Love this card won a pre-release with it. Its HP is kind of low for a Stage 1. It does have a low energy attack that can hit hard. Might work well in a spread deck but for the most part its only average.

6/10 Modified

While Finishing Blow is a lovely attack, hitting for as much as 80 damage off of a Special Darkness Energy, consider Mandibuzz from Black and White. For the same number of Energy, it targets any Pokemon with some number of damage counters on it and does 50 damage to it. Now, while it requires there be damage counters, instead of Bisharp's bonus benefit, Mandibuzz can hit the Bench. Still, Mandibuzz sees very limited play.

With the upcoming reprint of Pokemon Center as an "Ability Serperior" for both players, it will be less likely for Pokemon to have damage counters on them unless they are the active and took a big hit already. For the time being, Bisharp can perform a bit more effectively than it would with healed targets. It does what it does for an Uncommon Pokemon very nicely, and has good synergy with a damage-spreader in a budget deck. For example, if it could last long enough, Forretress #13 from Undaunted could spread damage, take another Energy, and Gyro Ball to Bisharp, presuming Bisharp could take the next attack coming at it.

With Simisear (BW) maybe? You'd still need a solid back-up attacker like Donphan Prime and drawpower like Ninetails (HGSS). Reuniculus could be a problem.

Bisharp is a stage one :dark: type. It has 90 HP which is pretty average for a standard Stage one, which unfortunately puts it into a dead zone of easy KOs. It's first attack Finishing Blow is a cheap strong attack that deals 20 plus another 50 if the Defending Pokemon has any damage counters. It's second attack Night Slash deals 30 damage and allows him to be put on the bench. It has a common weakness of :fighting: which puts it in OHKO range of the only major Pokemon it was out of it for in the Meta, Donphan. It has resistance to :psychic: which is alright for match-ups against stuff like Gothitelle, but they have ways to up their attack power anyway. Ultimately Bisharp is an underwhelming card that has a single noteworthy trait in Finishing Blow, which is a nice inverse to Mandibuzz BW's Blindside, but lacks it's resistance.

It would probably work well with Kyurem, Hydriegon, or Tyranitar Prime, with them spreading damage, and then having Bisharp clean up in the endgame, which Mandibuzz does better.

As a final sidenote however, Bisharp has a really cool picture to showcase the Power Ranger

Forgot about this somehow...anyways, yesterday's CotD was Bisharp from NV, the :dark: version. Statwise 90 HP is average for a Stage 1, x2 Weakness to :fighting: is meh, -20 Resistance to :psychic: can help, and :colorless: to Retreat is cheap. Finishing Blow is a decent attack for :dark:, dealing a base 20, but growing to 70 total if the Defending has any damage counters on it already. Night Slash in comparison isn't that hot, :dark::colorless: for 30 is a bit pricey, and unless you want the forced Retreat effect...

Modified - 6/10 (Finishing Blow is what makes it so good, but the problem is that there aren't many other good :dark: Pokemon to compliment it with, and others like Zoroark are more splashable into other decks and deal potentially more damage(
Limited - 9/10 (Great card here, Finishing Blow should win you games if you can get him out reasonably fast)
Unlimited - 1/10 (Not much use here really)
