The Ash Ketchum Institute

Chapter 1.

After Ash Ketchum, the boy wander from Pallet Town, returned to Kanto to win the Pokemon League, it put Pallet Town on the map, after he later went on to winning the Johto and Hoenn League, people from all over were coming to visit what used to be a small town located south of Viridian City. However with all of its fame, Pallet Town has now grew to half the size of Saffron City, tourists can be found on almost every street, Professor Oak has been forced to recruit a few more assistants due to the over whelming amount of young trainers wanting the same choice as Ash had.

However the main point of interest in the new expanded Pallet Town is the A.K.I, The Ash Ketchum Institute. A place where children aged seven to sixteen can stay and learn the many different things to learn about Pokemon. A place where children can stay until they believe they are old enough and prepared enough to go on their very own journey, a place with it's very own Pokemon Centre and finally, a place where champions are made.

September is approaching, many children are making there way to Pallet town for the beginning term of A.K.I. The school's dormitories are open to students a week before the lessons begin, to allow the students time to settle, make friends and adjust to been away from home.

'So this must be my dorm.' A boy thought to himself as he looked at the number on the door, and then confirmed it with the number on his piece of paper. '.C4.' 'Wander who I'm bunking with' he continued to think as he opened the door and slung his backpack onto the top bunk, 'either way, I was here first' he smirked.

“You know, a real gentleman would offer the top bunk to his room-mate.” A female voice could be heard from the door way.

The boy span around and had to stop his jaw from hitting the floor when he saw a well developed young lady, with black hair down to the middle of her back, with two hot pink highlights running through her hair. Her eyes were as blue as the ocean waves and her smile was enough to melt hearts. Butter would not melt in this girls mouth.

“S..Sorry” he stuttered, reaching for his backpack.

“Nah, it's okay. I prefer the bottom bunk anyway, can't be climbing up and down ladders in the morning and of a night.” She smiled and she lay down on the bottom bunk. “Kofi, Cherry-grove City, you?” She asked running her fingers through her hair.

“J...Jordan, Pallet Town” He replied placing two Poke balls on his mattress.

“Ahh, born and bred here I see, you got any talent kid?”

“Kid? I'm no kid, little lady” he snapped back holding tight on one of his Poke balls.

“And I'm not little” she stood up and realised she only just peaked at his shoulders “Okay, so I'm smaller than you, but I'm tougher than I look” she smiled as she lay back on her bed.

“Yeah when your not been lazy all day” Jordan mumbled as he began to fling clothes out of his bag and stuff them into the chest of draws on the left hand side of the room.
“Place might look better if you kept it tidy Jordan” Kofi smiled as she too began to unpack her bags.

“What's that meant to mean?” Jordan asked with a miserable look on his face

“It means, fold up your clothes, make your bed of a morning, keep the floor clean and tidy”

“There hasn't even been a morning yet what makes you say I wont make my bed” Jordan said trying his hardest not to smile at the girls innocent face.

“Cause you wasn't going to was you?” Kofi looked over her shoulder at Jordan and smiled, her face began to burn as she turned back and continued unpacking her clothes.

“How come were paired up boy, girl?” Jordan asked Kofi expecting an answer

“I like the way you ask me, don't forget, you was in the dorm before I was” She giggled as she stood up. “Right I'm done with the unpacking” she turned around to look at how Jordan was getting on. “I'll tell you what, you go get us both something to eat from the canteen, and Ill finish up in here” she smiled as she walked over to Jordan trying to stuff about a weeks worth of clothes into an already full drawer.

“Okay” Jordan nodded as he attached two Poke balls to his belt at left the room.

Kofi sighed, 'Look at all this' she thought to herself as she began to empty drawers to repack them neat and tidily. 'What's this?' She picked up a brown leather book, the front and back cover were worn away at the edges, the leather was fading and you could tell the book had been around for some years. She blew on the front cover to remove all the dust, then swept off the remaining dirt with her hand to read in gold lettering. Haze and Ketchum. Without thinking she opened the front cover instantly after seeing the name Ketchum, there were pictures of Ash Ketchum while he was about twenty years of age, with a young boy with blue hair, same sky blue shade as Jordan's, and the same grass green eyes as his. Kofi noticed a scratch on the boys neck, and immediately shut the book and placed it back in the drawer.

After about twenty minutes of folding Jordan's clothes and arranging them neatly in the drawers, he returned rocking all over the place, balancing two containers, two drinks, a menu, a chocolate bar, two plates and an extra fluffy pillow. “Don't know what you eat so I went with the safe option and got you a cheese burger, everyone loves a cheese burger, class of orange juice for a drink, apparently Machamp squeezed 'em fresh today, and a chocolate bar, no nuts.” He smiled as he could finally unload all of the baggage from his arms to on top of the table.

“That sounds great, just, I'm a vegetarian” Kofi smiled

“You're kidding right?” Jordan asked slumping into his chair

“Nope, sorry, but thanks, I'll just go change it, it's okay, you never knew”

“Sit your butt back down, already thought of that so I picked up a vegetable stew as well, hello Mr cheese burger.” He smiled switching plates with Kofi. “And, as thanks for sorting my stuff out, I said there was a pillow missing so we got an extra, figured you could have it, cause the pillows we got at the moment look thin and wont do much, so here you go.” He said throwing it onto her bed.

