Chapter 21, Round Two​

During the week we had to wait we trained even more for the next round. We battled with other trainers and we won every match. In almost no time at all, it was now time for the second round. We went into the Pokemon Center and found out who our next opponent would be. My match was tomorrow with a trainer named Stefoni and Monica's was in three days agenst a trainer called Ronnold. I was on the ice field this time and Monica was to battle on the ground field. I rested the whole day so my pokemon would have the energy to battle the next day. When the time came for my battle, I had my two Pokemon chose for the match. Sense I was on the ice field I chose Zangoose and Ditto. I walked to my field and found Monica and my parents sitting in the stands. "This second round match is Chris from Pallet Town agenst Stefoni from Lavender Town. Chris is on the red side and will choose first." I sent out Zangoose and Stefoni sent out Glalie. I had Zangoose attack with Slash and Glalie used Reflect. The Reflect was too weak to stop my attack and Zangoose's Slash hit Glalie across the field. Glalie used Ice Beam but Zangoose dug it's claws into the ice and jumped out of the way. Zangoose than run to Glalie and used Crush Claw. Glalie took a direct hit and than used Blizzard on Zangoose. Zangoose was frozen solid and could no longer battle. I returned Zangoose and sent out Ditto Ditto transformed into a Glalie and used Crunch. Glalie was knocked out from being weakined from the Crush Claw attack. Stefoni than sent out a Sunflora. I had Ditto stay in the form of a Glalie to have the advantage. Sunflora used Razor Leaf and I had Ditto use Ice Beam to freeze the attack. I than had Ditto use Powder Snow on Sunflora. Sunflora was hit and weakined greatly due to the cold sense Sunflora needed sunlight to stay strong. Sunflora used Sunny Day to make the clouds hanging overhead to go away and strong sunlight came onto the field. Sunflora started powering up for a Solar Beam attack. I had Ditto quickly use a Blizzard attack and it knocked Sunflora out. I won my second round battle. I met up with everyone and disscused my match. I trained with Monica to get her ready for her match with Ronnold in two days. When it was time for Monica's match I found a good place in the stands for me and my parents. Monica spotted me in the stands and we waved to each other. "It is now time for the second round match between Monica close to Pallet Town, agenst Ronnold from Celidon City. This match is on a ground field so keep your eye out for Pokemon that know Dig. Let the match begin. Ronnold is on the red side so he'll choose first." Ronnold sent out a Dugtrio and Monica sent out Beautifly. Sense Beautifly is part flying type, it will be uneffected by ground attacks like Earthquake and Dig. Dugtrio can mainly only use ground attacks so it had a huge disadvantage. Beautifly attacked with Gust and did some damage. Dugtrio used Tri Attack but Beautifly didged the attack. "There is no way my Dugtrio can beat your Beautifly. I guess I'll only be able to use one Pokemon now. Return Dugtrio. Dustox, I choose you." Ronnold sent out a Dustox and atacked with Psybeam and hit Beautifly. Beautifly quickly recovered and attacked with Gust. Dustox was knocked into a stone and a rock on top shook loose and fell on top of Dustox's head. It was almost Ok, but it was no longer able to battle. Monica had won her second round match using just one Pokemon. I met up with her and congradulated her on winning to easly. The third round was to start in two days. We just rested during those two days so we'd have energy for the 3rd round. "Chris, sorry I'm late the the Indego League, I had trouble at the gym."
"Max, you made it. Both Monica and I have made it to the third round. How many rounds are there?"
"There are four rounds to begin with. After that there are six rounds and the winner out of all those will be able to batle agenst the Elite Four and the Champion, wich is Ash. If you can beat Ash that you will become the greatist trainer in all the world."
"So we have eight more matches to win. If we both make it to the final round than we'll have to battle each other."
"Well let's just rest for now. The first half of the field round is over and we'll need rest for the second half."
 
Chapter 22, The Third Round​

We went to the Pokemon Center to find out who we'll be batteling. My battle was today at three o' clock and Monica's was tomorrow. I was to battle a trainer named Cindy and Monica was to battle a trainer named Danel. I was to battle on the water field and Monica was to battle on the grass field. I got ready for my match. I chose for my two Pokemon Jolteon and Dragonite. It was soon time for my match and I walked onto the water field. The field was actualy a pool with a few rafts for noneswimming Pokemon. "It's time for the 3rd round match of Chris from Pallet Town and Cindy From Veridain City. Chris, from the red side, will choose first."
"I know you, your that little kid always ruining Team Ozone's plans."
"So your a member of Team Ozone, I think it's time I teach you a leson in kindness."
"Kindness never ehlped anyone. don't you know you have to force your pokemon to od what you want to win? you will never win with kindness."
"Well we shale so about that wont we? Go Jolteon!"
Cindy sent out a Feraligator and attacked with Water Gun and Jolteon dodged the attack and used Thunderbolt. Feraligator was hit and took some heave damage. Feraligator got ready for a Bite attack, and while it bit down on Jolteon I had it use Thunder. Feraligator was knocked out and Cindy sent out her second pokemon, a Gyradose. I had Jolteon use Thunder and it knocked Gyradose out in one hit. This was my easyist match so far. "The victor is Chris from Pallet Town with a flawless victory." I met up with Monica, Max and my parents and I told them about how Cindy was one of the leaders for Team Ozone. "Well maybe now that you beat one of there leaders so easly they will think twice about doing wrong while we're around." We rested for the rest of the day and the next day I went into the stands to watch Monica's third round match. "This is a third round match of Monica from Pallet Town agenst Danel from Cerulain City. Danel, from the red side, will choose first." Danel sent out a Tropius and Monica sent out Salamence. Tropius attacked with Razor Leaf and Salamence used Flamethrower. It stopped the attack and hit Tropius. Tropius took some heavy damage, but it didn't look close to giving up. Tropius than attacked with Body Slam. It was a direct hit on Salamence and it took a little wile to get back up. Salamence took to the sky and used Fly on Tropius. Tropius took heavy damage and was knocked out. Danel than sent out Sealeo. Sealeo used Blizzard and it hit Salamence hard. Sense Salamence is both Dragon and Flying type, it took very heavy damage. Salamence was knocked out and Monica sent out Charizard. Monica had Charizard use Sismic Toss and it did some good damage to Sealeo. Sealeo attacked with Ice Beam but it missed. Charizard than attacked with Slash. Sealeo was knocked out and Monica won the battle. It was three more day untill the 4th round. We trained the first day and rested the next two days. It was now time to see who we would beat next.
 
Chapter 23, The 4th And Final Field Round​

We went to the Pokemon Center to find out who and when we would battle. I was to battle a trainer named Fred in two day and Monica was to battle a trainer named Bertha tomorrow. I was to battle on the ground field and Monica was to battle on the water field. I decided to choose Charizard and Gardevoir. We rested until Monica's match tomorrow. She said she'd choose Gyradose and Ninetails for the match she had. The next day I took my place in the stands and watched Monica's match. "This is a 4th round match of Monica from Pallet Town and Bertha from Verdanturf Town. Bertha, from the red side, will choose first." Bertha sent out a Kingdra and Monica sent out Gyradose. Gyradose attacked with Dragon Breath and Kingdra took heavy damage. Kingdra attacked with Twister and Gyradose went under water to dodge the attack, but the Twister started sucking up the water. Gyradose went up with the water and flew out and headed towards Kingdra. Gyradose used a Body Slam attack but the water prevented much damage. Gyradose than used Hyper Beam attack and hit Kingdra. Kingdra also used a Hyper Beam attack. Both attacks hit, but Gyradose did more damage. Kingdra was knocked out and Bertha sent out a Venusaur. Venusaur used Solar Beam and knocked Gyradose out sense it was weak from it's battle with Kingdra. Monica then sent out her Ninetails to battle Venusaur. Ninetails and Venusaur where on the only two mats not in water. If either fell off than they would be no longer be able to battle. Venusaur used Razor Leaf and Ninetails used Overheat to stop the attack and hit Venusaur. Venusaur was knocked into the water and Monica won her battle. I met up with her and we started talking about how we're going to win to win this ternament, but we knew we'd have to battle each other soon. The next day I got ready for my battle with Fred. I went to the ground field and I spotted Monica in the stands. We waved to each other and the anouncer came on the speaker. "Welcome to this 4th round match of Chris From Pallet Town and Fred from Saffron City. Fred, from the red side, will chose first." Fred sent out a Sandslash and I sent out Charizard. Sandslack tried a Sand Attack but missed. I told Charizard to use Dig and it used it's claws to dig underground. Sandslash got ready for my Charizard to come up, but what I had in plan we going to be a big suprize for Sandslash. Just like how I trainer it to do these past few weeks, when Charizard came up out of the ground it used Blast Burn making it so Sandslash didn't have time to prepare for the attack. Sandslash was knocked out and Fred than sent out a Blastoise. Blastoise used Hydro Pump and knocked Charizard out. It was now up to Gardevoir to win. I sent Gardevoir out and had it use Future Sight. Blastiose used Hydro Pump and I had Gardevoir block with Double Team. I than had Gardevoir use Psychic attack and send Blastiose into a large rock. just as Blastiose was recovering from the attack Future Sight hit and knocked Blastiose out. I won the battle and got a huge cheep from the crowd. Now that I looked closly, about 1/3 of the people there where cheering for me to win. I didn't excpect so many people to become my fans.
 
