Action Ash

While watching today's episode of pokemon (Love, Pokemon Style) it occured to me that Ash really seems to be quite the action hero. I remember past episodes where Ash has done some impressive stuff. The whole Bruno training thing, some times he's slid down really steep hills. And today he caught a girl rolling down the side of a steep hill, rolling backwards several times til he hit a rock and just shrugged it off. Anybody else know any macho Ash hero boy moments where he showed imrpessive physical prowess?

Jumping into that chute-thing in Mewtwo Strikes Back.

Carrying Mewtwo and throwing him into the lake in Mewtwo Returns.

Yeah, Ash has his stupid moments but I have always thought of him as a hero for all the great things he has done. Hmm...heroic things he has done...how about standing in between Mewtwo and Mew when they were fighting, when he was trying to save Celebi and he and Sammy were getting shocked trying to get to it, and didn't he jump on top of that TR guy to try to get the dark ball with Celebi in it?

I really wouldn't call Ash macho... Hero? Yes.

He is the Chosen One. I know that doesn't apply to the Japanese version, but I really does describe Ash. He has been chosen to save the world time after time. He has proven himself to be a true hero... but not macho.

I prefer to think of him as Tabloid Boy, though. His life is a walking tabloid. He was even featured in a tabloid before (when he awakened the Aerodactyl, Todd took a picture of him and it ended up in a tabloid newspaper). How many people can say they have talked to aliens, walked around in a three year old's subconcious, and ended the destruction of the world?

As far as I know, the only Gutsy thing he ever did was get shot my Mewtwo and Mew's Psybeam attacks in the first movie. then he turned to stone.

I wish he stayed that way though...

don't we all

Ash is supposed to be an 'everyman' type character, IMHO...someone who certainly makes mistakes, but more importantly, _learns_ from them.

As in many 'quest' type stories, the journey is as important as, if not more so, than the destination. Ash is not 'just' training his Pokémon, but also HIMSELF...so, in a typically 'eastern' ;) philosophical view (think of the Zen 'being/not being paradox)...Ash is both a hero, and everyman. Just as each of us are, too...:)

Dude, Gary is so much more action oriented. He's only 10 and he can drive a car. That is pimp.
o_O;; why does everyone say that??
go watch an episode where he's in the car.. HE'S NOT DRIVING IT.. there's always some unknown person driving the car for him. (at least, every time i remember)

They let 10-year-olds do battle with insanely powerful monsters, and you're arguing about whether one of the characters can drive? Geez. ;)

:( like a rock, huh?
But what if someone THREW the ROCK?!?!

........you could give someone a very; uhhh, bad injury,

You know wut i mean, vern?

(Rambles on & on, non-stopping.....)

but anyhoo, if someone threw the rock & it hit something, PREPARE FOR TROUBLE!

Can we get the thread back on topic, please? If the thread continues in this vein, it's going to be locked as SPAM; thank you for your cooperation.

Ok. But why has Ash "Ketchup" Gotta be the "Chosen One"?

.......& besides, he's most certainly NOT CATCHING THEM ALL!!!! You never see him catch pokemon like he's supposed to! He tried to catch Fearow but did'nt,
& why did'nt he try 1 more time?

.....& why does the pokeballs in the games break when you don't catch a pokemon?

On tv they don't.........

So the sayings right : Don't belive everything that you see on TV!!!!!!!! :)

lol

Anyway, getting it back on topic, at one point in Pokemon 2000 (after Misty rescues him from drowning) he fights against his physical injuries and refuses to let Misty and Tracy help him up to the top of Shamouti Shrine.
