Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

6 Corners: An In Depth Look

Yeah, I would agree that Spinarak gives you auto win if Chandy uses a baby Pokemon. Other than that, it doesn't help at all. Ross can use rainbow and no one uses goth anymore. Surprisingly from my testing though, absol just does not work at all. I mean, maybe I was using it wrong, but it always seemed like if I put it down before it was ready to attack, it would get easily killed, and if I were saving it with shaymin, it would get N'ed.

That's because you have to really time everything right. Also, it's not hard to get a Pokemon Collector in hand, is it? All you have to do is play the Collector (Shaymin, Absol), bench the absol, bench Shaymin and use its power "Celebration Wind", and from there, it's really smooth sailing.

Uhhhm. I can't say i see that one. ChandyPlume I suppose, i dont play it so i don't know what other options it would have, Gothitelle....are there still Gothitelle? As far as Ross, no. They can still set up a Reuiniclus and damage swap Rainbow energy damage to KO any trapped baby and then the game continues, except that they get to use a Twins that turn. Not to say its bad, but if you are playing it to beat Chandelure, i feel Absol would fit the spot better.

I've tried Absol and it just doesn't work. Spinarak gives you so much time after Pichu's playground (which helps you grab it out for free as well). Denying Ross the ability to use Cleffa early on usually gives you a bit more time to set up your own board (filled with 6 corner counters) before Vileplume hits the field. As for Reuniclus...it's actually great on the field because, unless they run seeker, they only have one bench spot for a tank/attacker (2 Solosis, 2 Oddish, 1 Pichu after first turn playground). The Ross player will have to battle both time and your (hopefully) better set up as you should be able to match prize for prize with your counters.

But yea, Spinarak won't win you the game, but it doesn't hurt to test it out since you're running the grass energies anyways. More options against Ross is never a bad thing.

I tried this list out today at cities, taking a Pokegear out for a Absol Prime and it ran incredibly well. This article really helped me understand the deck, and I managed to 5-0 swiss (in Seniors) even though my first game with it was today. I played ZPST, ChandyPlume, and 3 Tyram (1 normal, 1 with Kingdra, 1 with Magnezone). I got my butt handed to me in top cut against Durant however: I could just not find a way to beat it. He managed to get 4 Durant T1 both games, and although I started well in both games (Virizon), I could not manage to get an attack off until like turn 8 because he hit a Crushing Hammer every turn along with Lost Removers. For those who are experienced with this matchup, what do you even do to win?

That being said, this article was incredible and I'm really glad to have tried this deck out; it's a lot of fun and I really enjoy it.

Thanks! 5-0ing swiss is awesome :)

Durant is reallt 50/50, if they hit their crushing hammers then you're in trouble, but if not then you win. Really, the variable is the Crushing Hammer flips, as well as if they Prize Durants and or get a slow start. It's really luck based on their part.

i didnt play vs a chandelure yet, but what do you think about DPL? i mean it can remove a chandelure with 3 energies, vileplume dodrio etc.

It's very luck based. If Durant can't get the Crushing Hammers, it's done. But if they hit, you're stuck having to stack attachments (putting you at risk of Rotom). There's really no set strategy for it.

Im just gonna come out with it striaght, Good read. Why was it a good read? Because i could LoL at how bad all your matchups were durants end it trainer lock ends it almost every smart player can beat this deck if they are not stupid every matchup is 50/50 or less imo

I, a good percentage of the community, and the "what won cities" thread tend to disagree with you a bit there, buddy. If it's so easy to beat; why don't you record some matched against it? Then you can show us instead of just claiming it.

Back on the 14th I went to a Cities near my town with 6C deck I built only a few days earlier. I actually won the whole thing and went 4-1 in the swiss. The decks I faced were, in order: CaKE, Durant (I wasn't able to face him as he had been gone a good twenty minutes after the match had started for lunch), Kyulock, Eelzone, and a weird deck the guy called ZACTS. I lost the 5th round due to deck out, but beat him again in top 2 after beating a chandelure deck in top 4.

Amazing article bro. This shines light on most of my,issues with the deck and everything reads very well to me. I approve of the Nadus so much. The only thing that this article could've used is mirror advice. Especially for the nooblet Seniors like me who hardly play against mirror. I assume Glaciate and Leaf Wallops are key, waste their Catcher, no?

What about Mewtwo EX for States? This would be a great tech against Truthish decks as well as the obvious Mewtwo mirror. It can also do well against a Dragon EX which is extremely important as they one shot everything with Eviolite.

Something else, completely strange, is Gigas EX. It has an Outrage plus 30 for CC extra, but also has more HP foe the Dragon EXs. I thought of it as energy wasting junk, but it could be OK.
