Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

2015 Season TCG Regionals Day 2 will use Extended Format (BW-on)

Besides that, the two days are completely different metas. A rogue deck designed to counter the meta day 1 may not be able to have the same success in day 2's meta.

And vice-versa. Someone may play a very bland, consistent list to make Day 2 and have a brilliant rogue for the second day. It increases players' opportunities to make good deck decisions (or bad ones).

Cool idea. Another I've heard suggested is that you play Day 2 in extended and Top 8 as a draft. Want to be the champion? Show you can win in three different formats.

Very disappointed by this announcement. I was really excited to play BW-ON as it's own format, from swiss to Top Cut. This just seems really odd.

I will say one thing along this line. Many of us held onto all B&W on cards because we thought we'd be playing with them in 2015. Making it Top 32 in Regionals and up means most of us will never see this format. That is disappointing, as I really wanted to play in it. Would Pokemon give some sort of dispensation to TOs to run some League Challenges in this format?

I would give this new idea of playing Pokemon my full approval/disapproval after TPCI makes an official announcement. Nothing is confirmed as of this point, so it is possible that this type of format/tournament structure isn't entirely accurate.

However, just based on this idea, I welcome it because I do like the idea of switching-up strategies/decks to change the pace of the tournament--it does require a lot of well thought-out ideas to really become the champion. But, at the same time, I, too, wanted this BW-ON format to be a separate tournament entirely. Honestly, that method seems to mimic what Magic The Gathering has and attracts certain players to specific tournament structures. Also, if TPCI would host separate BW-ON tournaments during the season aside from the modified format that provide championships points to Worlds, that would have been perfect! In short, when I first heard of this BW-ON format, I thought of seperate tournaments of different days from modified tournaments, to provide championships points.

Well, given that it was posted by PTO's who run regional-level events, and coincidentally the information was posted on a day when PTO's would've learned it...it's about as set in stone as it could be. Highly doubt the OP team would give PTOs the green light to say this publicly if it wasn't 100%.

It could be 100% true without being 100% of the story as regards Extended in Organized Play this season.

Oh, definitely, I very strongly feel this isn't the end of the news. He said "(it is) possible this isn't entirely accurate." Accuracy has nothing to do with the scale of extended, the vocabulary he used has more to do with the use of this case of the use of Extended.

I personally don't like this especially for Juniors. Too much...too many different decks to try to learn/test against. Kids don't have enough time as it is between other sports, school, etc. Some of these kids weren't even playing with those cards....now they have to go out and get even more cards to try to build decks with. Too costly for kids (especially Juniors). Why do this? I wonder what the reason for it was?

Ugh...big ugh

Oh no Eels are back. I think this is going to be a format with a lot of donks. Also a lot of variety so I guess it has its draw backs.

BW -on IS its own format. If you were expecting 2 entirely unique paths to worlds though, you need to check in at the "logistics Inn". League Challenges can be run either Standard or Extended going forward.
