It would be amazing if fire wasn't going to be so gosh darn popular...

9/10 in my book but the meta is completely not for it right now...

High retreat cost, bad attack. Mediocre HP.

The ability may be situationally useful, but it only affects metal energies and is on a stage 2...So....

2/10.

Can't see myself or anyone else using this except if combo'd with something very specific. (And I have no idea what if anything that could be)

This pokemon has future viability written all over it.

I'm looking for how it will help synergize steel decks in the future.

Now: 3/10
Later with more sets: ?/10

like cetra said if fire wasn't looking so popular this would be awesome in a steelix prime deck, combine it with blissy prime (and max restore when it comes out) to heal without loss of some of the energy. hopefully the remaining steel b/w poke have something worth combining with this.

also be aware we currently have magnezone lvlX that does this for steel and lightning

8/10

Treyh37 is right, that would be a very strong combination if Fire wasn't so popular with Emboar. I still like the card though, artwork is nice, but it's not going to be good for this format.

6/10.

Today's COTD is Klingklang from the Black & White expansion. It starts off on a good note with 140HP and :metal: Typing. Smells like wall to me. Well, until you see the :fire: Weakness and :colorless::colorless::colorless: Retreat Cost. Luckily, it also has a :psychic: Resistance. It has one attack, Gear Grind, at the cost of :metal::colorless::colorless:, you get to flip 2 coins, doing 80 damage for each heads. Sure it can do 160 damage, but it can also fail miserably. Lower the cost by :colorless: and I'll like it. It also has an ability, Shift Gear (why not Shift Klink? Meh....that's a stupid joke). It is basically an Energy Trans (seen on Meganium Prime, Sceptile SF, and Base Set Venusaur) for :metal: energy. Looks great at first sight, but how many Pokémon can make use of this? Steelix, maybe, but it will be dead next season. Other than that, well, I don't know.

Modified: 7/10- Stage 2 is bad, but it can make good use of itself in Blissey/Steelix.
Limited: 3/10- Besides Klink and Klang, this is the only :metal: Pokémon, and even in :colorless: decks, this is a hard-to-get-out Stage 2 Pokémon.
Next Format: 3/10- Weakness to :fire:, :colorless::colorless::colorless: Retreat Cost, bad attack, useless tech...... horrendous card.

Someone said something in another thread, and I think they nailed it; when we get max restore, this guy will become really useful.

Right now, not so much.

Good hp bad retreat and weakness and any resistance is good. Not really a fan of the attack, anything with flips is not my style. As for the power, could pair well with scizor and skarmory, but only time will tell!

HGSS on 7/10

Good ability, nice HP, but bad retreat and an even worse Weakness. In a format with Emboar and Reshiram, there´s no (or a very low) chance for this card to become Meta.

5/10 but could increase, if the next sets provide some metal fighters.

I love this card, but what can it be used for in 1 or two years from now? I really wanna use it for its ability, i can smell it will be great, but yes weakness is a def. bad bad :( and i wish that more steel types will be coming soon in new sets.

5/10

Meganium Prime for Metal decks.

With a worse attack.

Don't know what the fuss is about.

I could see a use... Using a Forretress and a (If the white collection card is printed in a future set.) Ferrothorn with it would have decent synergy. The Forretress and Ferrothorn could use gyro ball to keep switching their guys and causing decent damage. Use Klinklang to juggle the metal energy between the two. Use this combo to stall and give you time to pump out your big boys onto your bench. This gives you the ability to not use all your energies on those two pokemon. Just put out enough for one of them and juggle, using energy the smart way.

Stall and do decent damage, I say yes.

(Source on the Ferrothorn card: http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Ferrothorn_(White_Collection_39) )

This is the best thing I could think of. Just felt like defending the card.

okay ability, very similar to magnezone lv x. attack is horrible, hp is nice, good resistence, bad weakness, and bad reatreat. all together not very good.
4/10

Interesting abilty, OK attack for a bench sitter. Terrible weakness and retreat 4.2/10

Someone said something in another thread, and I think they nailed it; when we get max restore, this guy will become really useful.

That may be true, but catcher will be the nail in the coffin for Klinklang.

Yes yes running late, didn't have internet access...

Anyways, yesterday's CotD was Klingklang from BW, which I do like...it's trying to find out what to use with him that's a pain (though I do see this guy turning into the next "Magnezone", aka tons of reprints with different effects). Statwise 140 HP is great for a Stage 2 (almost seems to be the new norm ), x2 Weakness to :fire: is bad if Emboar takes off, -20 Resistance to :psychic: is better than nothing, and :colorless::colorless::colorless: to Retreat is pricey. Shift Gear is a nifty Ability, acting basically as an Energy Trans using :metal: Energy. But here's the problem...what do you use with this guy? Because his sole attack, Gear Grind, isn't that impressive at :metal::colorless::colorless: for 80x the number of Heads you get with 2 coins.

Modified - 6/10 (I think it'll be better once better supporting Pokemon come out, but for now I see him more as a future project, though hopefully not as long as one as Feraligatr Prime still is with regards to a good partner...)
Limited - 5/10 (Eh, if you can get him out he's decent and likely to win you games, but there's the problem, getting him out)
Unlimited - 1/10 (Can't think of anything good to use him in off the top of my head)