Chapter 24, The First Of The Six Battles​

"Now that the field rounds are over only 32 people remain in the Indego League. Please report to the Pokemon Center to find out who and when you'll be battling next. Also, in these battles, you use all six of your Pokemon, choose your team wisly."
"Condradulations Monica and Chris, you made it through the field rounds. Just six more battles and you will come out on top, well one of you alyway. And both of you are very strong, I can't tell who will win when you two battle each other."
"All we have to worry about right now is getting past the other trainers. We need to go to the Pokemon Center to see who we battle so bye Max."
"Bye, I'll see you guys at your matches."
We went into the Pokemon Center and asked the Nurse who we were to battle next. I was to battle someone named Tracey and Monica was to battle someone named Richie. Both of our battle where tomorrow so we rested for our big battles tomorrow. The next day I was to battle first and I took my place in the large stadium. This one was about five times bigger then the field ones and it had a normal battle field. I couldn't find Monica, Max or my parents, but there where hundreds of people cheering me on. "Welcome to this battle between Chris from Pallet Town and Tracey from the Orange Isands. Chris, from the red side, will choose first." I sent out Ditto, to make sure my opponent didn't get the upper hand. Tracey sent out a Scizor and my Ditto Transformed into a dull gold colored Scizor, it was the same color as the field making it harder to see. Scizor attacked with Metal Calw and Ditto used Quick Attack. Scizor was caught off gaurd and hit hard with the Quick Attack. I had Ditto quickly follow up with a Stell Wing attack. Scizor didn't have time to dodge the attack and has hit to the ground agen. I made Ditto keep up the attacks and sense mine was the same color as the field Scizor had no idea where the attacks where coming from and couldn't defend itself. I soon won the batt;e agenst Scizor and Tracey than sent out an Azumaril. I returned Ditto to use another time and sent out Jolteon. Azumaril attacked with Bubble Beam and I had Jolteon dodge the attack and use Thunderbolt. Azumaril got a direct hit and was knocked out by the attack. Tracey than sent out a Venomoth and I returned Jolteon and sent out Charizard. I had Charizard use Blast Burn and it knocked Venomoth in one hit. Tracey than sent out a Tyranitar. I retuned Charizard and sent out Dragonite. I had Dragonite use Hydro Pump and it did alot of damage to Tyranitar, but it was still going. Tyranitar attacked with Rock Tomb and did alot of damage to Dragonite. I had Dragonite use Dragon Rage and it knocked Tyranitar out. Tracey than sent out Flygon. I kept Dragonite out. Flygon attacked with Twister and I attacked with Ice Beam. The Twister diflected the Ice Beam right back at Dragonite and thn the Twister hit Dragonite. Dragonite fainted and I sent our Gardevoir. Flygon used Crunch and did major damaeg to Gardevoir. I had Gardevoir use Psychic and sent Flygon flying across the field. Flygon got back up and attacked with another Crunch attack. Gardevoir was knocked out and I sent out Zangoose. I had Zangoose attack With Crush Claw, and sense Flygon was weak from battling with the other Pokemon, it was knocked out. Tracey was now down to his last Pokemon. He sent out Smeargle. I had Zangoose attack with Slash and Smeargle used Reflect to stop the attack. I attacked with Crush Claw and it used Reflect agen. It than attacked with a Focus Punch attack and knocked Zangoose out. I than sent Jolteon out to battle. I used Thunderbolt and it hit. Smeargle than attacked with Earthquake and it hit Jolteon knocking it out. I than sent out Charizard agen to win the battle. I had it use Blast Burn and when the fire cleared Smeargle was knocked out. I won my first six Pokemon battle. I found Monica and she congradulated me with a kiss. It was now time for Monica's battle with Richie. I took my place in the stands and found out there was just as many people cheering for Monica as there was that cheered for me. "Welcome, it's time for the battle between Monica from neerbye Pallet Town and Richie from Littleroot Town. Richie, from the red side, will choose first." Richie sent out a Pikachu and Monica sent out Metagross. Pikachu attacked with Quick Attack, but it seemed like Metagross didn't even feel the attack. Metagross attacked with Earthquake and knocked Pikachu out. Richie then sent out a Charizard. Charizard attacked with Overheat and savirly weakined by the attack. metagross attacked with Psychic attacke and slamed Charizard agenst the ground. Charizard attacked with Flamethrower and knocked Metagross out. Monica then sent out her Gyradose. Gyradose used Hydro Pump and did alot of damage to Charizard. Charizard attacked with Dragon Rage and did some damage to Gyradose. Gyradose used another Hydro Pump and Charizard was knocked out. Richie than sent out Butterfree. Butterfree used Sleep Powder and Gyradose fell asleep. Butterfree than used Dream Eater. Monica returned Gyradose sense it c ould no longer atack and sent out Charizard. Charizard used Blast Burn and Butterfree was knocked out. Richie then sent out Pidgeot. Pidgeot used Sky Attack and did alot of damage, but it was slowed down for a while. While Pidgeot was recharging from the attack Monica had Charizard use Overheat. The attack did alot of damage, but not enuf to knock out Pidgeot. Pidgeot attacked with Mirror Move and used Overheat and knocked Charizard out. Monica then sent out Beautifly. Beautifly used String Shot and tied Pidgeot up and it fell to the ground. The hit from the ground made Pidgeot faint and Richie sent out Shiftry. Beautifly used Silver Wind and did a loarge amount of damage to Shiftry. Shiftry attacked with Gust and did alot of damage to Beautifly. Beautifly used Silver Wind and knocked Shiftry out. Richie then sent out Huntail. Huntail attacked with Hydro Pump and knocked Beautifly out. Monica then sent out Salamence to battle. Salamence attacked with Wing Attack and Huntail was hit directly. Huntail attacked with Bite and attacked itself to Salamence. Monica had Salamence try a Thunderbolt attack like Dragonite can and it worked. Salamence used Thunderbolt and knocked out Huntail. Monica won her first battle in this part of the ternament.
 
Chapter 25, The Second Match​

I met up with Monica after her battle and we had a small celebration. Now that the first part of the finals was only 16 people remained in the tournament. "We both already done as good as Ash did when he first faced the Indigo League, we may do this after all."
"At this rate we'll be battling each other real soon. In the next round there's only 16 people, that makes it a one in 15 chance of use battling each other, and if we don't battle, then in the round after than there is a one in seven chance of use battling and so on. But there is a chance that we will battle each other in the final match."
"Well I'm tired after my battle, lets get some rest, the next round is it three day."
"I could use some rest too."
We went to bed and the next morning we trained for out next battles. In what seemed like no time at all it was time for the second round of the finals. We went to the Pokémon Center to find out who we were to battle. I was to battle someone named Jinafer and Monica was to battle someone named George. My match was tomorrow and Monica's was in two days. We got some rest for the day and the next day I got ready for my battle. This time I was able to find Monica in the stands and I waved to her. Knowing Monica was watching I felt more confident in winning my match. "Welcome to the battle between Chris from Pallet Town and Jinafer from Mossdeep City. Chris, from the red side, will choose first." I sent out Zangoose and Jinafer sent out Luvdisc. I attacked with Crush Claw and Luvdisc used Sweet Kiss. Sweet Kiss missed and Crush Claw sent Luvdisc flying into the wall of the field. Luvdisc fainted and Jinafer sent out Machamp. I had Zangoose attack with Slash. Machamp used Cross Chop. My attack hit first weakening the strength of Cross Chop, but it still did a lot of damage. Machamp attacked with Low Kick and Zangoose was knocked out. I sent our Gardevoir and had it use Psychic. Machamp took the full force of the attack and was knocked out. Jinafer than sent out Cacturne. Cacturne used Faint Attack and did a lot of damage to Gardevoir. I had Gardevoir use Future Sight and Cacturne used Needle Arm and Gardevoir was knocked out. I sent out Charizard and had it use Flamethrower. At the same time Flamethrower hit Future Sight hit and Cacturne was knocked out. Jinafer than sent out Shedinja. I had Charizard use Flamethrower and Shedinja was knocked out, its ability doesn't work on super effective hits. Jinafer sent out Aggron as her last Pokémon. Aggron used Ancient Power and it knocked Charizard out. I than sent out Dragonite in hopes of a quick victory. I had Dragonite use Hydro Pump and it hit. Aggron was almost knocked out and it used Hyper Beam. The attack knocked out Dragonite, but Aggron was really weak. I sent out Jolteon and I knocked out Aggron with just one Thunderbolt attack. I won my second round in the finals. I went up to Monica in the crown and since my parents nor Max was around I gave her a kiss. We talked about how Monica should battle in her match tomorrow and then after eating at the hotel we went to bed. The next morning I got up and Monica and I ate a nice big breakfast for her match today. When it was time for her match I found a nice front row seat in the stands. Monica seen me and we waved and blew a kiss to each other. "Welcome to the last match of the second round in the finals. This match is Monica from Pallet Town" there was a huge uproar from the crowd. "Against George from the Sevii Islands. George, from the red side, will be the first to choose." George sent out a Golem and Monica sent out Gyarados. Gyarados used Hydro Pump and Golem was knocked out in one hit since it was 4x weak against water attacks. George sent out Lanturn and attacked with Spark. Gyarados was knocked out and Monica sent out Metagross. Metagross attacked with Earthquake and did some damage to Lanturn. Lanturn attacked with Bubble Beam and Metagross stopped the attack with a Psybeam. Metagross then attack Lanturn with Psychic and Lanturn was knocked out. George than sent out Torkoal. Torkoal used Overheat and Metagross was knocked out. Monica then sent out Ninetails. Ninetails used Confuse Ray and Torkoal got confused. Torkoal tried to use a Flamethrower attack, but it missed and nearly attacked it's owner instead. Ninetails used Extreme Speed and did a lot of damage to Torkoal. Torkoal came back to its senses and used Flamethrower. Ninetails dodged the attack and used Quick Attack and Torkoal was knocked out. George than sent out a Poliwrath. Poliwrath used Hydro Pump and Ninetails was knocked out. Monica then sent out Beautifly. Beautifly used Giga Drain and took energy from Poliwrath and did a lot of damage. Poliwrath used Hypnosis but it didn't work. Beautifly used another Giga Drain and Poliwrath was knocked out. George then sent out Gengar. Gengar used Shadow Ball and did a lot of damage to Beautifly and Beautifly used Gust and did a little damage to Gengar. Gengar used another Shadow Ball and Beautifly was knocked out. Monica then sent out Charizard. Charizard used Flamethrower and Gengar was getting close to becoming knocked out, Gengar used Night Shade and did a lot of damage to Charizard. Charizard used Flame Tackle and Gengar was knocked out. George then sent out Blissey as his last Pokémon. Charizard used Overheat and did a lot of damage to Blissey, but Blissey can take a lot of damage. Blissey used Egg Bomb and Charizard almost got knocked out, one more attack would do it. Charizard used Blast Burn and Blissey was knocked out. Monica won her battle and both of us where now in the top eight. I met up with Monica and we kissed each other and celebrated the whole night. It was only one more day until the next round so we rested the whole time.

Chapter 26, Friend Vs Friend​

After a whole days of celebrating and resting we went to the Pokémon Center to find out whom we would battle in the 3rd round of the finals. When we looked up at the screen that showed who was battling who, we got a big surprised. Monica and I were to battle each other. We should have been prepared for this since the chances of it happening where great. We were to be the last to battle in the 3rd round of the finals. We told everyone we knew about it and they told us to try our best and not let our love for each other get in the way of battling. We spent the whole day wondering who would advance to the next round and that night I couldn't sleep knowing that either I had to lose, or beat Monica in a battle. Monica didn't sleep that night either. It was still another day until our battle and we spent most of the day sleeping. When the time came for our battle we went to the stadium and when we walked onto the battlefield everyone started cheering. About the whole stadium either cheered for me or Monica, we where the two favorites of the entire competition in the Indigo League this year. "It's the final battle of the 3rd round and this is expected to be a great battle. It's Chris and Monica from the Pallet area and they are the favorites this year. It looks like half the stadium will be cheering and the other half will be sad since almost everyone likes these two. Chris, from the red side will choose first." I sent out Ditto and Monica sent out Beautifly. My Ditto transformed into a Beautifly and used String Shot. Beautifly dodged the attack and used Tackle. Ditto was hit and attacked with Absorb. Beautifly was hit, but took little damage. Ditto used Silver Wind and Beautifly used Gust. Ditto was knocked out and I sent out Zangoose. Zangoose used Crush Claw and Beautifly was knocked out. Monica sent out Ninetails and attacked with Quick Attack. Zangoose also used Quick Attack and they both hit. Both of them took heavy damage and Zangoose came in for a Crush Claw attack. Ninetails used Flame Tackle and also got hit by the Crush Claw. Both Pokémon fainted and I sent out Jolteon and Monica sent out Metagross. Metagross used Earthquake and Jolteon took very heavy damage. Jolteon used Pin Missile and did some damage and Metagross used another Earthquake attack and Jolteon was knocked out. I sent out Dragonite and used Fire Blast and Metagross was knocked out. Monica then sent out Salamence. It was now Dragon vs. Dragon. We both used Dragon Claw and did heavy damage. Dragonite used Blizzard and Salamence used Fire Blast. It created a lot of steam and neither of us could see a thing. Our dragons started to battle in the steam and it suddenly went very quiet. When the steam cleared both Dragonite and Salamence where out cold. We returned out Pokémon and I sent our Gardevoir and Monica sent out Gyarados. I attacked with Psychic and sent Gyarados into the wall Gyarados attacked with Bite and missed. I used Future Sight and Gyarados used Hydro Pump. It did heavy Damage to Gardevoir and I attacked with another Psychic attack. It sent Gyarados right into the ground, but it was still going. Gyarados used Hyper Beam just as Future Sight hit. Both Pokémon got hit and where knocked out. Monica and I were now down to our last Pokémon, Charizard. We sent out our Charizards and I remembered about the battle I had with Monica in Celadon City and how I just barely won. Monica has grown a lot stronger then back then, there's no telling who will win. Our Charizards started to attach each other with fire attacks and they all kept missing. They then took to the sky and rammed each other with their heads. They then grabbed each other’s arms and used Seismic Toss on each other. They both hit the ground very hard and created a lot of dust. When the dust settled they where still fighting with there claws. They then both used Dragon Rage and created a huge explosion. This was it, only one Charizard was standing, but who's was it? The smoke slowly cleared and no one made a noise, not even the people selling food and drinks to the people in the stadium. It was so quiet you could hear the heavy breathing of the only standing Charizard. The smoke slowly cleared enough to tell whose Charizard was standing. There was a huge cheer from the crowd; Monica's Charizard was the one standing. "Amassing, simply amazing. This was the best battle I ever saw by two beginning trainers. Monica has won the battle by just a hair and will advance to the 4th round of the finals. Chris, sadly, will no longer be in the tournament, both of you fought your best and there is no need to be sad. It's time to get things ready for the final eight people to participate in the Indigo League."
"You did great Chris. Don't worry, you still got 9th place out of hundreds of people who participated in the Indigo League. You did even better then when Ash first battled in the Indigo League."
"Thanks Monica, that was a great battle. I may have lost, but I feel happy that you won. I hope you do great in your next battles, I'll be cheering for you all the way."
"Thank you so much Chris, you’re a really great person."
Both of us started crying, not from sadness, but from love of each other. Somehow I know I would be with Monica forever.
 
