/10 for any deck that's willing to run those energies.
0/10 for anything else.

It's a good draw card, and has good synergy with Charizard AR and Typhlosion Prime GS.
