2010-4-4 Buneary AR 55/99

Huh?.... First?...

Well, it's a Buneary. Early in the game, when you would most likely have Buneary entering play, very few things have damage on them, so sniping 20 for C isn't that bad. 50 HP is a low number, and 1 Retreat is inconvenient but perfectly fine.

If there was a decently playable Lopunny, it would be rated fairly well.
As it is, 3/10

Its THE EASTER BUNNY!!! WHERE IS THE EGG.

I give this card a 10/10 for cuteness.
But in reality this card would get a 3/10.

Hits Garchomp C for 40 T1, if you go 2nd, you could even lay down a couple PlusPowers for the OHKO!!

2/10 for being one of the worst choices for a Buneary
10/10 for doing the Bunny Hop on Easter!!:thumb:

HOPPY EASTER EVERYONE!!

good to start with if they have 1 of 2 bench. but after that its worthless 2/10

wheres Lucky Egg !!! we got the bunny, need the egg !

Well, what a nicely appropriate card for the holiday. Happy Easter everyone!

As such, today's CotD is Buneary from AR, a cute little rabbit Pokemon that steals Starly eggs and paints them in fun colors. Statwise, 50 HP is a bit low for a Basic (60 being average), +10 Weakness to :fighting: is eh, no Resistance is common, and :colorless: to Retreat is cheap. Bunny Hop is useful initially, letting you deal a nice 20 to any of your opponent's Pokemon without damage counters on it for :colorless:.

Modified - 3/10 (Well, sadly Lopunny is about worthless, so this cute Pokemon's usage is limited thanks to its evolution)
Limited - 7/10 (A solid sacrificial lamb to start with, as Bunny Hop becomes more and more useless as the game progresses and damage counters start piling on)
Unlimited - 1/10 (No use here)

50 HP is pretty standard, F weakness hurts. The attack is okay I guess, but it's not even the best Buneary in the format, so what's the point?

1/5.

No poll this time, though I seriously doubt this card will be seen in competitive play (lack of good Lopunny). 50 HP, +10 Fighting Weakness, 1 Retreat; all of them are standard stats for a Buneary. Bunny Hop is pretty nice for a start, 20 to any opposing undamaged Pokemon, could set up for a bigger snipe later on. Completely useless against a lone Spiritomb though.

I give it a 3/10. Are there beter Buneary out there? I going to see so I can make an Easter deck...

Wow, Buneary? Awesome, perfect for Easter. Buneary's are always 10/10. OK, now lets get to the real in depth look about it.

Well, pretty much you are using this Buneary only to evolve into Lopunny. You seriously wouldn't attack with this Buneary a lot. It has 50 HP, average for a basic, but the weakness really hurts now, yet the retreat cost it OK. It can do 20 to a Pokemon that has no damage counters for a single energy. It really could've applied to Pokemon that have damage counters to make things easier, but oh well, the attack just doesn't seem to be that good.

Overall 1/10 in modified

Yeah, Buneary is only to evolve into Lopunny. It may be an effective early game attacker, but really you shouldn't use it late game of course. It can also be easily taken down so be careful about that. Despite the fact this Buneary isn't the best, this card was still a great choice for Easter today!

No

no not good at all nothing worth it hello people bunnery? what why? your actuly guna play loppunny? but there are no good loppunny's this thing sucks FORGET IT PLEASE

0/10

It actually isn't a terrible suicide lead. If you have a metagame where Nidoqueen RR isn't common, you can use this to set up other pokemon who need damage counters on their opponents. Galade 4 from RR is a perfect example of this, but Bronzong MD and Honchrow G also qualify. If the opponent takes down Bunery, be prepared to punish them by taking the attacker they sent up.

Buneary's attack being usable also means it is able to retreat, so assuming they don't take the KO, you could push Bunery back to the bench and evolve to a support Lopunny, or keep it active for an agro Lopunny.

Despite having a 1 energy attack, Lopunny DP is a no-go, unless you don't mind attaching the DCE, where it has a fairly useful attack to combine with Buneary AA's attack, 30 to an active, 20 to a bench, Lopunny may then switch.

Lopunny LA has a useful Poke-body (Nidoqueen RR while its active to everything but itself), with 2 respectable attacks. Collect is a 0 energy draw 3, which allows Lopunny to be useful even if she had to retreat to the bench at some point, while its 2 energy attack allows it to get a near-2 hit ko on any non-sp pokemon you are likely to meet. Both Flygon and its X have major reservations about taking on Lopunny LA, as it'll place 90 on regular, 120 on the active, for 2 energy. If Flygon thinks of taking the prize, it very badly risks a KO. Unfortunately, Flygon is usually acompanied by Nidoqueen, limiting the usefulness of this tactic.

Loppunny SV is a simple pokemon, and an easy uncommon to aquire (especially as proxxies for other Lopunny, which tend to be rares). 2 2C attacks, one doing 20 with flip paralize, the other being a flat 40.

Lopunny AR is the only Lopunny useful from the bench. You discard an energy, to heal all your pokemon 1. Its actually not a thing to play in Donphan, who both appreciates the assist in KO's Bunery AR can help with early, as well as Lopunny perfectly healing off the damage earthquake does. Nidoqueen lends more power to the same cause, and definately deserves her praise, but Lopunny has the arguabally better basic, wonderful synergy with call energy, can work with Fighting energy, directly helping Donphans cause, and free's up the deckspace nidoqueen would normally need to commit to its stage 1, rare candy, or azelf to make sure none of the latter were prized.

Lopunny isn't the worst pokemon, and Bunery isn't a terrible starter. Its use mostly serves as a suicide lead, but play around with it, it may be the easter present you've always wanted.

The Best Buneary is from Majectic Dawn... no energy search your deck for an energy (any energy... not just basic energy).

It has 2nd attack for 1 eneryg. The rest of the stats are the same, I believe.

I give the AR Buneary: 2/10.
I give the MD Buneary: 6/10.

A good Easter mascot, but horribly unplayable. Yes, it can OHKO Garchomp Cs with Pluspowers/etc., but Lopunny is a bad attacker, so why would anyone use it? 20 damage at the most is also bad. 50 HP ensures that this bunny will die fast to pretty much anything in the format. 1/10

10/10 in terms of Easter mascotness

no not good at all nothing worth it hello people bunnery? what why? your actuly guna play loppunny? but there are no good loppunny's this thing sucks FORGET IT PLEASE

0/10

Lopunny from Legends Awakened is a solid Utility Pokemon. The Pokebody heals each round. The first attack is free and draws 3 cards. The 2nd attack is bit expensive at 2 energy, does 30 damage to a basic and 60 to an evolved Pokemon. The LA Lopunny + the MD Buneary are pretty good. 6.5/10 together.

Bunny Hop=Auto-win on easter (899/10)
Any other day of the year=...why would you play this unless you are playing lopunny....why are you playing lopunny (2/10)

in pokemon, the day after easter, they should make a promo buneary that does 1000000000000000000000 damage for no energy. -10/10 for playableness.

What most people forget here upon seeing this card is that we are not expected to create a deck centred around Buneary (can you imagine a deck like that?). No, Buneary is appropriate for the Easter seaon, and also a good choice if you want a Lopunny healing tech, assuming you want to go for the Arceus set one. Buneary alone is an OK-ish starting pokemon, but Lopunny Arceus set can be a useful healing tech, especially with Hippowdon from Rising Rivals (damage pokemon due to level up with Buneary, eveolve to Lopunny next turn, use pokepower to dump energy and heal, and 'save sand' with hippowdon makes a good attacker.).

On its own, Buneary sucks 5/10, but with the right deck it can be brilliant!