Chapter 27, The End Is Near​

Monica was going to battle someone named Ross in two days in the 4th round of the finals. Monica and I spent the whole day off celebrating her victory, and how I put up a great fight. My Indigo League experience may have been over, but it only made me want Monica to win even more. When the time came for her battle I was able to get a front row seat and when Monica walked onto the field nearly the whole stadium cheered for her. "Welcome to the battle of Monica against Ross. Ross, from the red side, will choose first." Ross sent out an Ursaring and Monica sent out her Charizard. Ursaring used Hyper Beam and Charizard dodged the attack and used Headbutt on Ursaring. Ursaring used Slash and did some damage to Charizard. Charizard used Flame Tackle and did heavy damage to Ursaring. Ursaring fired a Hyper Beam and this time it hit Charizard causing heavy damage. Charizard used Overheat and Ursaring was knocked out. Ross then sent out Kabutops. Kabutops used Hydro Pump and knocked Charizard out. Monica then sent out Beautifly and attacked with Giga Drain. Kabutops suffered heavy damage, but was still going. Kabutops used Slash and did a lot of damage to Beautifly. Beautifly used Giga Drain again and Kabutops was knocked out. Ross then sent out Nidoking and attacked with Sludge Bomb. It knocked Beautifly out and Monica chose Gyarados to battle Nidoking. Gyarados used Hydro Pump and did heavy damage to Nidoking. Nidoking used Thrash and did heavy damage to Gyarados. Gyarados also used Thrash and knocked Nidoking out. Ross then sent out Steelix as her 4th Pokémon. Gyarados was still thrashing around and didn't do much damage to Steelix. Steelix then used Rock Slide and knocked Gyarados out. Monica then sent out Salamence and attacked with Fire Blast and hit Steelix. Steelix took heavy damage, but was still going strong. Steelix used Rock Slid but missed. Salamence used Flamethrower and this time Steelix used Sand Storm to block it. "Salamence, keep up the fire. Steelix is trapped inside the Sand Storm if we keep it up." Salamence kept the Flamethrower going the best it could and soon the sand started melting and trapped Steelix in a column of glass. The glass broke apart and Steelix fell to the ground, knocked out. Ross then sent out Cloyster and attacked with Ice Beam. Salamence dodged the attack and used Thunderbolt. Cloyster took heavy damage, but was still able to fight. Cloyster used Ice Beam again and this time it worked. Salamence fainted and Monica sent out Metagross. Metagross attacked with Psychic and slammed Cloyster against the wall and if fell to the ground knocked out. Ross was down to his last Pokémon and had a smirk on his face, he was up to something. "Time for you to meet my secret weapon, this Pokémon has never lost a battle and it won't be losing any time soon. Go Milotic!" Ross sent out his last Pokémon, a Milotic. Monica had Metagross use Meteor Mash and it hit, but didn't do that much damage. Milotic than used Water Pulse and did some damage to Metagross. Metagross than attack with Psychic and sent Milotic into the wall. Milotic look like it was about to faint. "Milotic, use recover." Milotic started glowing and was mostly healthy again. Milotic then used Ice Beam. Metagross took some damage and was starting to get really weak. Metagross attacked with Meteor Mash and Milotic used Hydro Pump and Metagross was knocked out. Monica was down to her last Pokémon, Ninetails. Milotic was getting weak again from the Meteor Mash attack and Ross told it to use recover again. "Ninetails, use Extreme Speed before it has a chance to use recover." Ninetails used Extreme speed as fast as it could and hit Milotic with all it could. It worked, it stopped Recover and Milotic fell to the ground knocked out. Monica just barely won against Ross, but she now was in the top four. Monica's next battle was in two days so we rested and I trainer with Monica also. Monica's next opponent was Robin from Fortree City.
 
Chapter 28, The End Of The Indigo League​

Monica got ready for her battle with Robin and headed to the stadium for her battle. "Welcome to the 3rd from final match in the Indigo League. This match is Monica vs. Robin. Monica, on the red side, will choose first." Monica sent out Beautifly and Robin sent out Typhlosion. Typhlosion used Overheat and knocked Beautifly out. Monica then sent out Salamence. Salamence used Hydro Pump and did a lot of damage to Typhlosion. Typhlosion used Role Out and did some damage to Salamence. Salamence used another Hydro Pump and knocked Typhlosion out. Robin than sent out Delcatty. Delcatty used Blizzard and knocked Salamence out. Monica then sent out Ninetails. Ninetails used Flame Tackle and did some damage to Delcatty. Delcatty used Assist and it turned into Psychic. Ninetails was slammed against the wall and took heavy damage. Ninetails used Overheat and Delcatty was knocked out. Robin than sent out Slowking and attacked with Bubble Beam. Ninetails was knocked out and Monica sent out Metagross. Slowking used Surf and did some damage to Metagross. Metagross used Earthquake and did some damage to Slowking and Slowking used Future Sight. Metagross used Meteor Mash and Slowking nearly got knocked out. Slowking used Water Pulse and did some damage to Metagross. Metagross used Earthquake and Future Sight hit Metagross. Both Slowking and Metagross fainted and Monica sent out Charizard and Robin sent out Kangaskhan. Kangaskhan used Dizzy Punch and it hit Charizard. Charizard was confused and couldn't see where it was attacking and it's Flamethrower missed. Kangaskhan than attacked with Mega Punch and did some damage to Charizard. Charizard was normal now and used Overheat and did a lot of damage to Kangaskhan. Kangaskhan used Comet Punch and it knocked Charizard out. Monica was down to her last Pokémon and Robin still had two left. Monica sent out Gyarados and used Hyper Beam. Kangaskhan was knocked out and Ross sent out Raichu. Raichu used Volt Tackle and Gyarados didn't have time to dodge the attack. The attack hit Gyarados and Gyarados was out for the count. Monica lost to Robin and finished 3rd in the Indigo League. "Monica, you did very good. You battled your best and that's what counts. At least you got in third place, that's better than 9th place."
"Chris, we both did our best, it doesn’t matter what place we got in. Come on let's go home."
We both found Max and my parents and we watched the last two battles and the winner of the Indigo League was Robin. We headed back to Pallet Town and by the time we got back when we turned on the TV we heard that Robin lost the first of the Elite Four. "The Elite Four must be very strong if Robin couldn't even get past the first one."
"Your right. We may need to do a lot more training if we're going to ever become the best."
"Monica, the next Orange League is in a month, and it's the last one. I think we should go and train there. We can take a boat to the Orange Islands right here from Pallet."
"That's a good idea Chris. It looks like we have more to do after the Indigo League."
"You two should go there. I was once there studying some Lugia that live along those islands. Who knows, you two might even find one. And if you can find a young one, if it's no longer with its mother you might be able to catch one, but no one has ever successfully captured one before."
So we decided to head for the Orange Islands in one month.
 
Chapter 29, A New Adventure​

During the month of waiting for the boat, we just had fun and helped Professor Fergunson with his Pokémon, we had a great time. It was soon time for the boat to come and we headed to the small port by Pallet Town. There were a couple fishing boats, but the boat to the Orange Islands wasn't there. We asked a few of the people about it and one of them said that Team Ozone stole the boat for some reason. "How are we going to get to the Orange Island now?"
"Well, I don't have anything to do for a while, I could take you around the islands if you want me to."
"That would be great, thanks. We never got each other’s names. I'm Monica and this is Chris, who are you?"
"My names Oliver, I'm a very good ship captain and you won't have to worry about my boat sinking."
"Went can we leave? And where is the closest island?"
"We can leave right now if you want, and the nearest island is about a day or two away, it depends on the whether. All the other island are only a couple hours apart after that."
"That's good, I would like a rest after having to travel all through the Kento Region."
"So you two went to all the towns and cities?"
"Yup, how do you think we got the eight badges to get into the Indigo League?"
"You two were in the Indigo League? I wasn't able to watch it because I was out at sea. So how did you two do?"
"I got 3rd place, and Chris got 9th. We had to battle each other and I just barely won."
"Well you two would make good people to be with. Well let's go, we should go since a storm will be moving in a couple of days and we don't want to get caught up in it."
We got onto the small boat; it looked like it would only fit about five people. Oliver showed us the room we were to sleep in and showed us the kitchen and said we can get something to eat whenever we wanted. He also showed us how the boat worked. "You see, unlike other boats that use wind, coal or fuel to run, mine is solar powered. It used 60% of the energy it gets from the sun and stores the other 40% for night Time or if it gets cloudy."
"That's cool. They should make more boats like this one."
"Well, I'm trying to make it so only solar power boats are made, that way there will be less pollution in the seas, but there is little pollution in the world right now, but a lot of people think even a little is too much."
We sailed far out into the ocean. After a while we could no longer see the land. I looked off the side of the boat and seen some water Pokémon following us. "Why do those Pokémon follow us?"
"I think that these Pokémon around here don't see many boats so they follow them trying to see if they are a threat to them or just something that doesn't hurt them at all. They will stop following us soon."
I could see many different sea Pokémon in the water. I watched a school of Magikarp play some sort of a game like tag, but it looked like about three different Magikarp were chasing the others and then running once they touched another Magikarp. After I got bored with watching them I watched some Tentacool and Tentacrule having practice battles. "What are you doing Chris?"
"Hi Monica, I'm just watching the Pokémon. It sure is different out in the sea."
"I know, but once we get to the Orange Islands we'll be back on land."
Monica and I watched the Pokémon battle. After a while the Pokémon left. I thought all the Pokémon had left, but there was one left. Monica and I seen a Luvdisc still following us. "Chris, do you know the legend about Luvdisc?"
"No what is it?"
"Well, a long time ago a young couple were having problems with their families because their parents didn't want them marrying. One day when both of them thought that they would never see each other again they went to the shore for one final date. While they were looking out to sea, a Luvdisc appeared. Not soon after there families found them at the shore. They said they talked it over and they decided that they could marry. Ever since then a legend has been going around that couples that see a Luvdisc would have a bright and happy future."
"That's a nice legend for a nice Pokémon, I hope it's true."
Monica and I watched the Luvdisc swim away and then we shared a long kiss. After that the sun started to set. It was a beautiful pink, orange, yellow and red sunset. After it was done we went into the cabin and ate some dinner. We had a great lobster meal with a sweet tasting seaweed on the side. After dinner we went back outside just as a full moon was rising. Out in the sea it looked bigger and even more beautiful. When it first rose it was a strange light pink color, but it soon turned white. We watched the stars for a while after that and it started getting really cold outside. We gave each other another kiss and went to bed for the night. Before a went to sleep I hoped with all my heart that Monica and I could one day marry each other, I loved her that much. The next morning we woke up and had breakfast and helped Oliver with cleaning the boat. "We should reach the first island by night time tonight."
"So do you know how the Orange League works around here?"
"I do, but since this is the last year they’re holding it, it won't be much use. Well here's how it works: There are four islands that have gyms, but each gym has it's own way of testing trainers, they don't just battle. You need to go to all four gyms and earn a badge and then you can enter the stadium and battle the leader of the Orange League, if you can beat him in battle, you earn a trophy and you are placed in a hall of fame that they record all the winners in. You two might have a chance winning, the reason they are no longer going to hold the Orange League is that no one has won since Ash did a long time ago. So you two will have your skills tested if you enter."
"Don't worry, we both did great in the Indigo League, this shouldn't be too hard after that."
"Don't be fooled little miss, Demon is a powerful trainer. He got his Pokémon from his father who Ash beat when he challenged the Orange League."
"Don't worry, Monica and I will try our best to win."
After helping Oliver clean the boat it was time for lunch. We had some crabs that we caught just a few days ago. They tasted great with melted butter and the sweet seaweed mixed with them. After launch we had almost nothing to do. Oliver was bust steering the boat to make sure we stayed in the right direction so Monica and I started thinking of something to do. After a few minutes of coming up with nothing a bunch of Mantine stared leaping out of the water. "You two should watch them, it's amazing how the Mantine seem to just fly out of the water with ease. Hay that reminds me, there is a small island not far from here, how about we stop there and go for a swim?"
"That would be great, I could use a nice swim, but we don't have any swim suits."
"Don't worry, I also run a small swimming pool on one of the Orange Islands, I have some swim suits that might fit you."
Oliver got some swimsuits out from a trunk in the cabin. I had white swimming trunks and Monica got a two-piece bathing suit that was a bright pink color. We took turns changing in the cabin and we soon reached the small island. The water around it was very shallow so we didn't have to worry about the riptide taking us into the ocean. We jumped off the boat and made a huge splash in the water. We played around for a bit and after a while we heard a strange noise. It was coming from the island we were at. The island was only a few hundred feet in length so it wasn't hard to look around. After a couple minutes we found what was making the noise. It was a Trapinch that was stranded on the island. "It looks like it's mother Flygon forgot to take it with her, come on, let's bring it to the boat, it's probable very hungry." We took it to the boat and fed it. It became very friendly to us. Oliver said he would take care of it while we swam a little while longer. Monica and I went back to swimming and Oliver helped the lost Trapinch feel better. After about an hour Monica and I got back on the boat and got back into our normal cloths. "So how's the Trapinch doing?"
"It's doing great. It seems to like me a lot, I think I'll keep it with me when I go sailing, it can sometimes get very lonely. Well we better head off so we make it to the Orange Islands before the storm hits. We started out for the islands and it would only be about an hour or two before we reached them. In the distance we could see black clouds forming. We reached the Orange Islands just as the storm hit.
 