After a discussion between Jordan and Kofi, about who they were and what they wanted, they headed out to the main field where they could watch battles between new students. A few of the students whom had been attending the school were battling with the other elder students, and the kitchen staff had now somehow become professional referee's they were taking the matches that seriously.

Jordan and Kofi sat next to a match between a Bulbasaur and a Treeko. The battle was immense, neither side were ready to give up, both going at it with all they've got. Both Pokemon looked evenly matched and it didn't look like the match was going to be over any time soon.

“My money's on Treeko” Jordan smirked

“Oh Yeah, what makes you so sure?” Kofi asked expecting a smart, well explained answer, considering he's generally a slob, doesn't seem to be good at much, maybe Pokemon was his thing.

“Because Treeko is so much cooler” Jordan smiled

Kofi hung her head with disappointment, she had built herself up for a well explained, thorough detailed answer and all she got was that “Okay, ten Poke dollar says Bulbasaur will win” She smirked hoping that with money on the line, he could somehow improve his logic and intelligence level.

“Make it twenty and you got a deal” Jordan looked Kofi in the eye “Unless you know Treeko will win as well”

“Fine twenty it is.” Kofi said getting engrossed in the battle.

After what must have been a good thirty minutes, the battle ended with Treeko emerging as the winner. Jordan jumped up and punched the air.

“Here's your twenty Poke dollar” Kofi sulked handing over a crisp note. “But apart from the, Treeko is cooler theory you had, how did you know it was going to win?”

Jordan walked over to the trainer with the Treeko and took the Pokeball off him, “because it's my Treeko” he laughed.

“Wait! What! You let other trainers use your Pokemon?” Kofi shouted jumping onto her feet

“Well yeah, you see, our friend Simon here, he has a Sandshrew, but due to an unfortunate incident on the way here, it is currently in the Pokemon centre getting checked over, so I said to him while we was at the canteen that he could use my Pokemon.”

“So you did it to hustle me?!” Kofi screamed now trying to intimidate Jordan.

“Not at all” Jordan said waving his hands “I did it to help Treeko learn his own style of battling by using some unique techniques that different trainers use, for example, when he was leaping from rock to rock using Bullet Seed, after we train together, for quite a while considering what I have in mind, we could develop that into bouncing from rock to rock using other moves like Leaf Blade, Leaf Storm, or just a pumped up version of Bullet Seed. You can have the twenty back if it means that much to you, but remember, in battles when you have to think out side the box, why keep it only to battles, if you can think outside the box while training. You're off to a good start” Jordan's smile disappeared from his face as he walked off back into the main building. Kofi's face was blank, she was left dumbstruck by what Jordan had said and never expected anything like it. She knew he had a point, a good point as well, if you have to think on your feet in a battle and improvise, why not do that in training, by using a different trainers tactic. She began to chase Jordan in hope of giving him an apology.

“So I really am sorry about the whole thing” Kofi apologised walking into the room she shared with Jordan.

“Don't mention it” Jordan replied leaping onto the top bunk.

“Yeah I'm sure, although I can see how it must have looked to you, and I apologise for that, but surely you can see where I was coming from.”

“Yeah I can, and I'm amazed by it, its a good idea” Kofi smiled

“Would you ever do it?” Jordan asked dangling his legs from the top bunk.

“Nahh, it's not for me, I prefer to bond with my Pokemon and build our strengths together”

“Me and Treeko bond and get tougher together, I just think it's important for him to learn other styles, for when we really need to pull something out the hat.”

“Well... It's been a long day, I'm going to catch some shut eye and I'll speak to you in the morning” Kofi said lying down on her bed pulling the covers up over her shoulder.

“Sleep well” Jordan said doing the same.

Chapter 2 will be on within a few days. Please give constructive Critism and rate out of 10, 10 been amazing, 1 been I fail, epically.

Seems very good lol. Much better written than a lot of the other fan fics I've been reading. 9/10 because there are some weird spellings and grammars

This one has a very good start. I wonder were it'll go. I like it how A.K.I. is the name. Wierd
they'd sometime honor Ash.

Good name, good start, good descriptions, but you need to slightly improve on the grammar/
spelling.

9.6/10.

Just 1 question:

Have you been wanting to write this for awhile? Or was it just recently thought up?

David out.

i'll give it an 8/10. one of the better written stories here, but i'm just no ash fan (Red FTW!!!)

Yeah had the idea to write it for a while, just couldnt think of how to start it, there is some twists in the story and I hope you will keep reading. The next update will be Tuesday I think :D

Learn the difference between 'wander' and 'wonder'. Try not to have a long block of dialogue with nothing else. Have someone trip, look around at something, interrupt, whatever works. Also, there might not be enough characterization in this chapter. I understand that you might be planning to get to that later, but it's an easy time to add it in.

JMHO. It's better than most, really.

Yeah, this is starting better than most, including mine, which wasn't good at the beginning. (Think, no plot, little grammar and extremely short.)
