2010-3-11 Pichu GS 28/123

This would be a bit better if your opponent placed them first; however, it still has some uses. It is limited in the decks that it would be useful in and very risky in general.

The fact that it doesn't have baby evolution is more hysterical than a deterrant.

5/10 for being situationally good.

5/10, severely overrated card that helps your opponent too much. (imagine if it only let YOU set up!). It was great during pre-release.

Here come another baby! Wait a minute, its a special one, its Pichu!

Well, it sadly has 30 HP, too low for a basic, so it is an easy target for Gengar SF. At least has no weakness or retreat cost. =P

So like all the babies in HS, it has the Poke-body Sweet Sleeping Face, where simply, if it is asleep, it can't be damaged. This is pretty much its main form of protection. Playground for no energies is kind of useful. You and your opponent can search out any number of basic pokemon to fill up the bench. This may be helpful to you, but this also helps your opponent. Therefore, it isn't truly the best starter, and it only shines in Jumpfluff.

Overall 4/10 in modified

Well this is certainly a decent card. It really shines in Jumpluff, and only Jumpluff, because it helps to bring our lots of Pokemon in order to do maximum damage. In other decks, I wouldn't really recommend running it, as Call or Pachirisu are way more preferable. Also, Pichu is owned by Dialga G and Gengar SF, just like all the other HS babies. Dialga G brings fear because it locks the body, its main form of protection, and Pichu becomes easy to take dow. For Gengar SF, all it needs to do is Shadow Room and Pichu is gone. Thus, Pichu really can't shine that much currently.:nonono:

First of all, listen to this. I LOVE 'PLUFF! Which basically means I love Pichu too! Great card for 'pluff, but that's pretty much its only good point, so 5/10 any deck, 9/10 jumpluff.

Twinkle twinkle Amphy's tail,
Pichu's the card we all should hail,
came to us at the prerelease,

Holofoils are just so great,
Pity Pichu just got ate.

Today's CotD is Pichu from GS...well, definitely a card I don't care for too much. Statwise, 30 HP is just horrible (even for a Baby), no Weakness, Resistance, or Retreat Cost are all nice. Sweet Sleeping Face, I just hate, way too risky trying to keep Pichu asleep from his attack during your opponent's turn...still, being a passive Poke-Body, better than nothing I guess. Playgrounds is a nice attack though; for no Energy, you get to fill your bench with as many Basics as you like (though your opponent can opt to do the same as well). Still though, is that really worth a prize, especially considering all the other ways of filling up your bench? Maybe if you're swarming with Jumpluff or something this could be good, but for most decks, there are better choices to bench filling.

Modified - 3/10 (Works if you really need the swarming, otherwise this thing is just a free prize for your opponent)
Limited - 7/10 (Can get out crucial Basics if you happen to be holding their evolution card in your hand, plus Sweet Sleeping Face can stall, abet unreliably)
Unlimited - 1/10 (No use here)

This little guy looks fun but sucks in comparison to Call Energies. Every one's right about the necessity of it in Jumpluff in contrast to other dex.

Giving your opponents options on your turn... BAD, BAD, BAD...
30HP... why not just let your opponent start with 5 prizes instead of 6.

1/10.

A good starter, but Playground can also help your opponent set up. Bad if you are facing an SP deck... 30 HP is very bad, and the Poke-Body is usually not working because of Pichu waking up or being switched to the Bench. So this should only be used in a deck that requires a lot of Benched Pokemon, like Jumpluff. 4/10

I give it a 9/10 in Jumpluff, but a 5/10 in anything else.

Only due to the fact that it allows Jumpluff to set up and start hitting for massive damage.

I believe it is a great card if used correctly. If I used it, it would be in a Jumpluff deck, or a deck that I had Dusknoir in so I can Dark Palm the attackers. give it a 8/10!

This card is quite crumby. Both sides to grab as many basics as they like and put them on their bench? The whole point is to set yourself up not your opponent as well. This will madly increase the speed in the already speedy SP decks. Spirtomb, Gastly, Trapinch and many others can be pulled out fast too. This Pichu can't evolve into Pikachu due to no Baby Evolution. 30 HP is way too low. Only good things about this card are that it's got no weakness (but 30 HP is so low it doesn't need one) and it has free retreat. Other than that this card gets a big fat 0/10.