Chapter 30, Team Ozone Returns​

Oliver docked the boat and we ran inside of the Pokémon Center. The storm came with a strong wind and heavy rain. "It's a good thing this Pokémon Center is built to withstand sea storms like this."
"Are all the other Pokémon Centers built like this one?"
"Yup, you never know when a strong storm will come up, it's always good to be prepared for anything."
Just than the power went out in the Pokémon Center. "I thought you said the Pokémon Center can withstand these storms?"
"They can, someone must have cut the power."
There was a crashing noise coming from another room. We got some flashlights and went to see who or what it was. When we got to where the noise came from there was a broken window, but we couldn't find anyone. Oliver pointed out some footprints made by wet shoes leaving the room. We followed the footprints and they led into the basement. We opened the door to the basement and went inside. There was a Team Ozone member looking through some papers on a desk. What are you doing here?"
"I came here to get some research papers from this Pokémon Center. Now that I have what I came for I will leave."
The Team Ozone member sent out Crobat and had it use haze. Once the smoke cleared he was gone along with the papers. The nurse got the power back on and we told her that he stole some papers from the basement. "It shouldn’t be a problem, the papers where just a study on a ship that can be switched to take flight while in the middle of sailing. Not only that we have copies of the papers so it wouldn't do any damage. I'm puzzled why Team Ozone would steal papers on something like that."
We replaced the broken window and cleaned up. After that we went to bed and was able to sleep good, even with the storm raging outside. The next morning the storm had blown out and there was just harmless clouds overhead. Oliver was outside getting the boat recleaned after the storm blew some tree leaves and sand all over it. He was having his new Trapinch help him so we went into the Pokémon Center and got him some breakfast and we went inside to eat our own. After eating Oliver was done cleaning his boat and we were ready to leave. "So where to we register for the Orange League?"
"I think it's Shaimouti Island, it's in the center of the Orange Islands. It's about a day away but we'll get there in time."
We headed off to Shaimouti Island and the sun soon came out. Monica and I spent most of the time in the cabin playing card games. I let her win most of them but I won a few so she wouldn't get suspicious. About half way there we got bored playing with the cards so we started talking about what we where going to do after the Orange League. "Chris, do you have any plans for after we win the Orange League?"
"I was thinking that we would go to the Johto Region and then the Hoenn, but I'm not sure what to do after that. I heard that they might be opening a league in this one place, I forget what it's called but it's suppose to have some very strange Pokémon that have never been seen around here before."
"Well if it took us a little over a year to get the eight badges for the Indigo League than we have until we're about 14 until we have nothing to do. I hope they open the league before than because when my journey here is done my family might want me to return, even though I said I wouldn't return until I was the best trainer in the world. I think I might have seen them while at the Indigo League, but I lost them in the crowd before I could make sure of it."
"Don't worry, if we stick together we will become the best team in the whole world."
"I don't ever want to leave you, even if both of us lose I will be with you to help you get stronger and stronger until you’re the best."
"I'll do the same for you. With a team like ours we can't lose. And with friends like Mew and Max to help us along the way I don't see how we could lose."
"Everyone loses sometime, it's the greatest who lose the least."
"You're right Monica, even though we might lose from time to time, as long as we try our best we still are winners. Well let's ask Oliver how for Shaimouti Island is from here."
I went out and asked Oliver how much longer it was to Shaimouti Island and he said it would still be about another four hours. I went into the cabin and started to make something to eat for lunch. Monica and I made some boiled lobster with seaweed stuffed inside. "We made a good meal, I'll ask Oliver if he'd like some." Monica gave me a kiss on the lips and then went out to tell Oliver lunch was ready. We had lunch and Oliver said that we cooked even better than he does sometimes. He went back to sailing the ship and Monica and I groomed our Pokémon that could fit inside the cabin. "So how does Ninetails look?" I looked up from combing my Jolteon's hair and Monica's Ninetails was shinning in the light. "It looks as beautiful as you do Monica, how about my Jolteon?"
"It looks great how you lined all the spikes in its hair. Most people got poked by a Jolteon when they groom it."
It was still another hour until we reached Shaimouti Island so we decided to watch the Pokémon in the waters. We went outside and looked over the rails on the boat. After about ten minutes of seeing nothing I large shadow from under the water swam under us. We told Oliver about it and he didn't seem surprised. "There have been reports of a large Pokémon swimming in the Orange Islands for many years. Most people think it's a Lugia. Almost everyone has been convinced it was a Lugia ever since Ash saw one around here. Back when Ash was around your age Shaimouti Island was a place with native people with a festival about the legend of Lugia. I think it went like this:

Disturb not the harmony between Fire, Ice and Lightning
Less these titans reek destruction apon the world in which they clash
Though the waters great guardian shale arise to quell the fighting
Alone its song will fail, thus the earth shale turn to Ash
Oh chosen one, into thine hands bring together all three
There treasures combined tame the beast of the sea
From the trio of islands ancient spheres shale you take
Between life and death all the difference you'll make
Oh chosen one, you must climb to the shrine to write what is wrong
And the world will be healed by the guardian song

But now the island no longer holds the festival and the run a port there. As for the three island around the island. The Pokémon that lived there, Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres, left after they were attacked. No one has seen them since then. Lugia has been spotted a few times since then, but not as much as it used to be spotted."
"Maybe we'll get to see one while we're hear."
"Well you never know so it's best to keep a sharp eye. I can see Shaimouti Island, we'll be there in about a half hour so sit back and get ready to come back to land."
We watched Shaimouti get bigger and bigger is the horizon and we finally reached it. The sun was close to setting so we docked the boat and went into the Pokémon Center to register for the Orange League. "So you two will be entering the Orange League? Give me your Pokedexs and I'll get you registered."
The Nurse registered us and said we almost didn't make it. "Since it's the last year for the Orange League people have flocked from all over the world to enter and win. We can't have too many people register because we only have four gyms on the Islands and they will be very busy. Most of the time only one or two people get to battle Demon and no one has ever beaten him since he got his dad's Pokémon. Maybe now that so many trainers are entering this year someone will beat him this year."
"Don't you worry about that. Monica and I are very strong trainers and we will beat Demon and claim the trophy and be ever better known than before."
"Hey, I thought your names sounded familiar, you're the two kids from the Indigo League aren’t you? Ya, your Chris who got 9th and your Monica who got 3rd, well maybe you two will beat Demon."
After registering we ate dinner and rested for the night. The nearest island with a gym was about a four-hour sail from Shaimouti Island.
 
