2010-7-8 Dunsparce UL 029
[/gal]

This card is a ridiculously consistent draw engine with a low retreat cost. It also murders Garchomp C when it has an Expert Belt attached. 60 damage for 1 energy plus 20 more per PlusPower makes me wonder why anyone plays Ambipom G. 9.5/10

Um because ambipom g doesn't need a belt and pluspower to ohko garchomp c???

Good draw, 1 retreat is mehh, 6/10

Alright who put Great Card. What a Smart Player
sorry back on topic:
Decent card for a player just starting out. Good in Limited with the draw an Damage!
But other than that not the best card to pull.
Ill give it 3/10.
Limitied 6/10

well this card can draw you cards i thought about putting this card in but there is supperter cards can make you draw cards also so yes

Today's CotD is Dunsparce from UL, a decent little Basic Pokemon. Statwise, 60 HP is average for a Basic, x2 Weakness to :fighting: is meh, no Resistance is common, and :colorless: to Retreat is cheap. Return deals a basic 10 for :colorless:, but also has the great effect of letting you draw cards until you have 6 in your hand. Unfortunately, outside the begining turns of the game, Dunsparce becomes an easy target for your opponent and in essence becomes a free prize for your opponent.

Modified - 5/10 (Useful as a starter, but I'd otherwise stick with Chatot MD)
Limited -9/10 (Great for the most part, though the downside is that hand sizes tend to be large here. Still, he's easily splashable in any deck)
Unlimited - 1/10 (Not much use here as it's easily KOable)

If someone steals your Chatot MD, this is something you could turn to as a substitute. Is it a good substitute? Not really. But it works.

4/10 modified. It has a job and isn't bad at it but really isn't great, either.

If you attach a Expert Belt you hit Garchomp C for 60 because of weakness. Not worth the Expert Belt and loss of 2 prizes though.

On topic
works for prerelease really well, not to much on the competive field.
3/10

Hmm, interesting. Now I see that this card can potentially KO a Garchomp C if it has the right cards.

60 HP is average for a basic. Fighting weakness somewhat hurts, and the retreat cost is average.

There isn't much notable about Dunsparce. It only has one attack, which does 10 for one, and then you draw until you have six cards in your hand. 10 may not seem much, but as mentioned, if you put an Expert Belt and two Pluspowers on it, you can potentially OHKO a Garchomp C easily, so at least there is a way to make up the only 10 damage ordeal.

Overall 3/10 in modified, 9/10 in limited, and 1/10 in unlimited

In modified, this card can't really do much. It has a nice way of drawing that's for sure, and it can potentially OHKO Garchomp C if it has some needed cards, but there is problem. In terms of Pokemon that draw using their attacks, Chatot MD happens to be a lot better, and Claydol and Uxie also outclass Dunsparce in terms of drawing. Thus, this card isn't that effective here.:nonono:

In limited, Dunsparce UL sees some way better uses. Return can be a very effective way of drawing, especially when you have a low hand. Being colorless, it also works in any deck here. If you pull this card out in a tournament like prerelease, I'd pretty much recommend running it in a limited deck. It may not be an attacker, but for drawing, it is pretty good.

In unlimited, this card is sadly rather inferior to many drawing cards here. It also has low HP, so this makes it a very easy target for taking an easy prize too. Thus, Dunsparce isn't that good here just like what it is in modified.:nonono:

The draw power is pretty good for prereleases, but in the real game the 60 HP means Dunsparce will be knocked out before it can do any real damage. In addition, Chatot MD has the same amount of HP, but with a nice Resistance, can get you more cards, the attack is free, and it comes with free retreat. Overall, there are better methods to drawing than this card can provide, so there isn't really much use for this card in the format. 2/10

Slip Dunsparce into your deck.

Draw Dunsparce.

Play Dunsparce.

Attach an energy to Dunsparce.

Have Dunsparce attack , do 10 damage and you may get to draw some cards.

Watch Dunsparce get knocked out.

Return Dunsparce to your trade card box.

Not the worst card... but certainly not GREAT! 4/10

60 HP is average, but not too good on a non-evolving pokemon. Having 4 of these when you don't have better cards is great, almost like a claydoll in limited format.
Its good that its a common so newer players can get them easily. Doing damage and drawing up to 6 is very good, unfortunately as an attack in serious play is not very good, Pokemon powers and supporters draw cards, not attacks.
4/10 in modified
10/10 in limited and for players who can't afford Claydol, Uxie or useful supporters

It's a simple card, but is not bad if you are desperate for cards. Granted, there are Trainers/Supporters and Poke-Powers that do a much better job of this, but in a pinch or for a beginner, it's a good card to use.
