Second! Yay!

Sigh, too bad it's not playable. The art work is so good.

3/10 -modified (There are much better options than this.)

.....-coughssuckscoughs-

i really hate how PUSA is gibing us such crappy promos....why does japan get all the good ones...

1/10 cuz it has an attack that does damage (if it doesn't get KO'd before you get the energy for it...)

This is going to be my 200th post on the gym, and today we get to see a promo card! Oh wait, we review a card that's not so great for my 200th post? What a shame!:frown:

90 HP is great for a stage 1. The weakness is just painful right now, the resistance is OK, and the retreat cost is a bit too heavy.

Well for one energy, it can do 20. This can be a fairly nice starting attack, but really not to be used late game. The second attack is kind of costly, as well as flippy. You do 50, and you flip two coins. For each heads, you do 50 plus 20 more. This means you can potentially do 90 damage, but you may not always expect to do so. DCE and Expert Belt however can give the second attack a good boost though.

Overall 1/10 in modified

Really, this card has no uses in this format right now. His attacks are too risky, as well as being expensive. Weakness to Luxray is very bad now, and thus it really lacks speed. This card, although DCE and Expert Belt give it a fairly good boost, just can't stand up in this format right now.:nonono:

Today's CotD is Lugia from the HGSS promo set, #2 it seems (I guess Ho-Oh is #1? No clue tbh). Regardless, it's yet more binder fodder... Statwise, 90 HP is great for a Basic, x2 Weakness to :lightning: is meh, -20 Resistance to :fighting: can help, and :colorless::colorless: to Retreat is meh. Wave Splash deals a simple 20 for :water:, no thrills here. Aeroblast is horribly overpriced at :water::water::colorless::colorless: for a mere 50+ 20 more for each Heads you flip from 2 coins; not even DCE makes this worthwhile.

Modified - 1/10 (No reason to use this card)
Limited - 0/10 (Promo card, but if you could somehow use it, it's worth considering in :water: decks just cause he's a big Basic)
Unlimited - 1/10 (No use here whatsoever)

4 for a chance of 90? That's so bad. Even with DCE, that move is still horrible. 4 should be for a guaranteed 90. 90 HP is too low, Fighting resistance is normal for what's supposed to be Psychic/Flying. 2 to retreat is a bit costly. Whoever chose to make Lugia a water type Pokemon in card form should be fired. Esp. after they've been making it Psychic or Colourless in every other set it's come out in. Lugia is PSYCHIC/Flying not Water/Flying.

It is too slow and too pricey to be effective. Lightning Weakness pretty much says that it instantly dies to Luxray, which is really popular right now. Aeroblast is just too underpowered. For 4 Energy, I'd like my attack to do more than 50 with a chance of going up to 90. 90 HP for a basic is kind of nice, though. 2/10

If it really was 20 coins I would run it o_O xD
Had to point that typo out bc it made me laugh

I'd play any card that had me flip 20 coins, just for the fun of it. I'd keep them all in a bag, and just drop them all at once.

... Oh right, there's a card up there. Ehh... At least it's better then the Ho-oh promo? It's really good for looking pretty in my binder?

It's like most promos. Very upsetting and not worth the space.
2/10.

Nice reference to "How I Met Your Mother"

Buh, binder fodder. BINDER FODDER THAT I CAN'T FIND ANYWHERE!!!!!!
1/10, maybe more if I could actually find somewhere to buy the stupid thing (but probably not)

lugia

it can work with feraligatr to speed it up?...nah might as well USE feraligatr's crappy attack instead of lugia's.
I give it 3/10 for the first attack, resistance, and artwork.

This card is too slow for competitive play, but it's nice in a beginner's League deck. It's a no-frills card, but for starters learning the mechanics of the game, simplicity is the best policy.

20 for one Water energy on a basic with 90 HP isn't terrible. It has the potential to donk for 40 with belt on turn one but it's situational that you're going up against a water weak pokemon or a pokemon with that low HP. If the second attack was reasonable (WCC for 40 and a coin flip for an extra 20 maybe) this might see some extra play. This card is rarely dealing 90 for 4. The best part about it is the first attack and even that is only situationally exceptional. Bad retreat and nothing really cool about this card means it doesn't even get aesthetic points.

So unless there's a pokemon out there who's weak to water and can't survive a turn one 40 damage (or 80 if you belt) then this is binder fodder pure and simple.

Constructed: 3/10 (only cuz Phanpy hates this guy)

The art of this card is just awesome. Anyways, this card is best left for binder or collecting purposes.
The HP is very good for a basic, the weakness is bad due to Luxray GL and the retreat cost is bad for a flying type.
The first attack is mediocre, doing only 20 damage which is not fast enough this format. The second attack is very forgeatable too because it costs 4 energy and its flippy. It can do 90 damage, or 70, or 50. Flips are not something you want to consisntely rely on...
1/10
But the art is pretty cool
