493 Pokemon in 72hrs

Last year (December 19-22, 2008) The Speed Gamers tried to catch 492 in 72hrs while raising money for ACT Today (Autism Care and Treatment).
Sadly to say they failed to meet the time of 72hrs, but finished shortly after.​



Pokémon Versions Used: Fire Red, Leaf Green, Ruby, Sapphire, Diamond, Pearl; Pokémon: Gale of Darkness,
Pokémon Colosseum + North American and Japanese Bonus Discs, Pokémon Ranger: Shadow of Almia, My Pokémon Ranch.

Well this year with 1 extra Pokemon added on they shall try again.
The games used will be a little different from last years list, but will have the new Soul Silver.

Sponsored by: Toby Keith (Country music singer-songwriter, record producer and actor)
Events: During the marathon they will have multiple contests to win various prizes.

Who are The Speed Gamers:
TheSpeedGamers have been streaming video game marathons for over a year to raise money for various charities.
In total they have raised over $98,000 dollars and played 14 marathons.
They have raised over $50,000 in their week long Final Fantasy Marathon, and have made multiple news appearances. This upcoming marathon will be for Ally's House. This charity's is sponsored by Toby Keith (Country music singer-songwriter, record producer and actor), and their mission is to "to help Oklahoma kids with cancer and their families. Donations will be used to help these families through this difficult journey."

I think somebody calculated it at over 550 with all the different Forms and the UnownDex. That would be impressive!
 
Cheers to Toby and the Gamers. As an Oklahoma player i commend this effort to raise money and awareness for such a worthy cause. It also brings to light the true spirit of games which is often lost in the "new frontier" of competitive gaming--HAVING FUN!!!! Kudos to the event organizers for making such a creative fundraiser possible.