Chapter 31, An Odd Gym Battle

The next morning we got up and ate breakfast at the Pokémon Center and set sail for the first gym. After about two hours we came to a small island. "We're about half way to our destination, but would you two like to take a small break on that island over there? There aren’t many buildings but there could be something worth visiting there. So what do you say?"
"I guess we could take a quick look around we're not really in any hurry to the gym."
We stopped on the island and started to look around. "Well hello, what brings you to this small island of ours?"
"We're taking a small break to look around. Is there anything special on this island at all?"
"Well your in luck, David, the best glass sculpture in the Orange Islands and other places lives and works here because of the rich supply of the kind of sand he uses to make his sculptures. Would you to like to go see him?"
"Sure, do you know him?"
"Yup, I work for him. Just follow me."
We followed him to a small house with a large opening in the roof with smoke coming out of it. We went inside and we where introduced to David. "Well it sure is nice to have company on this small island. I'm David who are you three?"
"I'm Monica. I'm traveling with Chris to become the greatest team ever."
"I'm Chris."
"And I'm Oliver, I'm taking these two around the Orange Islands so they can compete in the Orange League."
"Well it's nice to meet all of you. If you'd like a glass sculpture you'll have to help me a little bit. I'm running a little low in sand and I have a big order to do and my partner is getting a little tired from all the sand he's been having to collect. If you three help him collect enough sand to finish the order I have to make I'll give you a glass sculpture."
"Well I guess we can help. Where do you get the sand from?"
"There's this place on the north side with the right kind of sand that I use. You can use my truck to put the sand in and drive it here."
Oliver drove us the north beach and it was unlike any other I've seen. It had white sand from the white rocks by the waters edge. "Why does he need this sand? Why can't he use the other sand?"
"The reason is that not all sand is the same. Most sand when it is melted down has small amounts of metals that don't melt and stay in the glass making it have small specks in it. People like glass that is clear all the way through and this sand doesn't have any metals in it, but just to make sure we have a magnet that we use to get any metals out of the sand. Normal sand can still have metal inside of the sand so the magnet won't work, but this sand is so fine that there are no metals in it, making it perfect for glass making."
"So how do you normally collect the sand?"
"Well I don't have any Pokémon so I use a shovel, but maybe your Pokémon can help."
"Hay, I got a Trapinch a few days ago and it can help."
Oliver sent out Trapinch and Oliver told it to put sand in the back of the truck. Trapinch took a huge mouthful of sand and jumped into the back of the truck and dumped it out. We would need more help if we wanted to finish by lunch. I sent out Ditto and it transformed into a very dark blue Trapinch and did the same. Monica sent out Metagross and it used its psychic powers to make sand cling to it and then it would jump over the truck and drop the sand into the back. The rest of us got some shovels and used them to scoop some sand into the back of the truck. We had the back filled in just two hours and we headed back the house. We then had to dump it into a weird machine so that any trash or metals were removed from the sand. It than dumped the sand into a large pot that was over a fire. It was really hot around the fire so we stayed back. The fire melted the sand into glass and David showed us how he did his work. He sent out a Dusclops and had it use psychic to lift some molten glass out of the pot. He than put on a weird looking glove. "I sculpt the glass with my hand so I have to put on these special gloves so my hands won't get burned." He started to move the melted glass with his hands and it started to cool off before he was done. He sent out a Magmar and had it use ember on the glass melting in some more so he could finish. When he was done it was in the shape of a Charmander and it looked great. He made sure it was staying in place and not drooping from still being hot and he set it on a shelf to cool. "I have to let it cool slowly or the glass will crack and be unable to sell. Well you did as I said so I'll each make you one small sculpture, what would you like?" Oliver chose a sculpture to look just like his new Trapinch. I chose one to looks just like my Zangoose and Monica chose hers to look like her Ninetails. He started working on the sculptures while we ate lunch. By the time we finished lunch he was done. "Wow, you’re really fast."
"That's why I'm the best. I do great work and at a fast pace. I hope one day I can make a good living with my sculptures and even have on in a museum. I know that if I keep up the good work someone might want one of my sculptures on display."
"Thanks for the glass sculptures, we'll send them back to our homes so they don't get broke. Well we have to get going. I hope your art goes well, bye."
We left and headed to out first gym battle. It didn't take long for us to reach the island. This island was bigger then the one we just left, but not as big as Shaimouti Island. We started looking around for the gym and soon found it. "Excuse me, but we would like to challenge the gym leader to a match."
"Well some challengers, it's been a few days since the last person came so I thought that everyone had already came here. Well you'll find that this gym isn't like the others. In this gym I test your skills in more than just battling. There are three challenges that you go up against me in and you have to win two out of three to get your badge. So who's going to challenge me?"
"Monica and I will challenge you. What are the challenges?"
"Your lucky, in the Orange Islands more than one trainer can challenge a gym leader at once in every gym. You two have the upper hand. Well the first challenge is a race. You will ride on one of your Pokémon by running or flying and both of you have to beat me in a lap around the island. After you do a lap you have to search the sand for a map. The map will tell you to go find a blue seashell and the first to find the seashell will win. To make sure the race is fair I have had one of my aids hide the map on the beach so not even I know where it's hidden. Met me just over there with your Pokémon for the race."
Monica and I talked about what Pokémon we should use and we decided on Dragonite and Salamence. We met the gym leader at the start line. "Oh, I just remembered we never introduced ourselves. I'm Stephen and who are you?"
"I'm Monica."
"I'm Chris. We want to be the best team to ever battle with Pokémon."
"Well you'll find out that in the Orange Islands there is little to do with battling. Well the race will start when my Machoke drops the green flag down. Well now to choose my Pokémon for the race. Go Rapidash."
Stephen sent out a Rapidash and got on it. We could tell it was raised to race, but both Dragonite and Salamence were fast fliers. Machoke dropped the green flag and the race was on. Monica and I took a fast lead, but Rapidash was not far behind. We raced around the island, which was quit big. After about a half hour of flying at about 100 kph we finished our lap around the island with about a five-minute lead in front of Stephen. We started looking through the sand on the beach for the map. I had Dragonite sniff the ground for it and we knew we where close. Just then Stephen showed up. "I don't know if I said this or not, but there's more then one map. Let's see who finds one of them first." He had his Rapidash paw at the ground with its hoof while my Dragonite sniffed the ground and Salamence blew sand away with its wings. After a few minutes Salamence blew a map out of the ground and I was able to grab it first. The map showed that the shell was in a whole in a big rock in the center of the island. As we took off to get the shell Stephen also found a map. Monica and I started looking for a large rock with a hole in it. After a few minutes of searching we found it, but Stephen was close behind us and also knew where the shell was. All three of us ran for the shell. Monica was in front of me so she was closest. We reached the rock at about the same time, but Monica was able to grab the shell first. It was a beautiful sky blue color. "Well it seems that you've won. Notice that on the back of that shell is a clip. That shell is your badge, but in order to earn it you'll have to beat me in another challenge. I'll take the shell for now." Stephen took the shell from Monica and told us about the second challenge. "What your suppose to do now is another kind of race. Look out there in the sea. See that thing floating out there? What you're suppose to do is race out there, turn around at the floating thingy, and then come back. Both of you have to use the same Pokémon, so chose a good one and then go change into some swim suits and meet me here." We decided to use my Dragonite since it could also swim very fast, but it would have to be underwater so we'd have to hold out breaths during the whole race. We went to the Pokémon Center and got some swimsuits. I got some trunks with a picture of a Seaking on them and Monica got a two-piece swimsuit that was a dark blue color. We went back to the spot for the second race. Stephen was already in the water with a Kingdra. I sent out Dragonite and it held us in its arms so we wouldn't lose grip and lose. This time the race would start when Kingdra hit a target with it's Water Gun attack. It hit the target and Dragonite dived under water with us. It was hard holding our breath with the water pushing at us with a lot of force. Dragonite stopped and raised above water the floating thing to let us bet some air before starting back. When we went above water we were ahead, but Stephen was in the lead when we started back. This time Dragonite was faster and it was over before we even knew it. Stephen didn't know who was in the lead when we got back. "It's a good thing I have a camera that might be able to help." Stephen climbed to the top of a pole with a camera on it and he came down with a picture. On the picture it showed Kingdra and Dragonite's shadow under water. We had just barely won by only an inch or two. "Well it looks like you two earned your badges. In the Orange League they can tell what gym you've been to by the type of shell. This kind of shell is only from my gym, and to make sure no one makes fake badges the shells have a little device in them that will beep when scanned." Monica took the beautiful sky blue colored badge and Stephen showed me a whole bunch of different colors of badges. I took a blood red one and we now both had our first Orange Island badges. We spent the rest of the day swimming in the ocean; we also wondered what kind of challenges the other gyms would have.
 
Chapter 32, I Think Pink​

The next day we set sail for the next island with a badge. Oliver said it would be about five hours until we reached the island, and there was a strange island he wanted to visit along the way. We agreed to stop along the way for a break. We got on the boat and set sail right after we ate breakfast at the Pokémon Center. To pass the time Monica and I played a few card games and watched the Pokémon in the sea. After about two and a half hours we reached the island Oliver wanted to visit. "This island is called Pinken Island because the fruit that grows here makes a Pokémon's skin turn pink." We walked around a bit and we ran into some pink Zigzagoons and pink Ralts. There were a lot of trees with a strange pink colored fruit that was a lot like an orange. "Why I never thought I'd see you guys here."
"Max!? What are you doing on Pinken Island?"
"I came here to study the Pokémon here. I find it quit odd that the fruit here would have the effect of turning Pokémon pink. It's very rare to get the opportunity to study the effect of a Pokémon's diet to how it looks so I came here to do some research that needs to be done."
"Chris, Monica, how's it going?"
"Jirachi!"
All four of us started to laugh at Jirachi. "Why are you laughing? Is there something stuck to me?"
"Jirachi, you've been eating the fruit here haven’t you?"
"Yes, how did you know?"
"Here, I'll show you."
Max sent out his Alakazam and had it use reflect so it would act like a mirror. Jirachi looked in the mirror and also started laughing. It was so cute and funny to see a pink Jirachi. After we stopped laughing we introduced Max and Jirachi to Oliver. "So you three came here to look at the Pokémon? Well I guess we all came here for the same reasons. I've only been here for about two days. I brought my own food for obvious reasons. I don't think becoming a pink professor would be too good for respect. "Max, when will I go back to my normal color?"
"You should return to your normal state in about a week or two Jirachi. You look great in pink, maybe we should bring some fruit with us when we come back."
We decided to let our Pokémon out for a while and then take a stroll around the island to study the pink Pokémon. We told our Pokémon not to eat the fruit while we were gone. We left to go search for more pink Pokémon. We soon came to a pink Bagon and Shelgon around the caves. Max was able to get close to them and inspect their skin. After the Bagon and Shelgon got bored and walked off we went inside the cave. Inside were pink Zubat and Golbat hanging from the ceiling. We also spotted pink Diglett on the ground, but they ran away before Max could get close. We went farther into the cave and came to a big room with a pond in the middle. There were pink Magikarp and Remoraid swimming inside. As we watched the Pokémon swim there was a noise on the other side of the pond. We looked up and there was a giant pink Onix on the other side of the pond. We seemed to be in it's cave and wanted us to leave. We ran out of the cave as it chased us and when we got out we decided to get back to the Pokémon. When we got there the Pokémon weren't in the same spot, but there were a lot of pieces of eaten fruit. We started looking for out Pokémon and found them trying to get some more fruit. It was funny seeing a pink Charizard grabbing for fruit. We got all of our Pokémon together to look at them. There were two pink Charizards, a pink Dragonite, Salamence, Ninetails, Zangoose, Jolteon, Metagross, Beautifly, Gardevoir, Gyarados and my Ditto, who was an odd blue all it's life, was now a normal pink color. We all started laughing again and the Pokémon also started laughing after looking at each other. It was a good thing the color wears off in a few weeks, but we would have pink Pokémon for a while. After returning our Pokémon we said goodbye to Max and headed to our next gym battle. After a while we finally reached the island for our next battle. It was getting late so we slept in the Pokémon Center for the night.
 
