Agustin T16 report!

I never ever had as much fun as I had those few days at worlds

It was amazing, thanx to everyone!

So Ive been testing gardy for quite a while.
Some friends were leaning towards leaf mag, and since it was a 40 minutes round it SEEMED to be the play.
I just decide not to switch decks one day before worlds and go with the deck that I LOVE and know how to play against every match up.

Round 1: Chad (Leaf/mag)

I havent seen chad around the whole weekend and i was just asking for him like 20 minutes before worlds start. It was so dumb we got paired R1 but bleh, whatever.

We both get decent starts. I get a T3 plox and try not to break it. It gets down to 1 - 3 and i cant seem to draw my last prize for several turns but I eventually win.

1-0

Round 2: Alex (empoleon)

I get an awesome start against him, though i miss my rosseanes/fighting energy/DRE so I cant sonic blade his first empoleon. I have to flip 4 prizes and that really hurt mid - late game.
He spreads the damage quite well, it comes down to 1 - 1 but he already had the game a long time ago.
Couldnt do anything against a 47 times world champion lol gg man

1-1

Round 3: Christian Ortiz (empoleon)

He goes first, i have nothing so i attach call to baltoy and wager. I win and call. He seemed not to draw any supporters so my quick gallade knocked all of his basics.
He called the judge several times… He tried to get advantage when I was using psychic cut. I didn’t announce how many prizes I was flipping before flipping them so TECHNICALLY my gallade was supposed to deal 60 damage.
At the end of the game he apologized for doing that kind of stuff.

2-1

Round 4: David from México (mirror)
FINALLY! a mirror match. This is the game ive tested the MOST.
We both set up, fight back and forth and I eventually win

3 - 1

Round 5: a French guy (sorry i cant remember your name, mirror match)
Another mirror match, unlike the previous one, he never sets up.

4 - 1

Round 6: Allan Apter from Brazil (mirror againn ;D)
Im confident in every mirror I play but I dont get a good start, I cant remember the basic that I opened with, I attached and passed. On his turn, he proceeds to candy claydol, cosmic power candy gardevoir (benched) attach a psy to his benched gardy and passes. So he has 2 - 3 cards in hand.
I had nothing but basics, rosseanes, and energies in hand. I rosseane for jirachi ex and lock him for several turns while I am setting up. He ko's me with gardevoir and I am able to build my own gardy to answer and that was pretty much gg.

At one time during the match, I telepass for steves with a 6 card hand but just a second before I draw my cards, a judge stops me and says “YOU CANT DO THAT” like yelling at me thinking I was doing that in porpoise I believe. So I say, its ok no problem ill go back, play a card and use steve. It happened to be that I couldn’t either :p cuz I have already announced Telepass. So, he yelled at me again that I couldn’t.
Right there, Allan told me it was ok if I wanted to lay something down and use stevens but he said that in Portuguese so the judge wont understand.
In this instance, Allan's sportsmanship impressed me more than almost any other player. Its nice to meet people that dont wanna get advantages over missplays. People like him make this game a lot more fun than it is.
In the end, I decided not to go back. I proceeded like the judge told me, the way it had to be.

Really nice game Allan ! It was nice to get to know you a lil better

5 - 1

Round 7: Matthew koo (mirror)
Really nice game. We both set up, but he played 2 pluspowers that REALLY surprised me. Although Yacine warned me about him playing one plus, Matthew hit them in really key times. He gets some surprise ko's I wasnt expecting for the win.

5-2

I make it on the 16th seed!!

Top 32 against Ian Brander (Scizor / Toxicroack/4cess/4beach)

Ian showed the best sportsmanship I have ever seen in a player.
I read your report a few minutes ago. I have to confess that I was so damn nervous before the match, but as soon as we got start chatting and joking with Esa and Chuck all that nervousness was gone.
Both of our games were EXTREMELY close and amazing.
Pachirisu really helped me out in this game. Although I knew it was going to be a hard match up cuz I only played 1 lake and 1 storm, beign able to smash shot cessations away and use powers whenever I needed, was key.
By far these were my two best games I played the whole weekend.
I may have won both games, but it could have gone either way
Awesome player, awesome deck.
Nice to meet you Ian!

Top 16 against Esa Juntunen (Glaceon lv x / Absol Sw / 4 cess / 4 beach)

1st game I get nothing, he sweeps
2nd game he gets nothing and a single gallade went through his all 6 pokemon.
3rd game he decides to start, absol, baleful wind..... Discards bebe's and claydol from hand =/
I had candy, gardevoir and topdecked a baltoy from deck.
Awesome list Esa, congrats on your top 8!

You showed good sportmanship and played very well until very important T16.
You really deserved it. Nothing more to say.

Congratulation to you and to all your Argentina mates!

You escaped! Hahaha.

I'm very, very, very proud of you. I had a lot of fun helping you playtest for top cut- aka eat pizza and get lost driving around Orlando eating churros. I just hope we can coordinate our plans better so we can party before or after worlds. And I definitely want to come down to see you some time. Say hi to Diego and Maia for me. I miss you guys already =*(

-Your master,
Ryan

I think my match with you was the most relaxed I had all day due to your personality so I thank you for that. I played 3 PlusPowers and a would-be strength charm but i decided to change it to a crystal shard last minute. This makes it so that I always have a pluspower in hand =). Good match and it sucks I didn't get to talk with you after your top 16 match.. nice report though =)
