This card is really good. It has several decks based around it and it could be part of our future bdif with hydreigon. I like the other art work better though.

8.5/10 because terrakion and groudon ex OHKO it in 1 turn and the other artwork is better.

Oh look, Darkrai again.

With BW-on in mind, we see it as the main attacker AND a support unit of what is probably the BDIF in Japan, Hydreigon w/ Darkrai.

Free retreat is so great for the cost of a single Dark Energy attachment. It's so easy to fulfill, especially when Hydreigon can move Dark Energy already on the field to the Active and make retreating that much easier!

90 damage with 30 snipe for (DDC) is nothing to scoff at either, especially when Dark Patch can theoretically have you powered up Turn 1.

Counters:

Terrakion revenge kills Darkrai with a measly 2 Energy and outright OHKOes for 3 energy (bar Eviolite).

Pokemon Catcher is not a good counter unless you plan on killing a Pokemon outright; it's too easy to retreat out of. However, if your deck can also make good use of Crushing Hammer (and possibly Enhanced Hammer) combined with Sableye, your engine of Hammers may make it impossible for Dark Energies to be played and effectively lock the opponent from attacking and retreating. (Thanks to Otaku for reminding me of why I hate Hammertime)

Looking at some future cards, Garbodor can really turn the tides against this Pokemon. For those that don't know, Garbodor's "Dust Toxin" ability shuts off all Abilities (except Dust Toxin) in play as long as Garbodor has a Pokemon Tool attached to it. What this obviously means is that Darkrai decks no longer have free retreat from the attachment of Dark Energy. Since that is one of the main points of Darkrai decks (using high Retreat Cost Pokemon as attackers), that's pretty bad. Even worse is that Darkrai decks rarely, if ever, carry Switches.

The new Jellicent also helps to prevent free Retreat to a lesser extent; supposedly, it doesn't actually increase Retreat Costs but rather forces you to discard an Energy before your actual Retreat. This may not seem like much of a help, but Darkrai decks really hate Energy deprivation.

If you have any more counters, feel free to let me know via PM or email! If I agree that your counter is viable, it will be added with credit given to the submitter!

I'd say it deserves at least a 9/10.

i know 90 attack is not that much but darkness is able to attach special dark and darkness claw... so with just a single darkness energy and darkness claw it is able to do a solid 120 plus 30 to bench... Also now with the darkness patch you can bypass the single energy a turn rule so you can set up darkrai in 1 turn if you play your deck right...

One problem with this is the fact that darkrai need more than a single energy and Dark Claw to even attack in the first place let alone do 120 dmg
Surprised I caught this before KP -_-