Chapter 33, The Challenge Of A Lifetime​

The next morning after we ate breakfast we went to the gym. When we got there was a sign on the door that said, "Out for a bit, be back soon. If you really need me I'm on top of the volcano." We didn't know weather to wait or not, but we soon decided to look for the gym leader. Not far away was an extinct volcano that was a little steep. We started climbing up the volcano, but it was hard since there was no place to get a good grip. We soon reached the top and started looking for the gym leader. We soon found someone and we went to see if it was the gym leader on the island. "Excuse me miss, but are you the gym leader on this island?"
"Why yes I am. What's it to ya?"
"Well we'd like to challenge you to a battle."
"That's fine and dandy, but I'm busy collectin' some herbs to heal my Pokémon. If y'all can help me I'll battle you today, but if you'd rather wait 'till tomorrow you don't have to help."
"Well help, what kind of flowers do you need?"
"See them pink ones with only two petals? Them are the ones I need. Here, take this here bucket to put 'em in and we'll be done in a jiffy."
Monica, Oliver and I helped collect the flowers and we were done in only about two hours. We climbed back down the volcano and went into the gym.
"So which ones of ya are hankerin' for a battle? I may have grown in the country all my young hood, but I'm fine and dandy with the Pokémon found here. I won most of my battles this year and it'll take more than some run-of-the-mill trainer to beat me."
"Both Monica and I are the ones who are going to battle. So what's your rules?"
"Ah yes, the rules, well lets see. Since both of ya wanna battle and I ain't in much of a mood for battlin’' right now, I'll make some special rules just for the two of ya. Ok now, I'll use two Pokémon in a two-on-two battle and each of y'all will use just one Pokémon. Ya got that?"
"Yes, let's get started."
We went into the battle arena and got ready for the battle. "Wait just a second here, we never introduced ourselves. I'm so used to bein' around the same people I almost never introduce myself and ask others who they are. Well my name's SueAnn, an who are y'all?"
"I'm Chris and this is Monica and Oliver. Now that we've been introduced let's battle."
SueAnn sent out a Solrock and Lunatone and I sent out Dragonite. Monica sent out her Beautifly and we started our battle. Solrock fired a Fire Blast at Beautifly and I had Dragonite stop the attack with Hydro Pump. While the room became full of steam from the attacks hitting each other, Beautifly tied Lunatone and Solrock together with String Shot. Solrock soon burned through the String Shot and Lunatone attacked my Dragonite with Rock Throw. Dragonite took to the air and flew in-between the rocks and used Headbutt on Lunatone. Beautifly attacked Solrock with Silver Wind and in did heavy damage. Then both Solrock and Lunatone attacked Dragonite with Hyper Beam. Dragonite tried to dodge the attacks but was hit by both of them. Dragonite wasn't knocked out, but it was very weak, just one more attack would knock it out. Monica had Beautifly use Morning Sun to help Dragonite and it worked. Solrock than attacked with Psychic on Beautifly. Dragonite went to stop the attack, but was blocked by Solrock. Dragonite attacked with Blizzard and froze Solrock in ice. Dragonite than attacked Lunatone with Slash stopping the attack. Solrock started heating up and soon melted the ice. Both Lunatone and Solrock fired another Hyper Beam attack at Dragonite. Dragonite used Thunderbolt at the same time on Solrock. All three attacks hit their target and Dragonite and Solrock were knocked out. It was now down to Beautifly and Lunatone. Beautifly was getting weak so Monica had it attack with Giga Drain and it hit. Lunatone was knocked out and we won the match. "Well it looks like I ain't gonna be keeping many badges to collect after this year. Here take your badges, ya earned them fare and square. I ain't got nothin' to do so how about all of us go to the port to look for this strange Pokémon I've been hearin' about? So what do ya say?"
"That would be great, we don't have anything to do either so let's go."
We went to the port to look for the strange Pokémon that was spotted a few times swimming under water. "What does the Pokémon look like SueAnn?"
"Well from what I here, it's really big and it was wings even though it's a swimmer. It's said to have caused some whirlpools in the port, but I ain't soon none yet."
"Well if we're lucky we'll find it, who knows it could even be a legendary Pokémon."
After a while we heard this strange noise. It was like the noise a whale makes, but it was also very different. Just then a large whirlpool formed in the ocean in front of us. Then, as if by psychic powers, the whirlpool rise out of the water. The whirlpool started glowing and it then broke up to revile a large gray-blue Pokémon that looked kinda like a bird, but the ends of it's wings were like hands with five fingers. The Pokémon done one flap of it's wings and blew us to the ground. When the sand settled the Pokémon was gone. "What was that?"
"I think that was that strange Pokémon seem around here. It looked like a Lugia; there ain't many of them around in this here world. I'm hopin' it was one cause I always wanted to see one in person."
"Well it just might have been a Lugia. I saw it fly off through the dust towards the north. Also there is another island with a gym in that direction so we can try to find it when I take you two to the next gym."
"That seems like a great idea Oliver. How could you tell it was a Lugia when no one has a picture or anything?"
"Well I normally don't tell this, but I used to be friends with a baby Lugia when I was a little kid on the Whirl Islands in the Johto region. One day I met Ash Ketchum while he and a some other kid named Richie came looking for a Lugia. I tried to hide the baby Lugia and it worked at first. Then Team Rocket tried to capture the baby Lugia and Ash came and saved it. I introduced Ash to the baby Lugia's mother. The next day Team Rocket was able to steal the baby Lugia and then they used it for bait to capture the mother Lugia. We went inside there one under water lab and saved both of them from Team Rocket. And that's how I know what a Lugia looks like. So SueAnn, I bet your glad we came along, or you wouldn't have been here to see the Lugia."
"Your darn right. Well I bet y'all would like to go searchin' for that there Lugia and get to your next gym battle. Also I have something that will turn your Pokémon back to there normal color. I tried my best not to say anything or laugh during our battle today."
"That would be great. I hope you have enough, cause all of our Pokémon ate the fruit on Pinken Island and got turned pink."
"Don't worry 'bout that, I know that there's enough for all of your Pokémon."
We went back to the gym and SueAnn gave our Pokémon a drink. "Now they should be back to normal in a couple of hours. It'll be monrin' by the latest. It's gettin' late and none of y'all should be out at night. I also run a hotel 'round here and y'all are welcome to stay for free."
"Thanks, the Pokémon Centers around here don't have much room so it'll be nice to have a bigger place to sleep in."
"Now I only have two open rooms so two of ya will have to share a room."
"It's OK, Monica and I can share a room together. We've camped out together all our journey so we like sleeping next to each other."
"Well now that we've got that settled I'll show you to your rooms."
SueAnn took us the hotel, which was very busy. She took Oliver to his room and gave Monica and I the bigger of the two. I took the bed by the window and Monica had on next to mine. It was now nighttime and I could see the lights on the island against the dark ocean. Monica set down next to me and we both watched the last of the people leave the beach and it was empty except for a few wild Pokémon looking for dropped food or items they might use. Monica looked at me and we gave each other a kiss. After that we went to bed and I had a dream that every Pokémon in the world turned pink and I got blamed for it. Then in my dream Monica turned them all back to normal and everyone was no longer mad at me. Because of that dream I never again felt like going back to Pinken Island.
 
Chapter 34, The Unknown Challenge​

The next morning we got up and ate breakfast at the hotel and then we headed north to find Lugia and to our next gym challenge. "I wonder what's in store for our next gym. I know that there's only one gym that does a normal battle and we just came from there and we still have two more gyms to go to."
"Well from our first gym I expect anything to happen."
"Well you two, I've been to the next island we're going to and I happen to know the gym leader. He likes ghost Pokémon so his challenges are mainly meant to scare you and such. His challenges also are meant to test your skill in finding out what's real and what's not. We should reach the island in about five hours."
We needed something to pass the time so we started looking for more Pokémon in the water. After a few minutes a strange thick fog started to come in making it hard to see clearly. "This fog is getting too thick to continue, we're going to have to archer down until it lifts, and that could take a while." Oliver released the anchor so that we wouldn't move and bump into anything. We started sitting thinking of what to do until the fog lifted when we heard a foghorn from another ship. It was getting closer and I started to think it was going to hit us. I looked over the side and could see the outline of a huge ship, but it seemed old and damaged. It got close enough to where I could see that it was in very bad condition. The mass was broken, the sails where all torn up, and there were a lot of holes in it's sides and most likely the dock too. "Oliver, that ship, there's something wrong with it."
"Hmmm, it looks like it was damaged in a storm, but there haven’t been any storms around here since we first came here. There's also some ocean plants growing on it as if it's been underwater for years."
The ship kept getting closer and closer until I thought it was going to hit us, but it stopped just inches from the boat. "What do we do now? With this fog we can't go anywhere and now this huge ship is blocking us."
"Well how about we go on the ship? There isn't anything else to do."
"Well I guess so. We can use those holes to climb up the side."
We climbed onto the ship and started to see where we could go. Some places were blocked by holes in the floor and we had to watch our steps so we wouldn't fall into a hole or weak spot on the floor. The ship smelled like rotting wood and mold. It made me think of a ship that was underwater for years and risen to the surface. After a while we heard a noise and went to check it out. It led us onto a room with two doors; it had to go through one of them. We decided to split up. Oliver went through the door on the left and Monica and I went through the other door. We heard the noise again and it was just ahead of us. Both of use where scared and we squeezed each other’s hands. We went into a door that the sound came from and when we went inside the room was empty except for a chest. We went over to the chest and just as we were about to open it, we heard Oliver scream. We ran to where we heard him and he was tied up on the floor. It looked like it was a String Shot from a Pokémon, but there were none on here that we knew of. Monica had Ninetails burn through the String Shot and we went to look for the Pokémon who tied Oliver up. "I was about to look for you two when all of a sudden I heard a noise behind me. I turned around to see what it was and next thing I knew I was tied up. It looked like a small Pokémon but I couldn't tell. Well we better keep looking for it to find out why it tied me up." we started searching the rest of the ship. After a while we heard another noise. We followed the direction of the noise and it led us to a room. We opened the door and inside was a Nincada. We came up to it closely so we wouldn't scare it and it dropped a piece of paper. I opened it and read it out loud. "If you reading this than you passed the first of two challenges. I'm Robby, the gym leader you were heading to battle. SueAnn called me telling how you wanted to challenge me so I was able to prepare for an excellent challenge for you. As you may have guessed your first challenge was to find me Nincada. You last challenge is to find the key and open the chest with it. You'll have to find the key and chest yourselves. When you bring me the item in the chest I will give both of you your badges. To make sure you don't cheat my Shedinja is watching you along with my Gengar. Now go and find the key to open the chest."
"Well I guess all this was set up by Robby. He probably made his Pokémon raise this sunken ship and also make the fog. Well I don't want to spend another minute in here let's find that key."
Just then a Gengar came in from of me and dropped a piece of paper and then disappeared. The paper read, "You're only allowed to use one Pokémon to help find the key and chest, choose wisely." We decided to use Gardevoir to help find the key since we already found the chest earlier. Gardevoir used its psychic powers to determine what room the key was in. Gardevoir pointed to downstairs and over to the left. Gardevoir headed over to the room with the key and we followed him. We soon reached a big room with a bookshelf. Just then Shedinja appeared in front of us and dropped another piece of paper. This one said, "Now that you’re in the key room, you must find the key yourselves, no Pokémon." Shedinja used its powers to return Gardevoir into its Pokeball. We started by looking on the bookshelf. After a while Monica found something. "Chris, look at this book, its title might help us. It's called 'The Key to the Sunken Ship'" Monica opened the book and it was hollow. Inside was the key. We then found our way back inside the room with the chest. We opened the door and went over to the chest. I put the key into the keyhole and turned it. The lock popped open and I opened the lid. Inside was a small weird device and when I picked it up it started glowing. It projected a hologram of Robby. "So you made it to the chest. There is one more challenge that I didn't tell you about. Once this message is over the ship will start to sink. If you don't get out by the time it sinks you will not receive your badges. There is no need to worry, if you don't make it out in time my Pokémon will see you safely to your boat. Your time starts now." Just as the message ended the ship started to shake. I could feel the ship start to sink and all three of us started running for the boat. As we were running up the stairs to the top level the water was already at our feet. We got to the side and we were level with the boat and we jumped onto the boat just in time. We turned around and watched the ship sink fully back into the ocean. The fog started to lift and in a few minutes it was clear enough to set sail again. It was almost nighttime so we headed out as soon as we could. By the time we reached the island it was nighttime so we decided to rest at the Pokémon Center and go to the gym in the morning. As we got into our rooms I seen Gengar and Shedinja float past the window and to the gym. I got into the bed next to Monica and went to sleep. I was very tired after spending most of the day inside the now sunken ship. Even though I was really tired it took me a while to go to sleep. I held close to Monica and finally fell asleep. The next morning we got up and after getting dressed we skipped breakfast to go to the gym. We met Robby and we introduced ourselves, even though he already knew who we were because of SueAnn. We gave him the device and he told us about the badges. "After seeing how easily you did your task on the ship. I've decided to give you yet another challenge. You must beat my Shedinja in battle. You may only use one Pokémon each and only one of you have to beat it. Now Shedinja, attack!" Shedinja came out of the shadows and I sent out Charizard to battle it. I knew about its ability which makes only super effective attacks hit. I attacked with Flamethrower and it dodged the attack. Shedinja then attacked with Ancient Power and it hit Charizard directly. Since Charizard was both flying and fire it took 4x the normal damage. Charizard was almost knocked out and I had it try Flame Tackle, but it was too weak and the attack failed. Shedinja than attacked with Shadow Ball and Charizard was knocked out. It was now up to Monica. Monica sent out Ninetails and told it to do it's best to hit Shedinja. Ninetails started glowing and then fire spread throughout the field. Shedinja was hit and since it had almost no resistance to attack it was knocked out. "Very good. It seems your Ninetails used an attack called Heat Wave; it's very effective for those hard to hit Pokémon. Here take your badges and be gone. I hear your looking for a Lugia; the best place to look would be the underwater caves in the west shore. I hope you find what your looking for, as everyone knows you can't just capture a Lugia, well maybe a baby one if it's mother isn't around."
 
