Amazing card. Beautiful artwork

9/10

Definitely one of the strongest cards in the format with an amazing ability. Attack is splashable and amazing.

there are 3 pokemon that every competitive player knows very well. this is one of them. from the moment it was released it warped the meta, and can now be found as a tech in a large number of decks, as well as having its own T1 deck- keldo/blastoise. the 170 hp is consistent with ex hp, but 180 would be preferable. the ability is amazing, and can be paired with many things to be helpful, which is why it is a successful tech. the move is great and simply made to work with blastoise. it would be better if base damage was 60 as 180 hp ex pokemon would be OHKOed for 1 less energy. 2 retreat is in my oppinion the worst retreat possible as it cannot be heavy ball searched, or free sky arrow retreated. this dose make sence though, as keldo isnt heavy enough to warrent a 3 retreat, and the card would be flat out broken to an extent that i cannot express with words- if the retreat was 1 (zero with Sky arrow) or zero flat out...

i give it a 9/10, and it will join ho-oh ex, rayquaza ex, and mew ex at a 10/10 for the full-art artwork

As a stand alone card, Keledo EX seems decent for water decks and below average everywhere else. However, with the existance Blastoise from boundaries crossed, this guy is ridiculous. This combined with Blastoise gives this card the ability to knock almost any single Pokemon in the entire game out in 1 hit. Blastoise lets you attach as many water energies as you like, meaning that when this card has at least 6-7 energies, nothing is going to stop it. Ironically both cards came out in the same set and its hard to imagine how Keledo EX would have been if it came out at an earlier time.

Normally without Blastoise, this card averages 110 damage for 3 water energies along with the potential to do more, which is above the current norm for 3+ energy attackers. You can always play it with Blend energies and get a similar effect. 110 is pretty solid and it's 1st ability is very good as well. It also allows you to do as much as you can, but at the same time you have to watch out for Mewtwo EX at the same time. However, if your not using water energies, its pretty below average even with its ability. To be honest, if your not playing Water energies or something similar, the card isnt really that great at all since 50 damage for 3 energies isnt very good and probably wouldnt be worth running then.

I would say as a stand alone card, 8/10 since it has a good ability and in water decks/blend energy based decks without Blastoise it is still a very solid attacker that can kill HoOh and Landorus EX. In Blastoise its almost broken, but Id fault Blastoise for that. The HP is good, the weakness is good, the retreat cost is bad but it offsets all the advantages of this card. In most other decks this card is not really feared, its a solid attacker at best but in Blastoise this guy will be killing you most of the time.

great ability, great attack, great weakness, average HP, awesome art.
10/10
this Pokemon is the most powerful, consistent attacker and ability that is even used outside of it's deck with a attack that can be used in any deck and is great with or without Blastoise but of course it's at it's best with Keldeo.

Keldeo really is a great card, and that used to annoy me terribly because I didn't like to think about how much my Darkrai variant was going to lose to a ginger unicorn with rainbow highlights. Since then, it's dominated the meta, and my opinion of it is actually softer.

Though most known with it's partner in crime, Blastoise, which gives this card an insane damage capacity in exchange for consistency (I've seen enough :water: dropped on a Keldeo T2 to OHKO my Darkrai, and this happened two rounds in a row), Keldeo has many merits as a standalone card. I would say it's the only thing standing in front of a Landorus dominated format, as even without running :water: it can strike 100 against dat Weakness, and it's Ability is essentially a free, consistent Switch. You can kiss status conditions goodbye, move your attacker to the bench and charge him up with Dark Patches or Dynamotor w/out burning your 1 retreat, and eliminate Catcher stalls. Not too shabby, really.

But, is it really the best card in the format? I think not. I've consistently beaten Keldeo/Blastoise at every competitive event I've played at, which makes me think it's really just a balanced, good card. Great Ability, made imperfect by the :colorless::colorless: Retreat cost, Great Attack, but the 50 Base Damage is appreciated, and Great HP, although 170 is IMO a great number that allows for an array of creative, easy knockouts in my D-Krai/Hydreigon deck.

8.5/10 as a great tech card made awesome by the Weakness of better cards, lol.