This chapter is very sad, so to help carry on the emotion, it's extra long.

Chapter 35, A Great Lose, But A New Friend​

We went to the west shore to look for the Lugia. We didn't find anything at first, but after a couple of hours I thought I seen something in the water. "Oliver, did you see that thing out there? It wasn't big, but it didn't look like the other Pokémon around here."
"No I didn't see it, but if we keep looking we might see it again."
I started looking some more and a few minutes later I seen it again, but this time it was closer and I could see that it was about six feet long. "Oliver I seen it again, but this time it was closer."
"Well let's be quiet and it might come to us."
We all became as quiet as possible and than we all seen it this time. It was only about 30 feet from the shore and it was swimming right towards us. It got to the shore and climbed out of the water. It looked just like a Lugia, but it was a lot smaller. "Well all be, it's a baby Lugia, and by the looks of it it's about three years old and is big enough to be on it's own. But its mother could still be around." The baby Lugia came to me and I petted it. It gave a small cry as I did and I knew it liked me. Luckily we put on swimming suits under our clothes and we got our regular cloths off and swam with the young Lugia. After a while we heard a noise like an airplane, but something was different about it. We all got out of the water just as a large flying machine came down, but by the looks of it, it was made to capture large Pokémon. Six Team Ozone members climbed out and the leader of the group spoke. "Hand over that Lugia or else. The boss would just love a rare and powerful flying Pokémon and a Lugia would fit him nicely. I've seen you two before but not you. But nonetheless we are going to capture that Lugia. All right team, attack." The Team Ozone members sent out some Beautifly and tied us up with String Shot before we could even release our Pokémon. They then went for the young Lugia. Just then it's mother came out of the ocean and attacked. "I thought something like this would happen. I full grown Lugia is too powerful to control, but that doesn't mean we can't stop it. Men, arm the machine." The other Team Ozone members got to the machine and started pressing buttons and pulling levers. The machine turned on and an energy field caught Lugia. "Your hurting the mother Lugia, what your doing is just pure evil."
"I know that's why I took this job in the first place. Turn it up to full power."
The Team Ozone members turned the ray up even more and the mother Lugia started to cry out in pain. There was nothing we could do to help and the young Lugia was too scared to do anything. The leader laughed at the mother Lugia's pain and told the others to turn on the other beam and have it at full power. Both beams hit the mother Lugia and because of the force field it wasn't able to move. I could see in its eyes that it was in great pain. I started trying my best to get out of the String Shot but in was no use. Just then the young Lugia came up to me and started biting through the String Shot. It was nearly done when the leader noticed it. "Stop that baby Lugia now." The Team Ozone members sent out some Delibirds and had them use Blizzard attack. The young Lugia was frozen solid in ice, but I was able to break the rest of the was through the String Shot. I sent out Dragonite, but before I could attack it was hit by several Blizzard attacks. Dragonite was knocked out and I sent out Gardevoir. The Team Ozone members then sent out some Murkrow and attacked with Faint Attack and my Gardevoir was knocked out. I sent out Zangoose, but String Shot from the Beautifly tied it up. I went for Charizard's Pokeball, but I also got tied up before I could reach it. I turned over to see how the mother Lugia was doing, but when I looked it wasn't moving at all. I thought it must have blacked out from all the pain and it would be all right. The leader told them to turn the machine off and the mother Lugia fell to the water and wasn't moving at all. "Now to get that young Lugia, everyone, attack with all your Pokémon!" All the Pokémon sent out started attacking the young Lugia, but after seeing what Team Ozone did to its mother in was in a rage. It attacked with Hydro Pump and blasted all the Pokémon back. It then attacked with a thin yellow beam from its mouth and blew up the machine. The leader called for a retreat on his radio and a second flying machine came into view. They all climbed on it as it took off and they escaped. The young Lugia untied us and we went over to check on the mother Lugia. It still wasn't moving and when Oliver took a better look he said it wasn't breathing either. I just couldn't believe it. The mother Lugia couldn't be dead, it just couldn't. Team Ozone was evil, but I never thought them to be evil enough to kill a legendary Pokémon just to try and capture its baby. The young Lugia let out a long mournful cry and about six other full-grown Lugia came out of the sea. They took one look and the dead Lugia and went onto a rage. The young one told them about what Team Ozone did and all six of they took of after Team Ozone. I knew that they would do to them as they did to Lugia's mother. "Oliver, what do we do about the young Lugia? It's mother is gone and it's too young to be on it's own."
"The only thing there is to do is care for it ourselves. We'll have to capture it."
The young Lugia was crying by its mother’s side and I asked it if it wanted to come with us. It didn't respond at all and it just laid there and cried. I threw a Pokeball at it and it didn't fight it at all. I was able to capture it and I would do my best to have it token care of. I knew just the person to send it to. When we got to the Pokémon Center we told the Nurse about what happened and she said she'll call someone to take care of the body and make sure it got a proper burial. We called Max on the phone and told him about it too. He said he'll be Ok with taking care of the young Lugia. We sent it to him and spent the rest of the day helping to bury the Lugia. Word got around about what Team Ozone did and it wasn't soon before everyone was hunting its members down. But only a small number were ever found but the search would continue for years to come. Team Ozone would never be able to show its face again without paying the consequences. A few days later when we started feeling better we set sail to the last island with a gym. This gym leader was said to have very hard challenges and never did the same thing twice in one year. It would be about a three-hour trip there. We started out after lunch and the whole trip neither of us said much, we were all still sad about the Lugia that Team Ozone killed just to try and capture it’s baby. At least the young Lugia was safe with Max and would make great friends with him. It was hard not to be friends with a guy like Max. When we reached the island we started looking for the gym. We soon found it next to a cave; I guessed one of our challenges would be in there. We went into the gym but it was very quiet inside. “Hello. Is the gym open today? We’re looking to challenge the gym leader here.”
“Well your in luck, I was meditating in the other room. Sorry about not coming when you first called, I had a hard time getting up. So you want to challenge my gym? There are a total of three challenges and you have to win all of them if you hope to win a badge today. So who is going to challenge me?”
“Both Monica and I plan to challenge you. When do we start?”
“We can start right now if you want. Follow me to the caves outside for your first challenge.”
We followed him outside to the caves and we stood outside the entrance. “Now your first challenge is to go inside the caves and find the tree deep inside. You are to cut the tree down and bring it outside. It may seem easy, but you only have three hours to do it. It’s now time to begin.” Monica and I went inside the caves and Oliver had to stay outside since he wasn’t competing. It was dark inside so Monica and I sent out our Charizards to light up the cave. We went deeper inside and we soon came to a fork and in the middle was a sign with a riddle. “’If you go the wrong way, you’ll be stuck in here all day. On the right is something else that has a fork. It is also used to make cork. On the left is something that can help us all, it is often used to make a wall.’ The riddle is a little hard. Wood can be used to make walls, but so can stone. I know that cork is made from a certain type of tree. Trees also have a fork in their branches. We need to take a right here.”
“Your good at riddles Monica, maybe you should solve any others we come to.”
We went to the right and walked for about a half hour until we came to a large room. Inside was a tree that was growing on the rocks. “So how are we suppose to cut this down and bring it out?”
“I know, my Zangoose can use its Slash attack to cut it down and our Charizards can carry it out.”
I sent out Zangoose and had it cut the tree down. Then our Charizards picked it up and helped carry it out. We made it back out the caves with a half hour to spare. “Very good you two, your next task is to cut the tree into a boat in only ten minutes, go.” I sent out Zangoose and Monica sent out Ninetails. Ninetails used Heat Wave to burn the outer edges of the tree so it would be easier to cut. Zangoose then started cutting it up into a boat shape. It was done in only seven minutes and we then got ready for our last challenge. The gym leader got out a boat of his own and told us our last challenge. “You now have to beat me in a race. One lap around the island and as you can see I have a motorboat; you have to use Pokémon to power yours. Meet me on the beach in ten minutes for the race, that should give you enough time to change into some swimming suits for the race.” We went into the Pokémon Center and quickly changed into some swimming suits and met the gym leader on the beach. “Are you ready now? Send out the Pokémon to power your boat.” Monica and I knew just the perfect Pokémon for speed, and that was Dragonite. I sent out Dragonite and told it to push the boat from behind and to do one lap around the island. When I looked over I could see the gym leader was a little nervous, he knew about how fast a Dragonite can go. The race started and Dragonite started out so fast that Monica almost fell out. I grabbed her hand just in time and pulled her back onto the boat we had made from the tree. The gym leader’s boat was fast, but not fast enough. We completed out lap in only about two minutes. It took another minute for the gym leader to finish. “That was great work the both of you did. My boat can go 70 kph, but your Dragonite still outdid me greatly. Take your badges and be proud. I see that both of you now have four badges. The Orange League is on Shaimouti Island in two weeks. I hope to see both of you win.” We went to the Pokémon Center and changed back into our normal cloths and watched the sun set on the beach alone. This island was big, but had only about 20 people on it at most. The beach was empty when we went out there and Oliver was helping the Nurse with some Pokémon. The sunset was beautiful and the ocean was nice and clam. Monica and I kissed and at lasted for what seemed like forever. We then started talking. “Chris, what do you think the leader of the Orange League is like? I hear he has never lost and that the Pokémon he has used to be his dad’s and they where already really strong. I hope we can win.”
“Don’t worry Monica, I know we’ll win. We didn’t come all the way out to the Orange Islands to lose.”
“Your right, when we’re together there is nothing we cannot do. I hope that baby Lugia is Ok.”
“I’m sure it is. With Max taking care of it, it will grow up healthy and strong. I wonder if it will allow us to use it in battle. After what Team Ozone did to its mother I’m not sure it will trust humans very mush. But Max is really nice and I’m sure he’ll make it be able to trust humans again.”
“It’s going to be hard for the Lugia by losing its mother so early in life. It may need us to take care of it if it’s going to survive.”
It started to get a little chilly so we went inside the Pokémon Center and ate dinner. After that we went to bed after the long day and had a nice long and needed rest.
 
Chapter 36, The Glowing Legend​

We stayed on the island for a few more days and relaxed and just had fun. We weren't too worried about the Orange League. As long as I was with Monica I felt like there was nothing we couldn't do. We planned to explore the ocean floor today. At around noon we got on a boat with the person who was in charge of the expedition and he gave us some diving suits. We got out to a good part of the ocean and we changed into our diving suits and he showed us how to dive off the boat. We soon were under water and we saw dozens of Pokémon swimming around. We even saw a Gyarados swim by followed by a school of Magikarp. "Now you two, make sure you keep an eye on what your doing. If you go into the territory of dangerous Pokémon you could get hurt. My Swampert will help protect you. Now, you two can go off and explore this area for a little while and report back here in an hour. If you’re not back by then I will send a search team after you to make sure your Ok, now have fun." The guy left Monica and me alone and we explored the area and the Pokémon under the water. We seen some Pokémon we didn't see on the surface like Remoraid and Seaking. We soon found an under water cave and we went in it to explore. It was a little dark, but then some Chinchou and Lanturn followed us in and we followed them inside. The cave had strange crystals forming on the walls. They looked like light blue spikes coming from pitch-black walls. We soon came into a large room that slanted up and soon the water came to an end and there was a place with air. We climbed out of the water and started to walk around. Even though there were no Pokémon to light up the cave, a strange glowing moss was growing on the sides of the cave walls. They gave of a weird romantic glow. Monica's face was light up and she looked very beautiful, even in the diving suit. We kissed for a few minutes before we continued into the cave. All the time we walked through the cave I just wanted to hold her in my arms and give her a long kiss, but we didn't have much time left and we continued through the cave. We soon came to a large room, but it was very dark inside because the glowing moss suddenly stopped growing in this room. We heard some kind of a breathing noise and then we saw the eyes of a Pokémon glowing with anger. We started backing out and it followed us into the lighted part of the caves and we seen in was a Kabutops. Then some more Kabutops and even some Kabuto came out. I now knew why the moss suddenly stopped growing in that room. The Kabuto and Kabutops were eating the moss making them glow if they wanted to. I started thinking of how Max would like to study how the moss made the Pokémon glow at will, but we needed to get out before they attacked. The one guy's Swampert came out from behind us and attacked the Pokémon with Hydro Pump and we ran. We made it to the water and started swimming outside of the cave. The Kabuto and Kabutops were following us and using their strange ability to glow to see us. We made it out of the cave and Swampert used its Muddy Water attack to stop the Pokémon for a while. We made it back to the boat just as the Pokémon found there way out of the murky water and they chased us. We climbed onto the boat just in time. We could see there glowing bodies under water circling the boat as we told the guy about what happened. He took us back to the island and we called Max and told him about the strange glowing effect the moss had on the Pokémon that ate it. He said he'll soon come out and look at them with us. We rested for the rest of the day. A few days later, only three days until the Orange League, Max showed up with Jirachi. "Max, why did you bring Jirachi along with us?"
"Jirachi can help protect us from the Pokémon that live in the cave. That way we can study them without risking a battle."
"That's good, if we had to battle them to get back out it might cause a cave in. Well let's go, I remember how we got there so we won't have to look for it again."
We got on Oliver's boat and he took us to the same spot we were at lest time and Monica, Max and I changed into some diving suits and Oliver stayed behind to watch the boat. We all climbed into the water and Jirachi covered itself with a clear bubble of air so it wouldn't get wet. I took them to the cave and we went inside. Jirachi used its powers to create some light until we got to the glowing moss. We soon reached the spot where the water ended and we climbed out of the water. Max was a little behind because he was studying a crystal in the water. I gave Monica a quick kiss before Max climbed out of the water. Jirachi floated out of the water and took the lead incase the Pokémon suddenly started to attack. We soon came to the room than they stayed in and before they could attack us Jirachi put them to sleep with a Hypnosis attack. Even while they slept there bodies gave off a small glow. Max took out weird device and put it on one of the Pokémon. "What this does it tell me what is in the food the Pokémon has been eating. All I have to do is take it back to my lab and I can find out exactly why the moss they eat makes them glow. We better go now before they wake up." We started our way out of the cave when a Kabutops that was hiding attacked us. This one was different then the rest. The others were a brownish color and glew, but this one didn't glow and was a golden color. Max sent Jirachi for the attack and Jirachi used Psychic. The golden Kabutops was hit, but then attacked with a Slash attack. Jirachi didn't seem to take any damage and it attacked with Double Edge. The golden Kabutops was knocked out and Max through a Pokeball at it and captured it. "I didn't really want to disturb the Pokémon here, but this one attacked us and wanted to battle. Since this one is a different color then normal like some Pokémon can sometimes be, I decided to capture it for further study. Come on, we better go before the others wake up." We left the cave and Oliver took us back to the Pokémon Center. We rested for the rest of the day. The next day after we got up we asked Max if he could help us warm up for the Orange League because we wouldn't have time tomorrow. He said he'd help us with a few practice battles and we got ready to battle after lunch. He would use three Pokémon for each of us and Monica was to battle first.
 
Chapter 37, Maxing Out​

Monica sent out Beautifly and Max sent out Gardevoir. Gardevoir attacked with Psybeam, but Beautifly dodged it by flying around it. Beautifly than used tackle and knocked Gardevoir down. “Monica, you’re a lot more powerful then when we battled, I guess I’ll have to up it a notch if I’m even to be a challenge to you. Gardevoir, hold your ground until the time is right.” Monica, thinking this would be a good time to increase defensive power, had Beautifly use String Shot to tie Gardevoir up. “Alright, use Psychic to send the attack right back at Beautifly.” Gardevoir used Psychic and the String Shot turned around in mid air, and wrapped Beautifly up. Beautifly, having its wings tied up, fell to the ground. “Beautifly, return. That was good, having my own attack make my Pokémon unable to move. Well, you’ll regret having my return my Beautifly. Go Metagross!”
“So, psychic type Vs psychic type. This will be a fun battle, even though you have the upper hand. Since Metagross is both steel and psychic type I bet it wont even feel my Gardevoir’s psychic attacks. But I never said I was going to use psychic attacks. My Gardevoir, and only mine, can use attacks like Ice Punch, Fire Punch and Focus Punch. Let’s see what you got, I bet this will be an awesome match.”
Monica had Metagross use Earthquake, but Gardevoir used its psychic powers to float up into the air making the attack miss. Gardevoir then attacked with Fire Punch. Metagross, being bigger then Gardevoir, was able to use one of its four arms to knock Gardevoir to the ground before the attack could hit. “Well, it looks like your Gardevoir is too small to stand up to my Metagross, do you think you should choose another Pokémon?”
“I never give up in battle, don’t worry, I’ll find a way to get the upper hand again, just let me think for a few seconds.”
Max had Gardevoir dodge attacks with Double Team until he came up with an idea. “Gardevoir, use your Focus Punch on the ground to dig a hole, then come up from the ground and attack with Fire Punch.”
Gardevoir did just that and disappeared underground. It soon came back up underneath Metagross and hit it hard with a Fire Punch attack. Metagross took heavy damage, but was still strong. When Gardevoir tried the same thing again, Monica had Metagross use Earthquake, and since Gardevoir was underground, it took twice as much damage. Gardevoir was knocked out and Max chose his second Pokémon.
Max sent out a Sceptile and had it attack with Faint Attack. It was strong enough to knock Metagross out and Monica replaced it with Gyarados. “Now why would you send out a water Pokémon to battle a grass type?”
“My Gyarados knows more then just water attacks, as you will soon see. Gyarados, use Fire Blast.”
The attack hit before Sceptile could dodge and it was knocked out in one hit. Max was down to his last Pokémon in his battle with Monica. He sent out Claydol, not a wise choice, as it may seem. “First you tell me it wasn’t wise to have a water type go up against a grass type, and now you choose a ground type to battle a powerful water type. What are you up to?”
“You will see as soon as you attack. Claydol has the best defensive moves of all my Pokémon.”
Monica had Gyarados attack with Hyper Beam, but Claydol countered that attack with Psychic and sent it right back at Gyarados. Gyarados was able to dodge that attack. “Gyarados, I have an idea. Us Earthquake to make the ground Claydol is standing on to sink into the ground.” Gyarados did that and Claydol was not trapped in the hole.
Claydol started to try and float out with its psychic powers. “Just as I planned. As Claydol is floating out of the hole, it won’t be able to us its powers to also block attacks. Gyarados, use Hydro Pump.” Gyarados used Hydro Pump and Claydol was hit with a powerful blast of water, knocking it out.
“That was a good battle Monica, you’ve become even better then when we last battled. At first, I didn’t know who would win, but you pulled off a nice tactical strategy and made my Claydol defenseless. I won’t be surprised if you become the best trainer in the world. Well Chris, are you ready to battle me now?”
“I’m ready, I think I can win since I know I’m almost as strong as Monica.”
“You must still be a little discouraged from the Indigo League. Don’t be too down on yourself, you might have become stronger then Monica sine then, it was four months ago that it happened.”
“You’re right. Well, lets get started with our battle.”
I sent out Jolteon and Max sent out a Metagross. I attacked with Pin Missile and Metagross dodged and used Meteor Mash. Jolteon dodged and attacked with Thunder. This time Metagross was hit, but it was still powerful. Metagross attacked with Earthquake and Jolteon was knocked out.
I sent out Charizard and had it attack with Over Heat. It hit Metagross and it was knocked out. Max then sent out a Munchlax. “I caught this Pokémon only a few days ago. I remembered how I liked that one Munchlax back when I met Deoxys, so I decided to capture it. It will be good against your Charizard because its thick layer of fat protects it against fire attacks.”
I had Charizard attack with Slash, but Munchlax dodged the attack and attacked with a Hyper Beam. Charizard was hit in the face, but it was still able to battle. I had Charizard use Wing Attack and it hit Munchlax. Munchlax was thrown through the air and when it landed on the ground it attacked with another Hyper Beam. This time Charizard dodged the attack and I had it use Earthquake. Munchlax was knocked out and Max was down to his last Pokémon. He sent out Flygon as his last Pokémon. Flygon attacked with Rock Tomb and it hit Charizard knocking it out. I was down to my last Pokémon, but I knew which one to chose to win the battle.
I sent out Dragonite, and knowing that Flygon is both dragon and ground type, it no longer has a resistance to water and grass attacked. I attacked with Hydro Pump, but Flygon dodged and countered with Dragon Breath. Dragonite was hit, but didn’t take too much damage. I attacked with Blizzard and Flygon was hit and greatly weakened. Flygon attacked with Hyper Beam and hit Dragonite. Dragonite took some damage, but had enough energy for one last attack. I had Dragonite attack with Dragon Claw and it hit Flygon knocking it out.
“Good battle Chris, I don’t think either of you will have too much of a problem with Démon. Well, you still have three weeks to train. Oh, by the way, I found out that the golden Kabutops I caught a few weeks ago isn’t that color because of the glowing moss, it’s color difference is caused by the same chemical difference in the other odd colored Pokémon. Monica, did you ever notice how your Salamence seems to have a greenish skin color?”
“I noticed its skin was a little different when it first hatched, but I just though I was seeing things. Maybe my Salamence is one of those odd colored Pokémon. Here, take a look at it.”
Monica sent out her Salamence, and I noticed that its skin was green instead of blue. I don’t know why I didn’t notice it before. “You see Monica, if you look closely you’ll see that its skin is green instead of blue. Probable the reason no one noticed it before is because most of your battles with it have been inside, but outside with the light of the sun it’s easier to notice how its skin is different.” Monica returned her Salamence after Max was done studying it and we all went inside of the Pokémon Center to rest for the day.
The next day, we said goodbye to Max as he left back to Viridian City and we met up with Oliver and he took us to Shaimouti Island to get ready for our battle with Démon in three weeks.
We came to the Pokémon Center and registered for our battles. “Now that you’re registered. Chris, you will battle Démon on the first day, and Monica, you will battle on the third day.”
“Why do we battle on different days?”
“Démon doesn’t want his Pokémon to be weak when we battles other trainers so he only does two battles a day. It wouldn’t be fair if a trainer battled Démon while his Pokémon were weak.”
We left the Pokémon Center and went to find something to do for the three weeks until it was time to battle Démon. We found some trainers and trainer with them and learned a few tricks, but we taught a lot of trainers a few tricks of our own.
 
Sorry about now finishing this fan fic. I'm posting to let everyone know I'm starting a new one called "A Pokemon Story 2" and it will be in a Pokemon's point of view. That is all for now.
