Cradily would be so much fun in a different format.

I really like the trainers, and Haxorus is almost a Machamp SF.

Jirachi as a 90 HP EX annoys me.

most noteworthy cards imo

virizion ex - beast
genesect ex - already knew it was good
haxorus - anti meta
sigliyph - 4 tools thats fun
jirachi ex - expensive searcher but may be worth it
scoop up cyclone - decent ace spec
catlin - not a bad addition to the current supporters

kinda confused why eggecute is a a shiny though....

I'm curious. Which would you say is better T1 accel for Virizion EX? Pokedex/Ether or Plasma Badge/Colress Machine? I'm quite partial to the latter.

Cradily is actually fine for this format. Give that its technically a stage 1. it really opens up comobs like Empo/Dusknoir, Flygon/Dusknoir, and it can make stage 2s like Magnezone and Archeops(i just said a fully evolved fossil is a stage 1 and then say this? guuuh) reaaally deadly. The new fossil ability + Catlynn is also a very nice boost to its playability.

Iris and Cat are cool. Dat Iris FA so pretty. Also, shiny Eggs. Win button.

Scoop Up Cyclone does not look like a Pokemon card. That is the most yugioh thing ive ever seen in this game :I Please burn on sight.

Oh, and Sigilyph's ability is insane. It also makes no sense on the Pokemon. Where would you put 4 helmets on a Sigilyph?

hmm new sigilyph with a silver bangles, a silver mirror, an eviolite or 2 strikes me as pretty powerful doing 100 to ex for 3 (70 otherwise), protection from plasma poke and 20-40 reduction in dam

also finally an awesome haxorus auto ko plasma is very nice but its first attack can get powerful very fast as well, maybe combine it with shift gear klinklang (if its still around when we get this card) for the max potion option.

also wonder if the shiny exeggcute/rare candy might be easter related

archeops doesnt work with cradily because its a stage 1 pokemon.

So, when I first went over all the cards in this set, I got super excited. Then I went over the set 2 or 3 more times, I'm while I still like the set, it's not as good as my gut feeling would have told me it was. Here are cards I find interesting (whether they are really playable or not):

Masquerain: This card is pretty nifty. Being able to switch tools all the time is pretty good. Since it's a Stage 1 though, I don't think it's playable. Plus, whether Catcher is around or not, at very least it's an easy prize for Genesect EX, so that doesn't help it either.

Cradily: This card would be AMAZING if it weren't evolved from a fossil. The first attack, when paired with Virizion EX, is just insane. You could swarm Stage 2s with this fairly easily if you could get it out by T2. Sadly, with the fossil mechanics (even taking into account the really nice new fossil basics that go to the bottom of the deck when in the discard), I don't see this working.

Tropius: While I don't think it'll be played much, in Genesect EX, this card could be a nice 1 of consistency tech.

Virizion EX: This card is extremely good when paired with Genesect EX. It's ability is amazing; with Hypnotoxic Laser running rampant, this essentially completely ruins that strategy. And as an energy accelerator for Genesect EX this is fantastic as well. I would say that Plasma Badge + Colress Machine would be the right move to get Virizion going right away. Plus, 50 damage is not bad at all. You can drop 50 on an EX, and with the 20 to the bench from Genesect you could make good use of that 50. It's also nice with Deoxys EX + Plasma Badge.

Genesect EX: We all knew this card was interesting, but what it needed was energy accel. And with Virizion, it has that now! Plus it can't be hit by Hypnotoxic! This card will be incredible, and the Ace Specs for it just make it that much better. I think Keldeo is dead now.

Drifblim: This card seems like it'd be very good against Plasma decks in general. Most likely it'd be able to attack for free. 70 for 0 plus energy discard is pretty good. Free retreat is fantastic as well. It being a Stage 1 hurts it, but it is potentially playable.

Uxie, Mesprit, Azelf: I am horribly, horribly disappointed in these cards. They had a history of being very good, but these ones are just bad. Mesprit's ability would be amazing. . . but you have to have 2 other useless cards on your bench, meaning 3 bench spots are taken up by bad cards. The only reason abilities like that worked well it the past was because the other Pokemon in the trio were good, but when 2 of them are awful, it just doesn't work well.

Sigilyph: This is a pretty funny card, although I'm not sure it'll be great. Yeah, 4 tools is awesome, but it doesn't do all that much damage or have much hp. I mean, yeah, you could drop Silver Bangle, Eviolite, Giant Cape, and something else on it, sure, but still I'm not sure it's that great.

Golurk: Ok, it's not a good card, but an attack called Iron Justice Fist? I'm playing this at some point just so I can yell that. Over and over again.

Sawk: This card is just dumb. 50 to Plasma pokemon for 1 colorless energy? This is a very good tech against Thundurus EX. Just do 100 T1 and KO it on T1, all with a non-EX. With all the other EX/Plasma hate in this set, this card seems to take it over the top to being just silly. I'm not sure Thundurus/Deoxys will continue to be good after Worlds.

Jirachi EX: When I first read the ability, I was SURE this was an auto-include in every deck. Turning any Pokemon search card into a Supporter? That's insane! Then I realized it has 90 HP, and I was very disappointed. I can see this being played as a 1 of tech in some decks IF Catcher rotates. If Catcher sticks around, you simply can't play this card.

Dialga EX: I feel like this card would be fantastic if DCE was sticking around. But since I feel like DCE will probably rotates, that makes it much worse. Still, 90 plus a discard of 1 or 2 per turn seems good. Stack it with Deoxys EX to do more damage and you've got yourself a pretty solid card. It's first attack is good too, but the energy requirements are awkward.

Palkia EX: This card is interesting but I don't think you could focus a deck on it. It's first attack is alright, but it's second attack is fantastic if you have 2 Plasma energy on him. But the energy requirements are awkward since they aren't on the same Blend. Maybe you could Scramble Switch to it, but still, I'm not sure we'll see it around much.

Haxorus: Machamp SF for Plasma? Pretty great, but it's energy requirements are odd, and it's a Stage 2. It might work, but I have my doubts.

Silver Bangle: This card is incredible. It turns Weavile from Plasma Freeze into a stupid powerful cards. Using the Exeggute combo, you can do 150 to an EX easily. Just 1 extra Pokemon and you OHKO EXs. That's crazy.

Silver Mirror: This could be a very good card against Thundurus/Deoxys and Genesect EX. The problem is that the only really good non-EX deck is Weavile, and you might be better off running Silver Bangle in that deck.

Reversal Trigger: I don't know why you wouldn't run this in a Plasma deck. It's, quite simply, amazing. You can use Laser to get around it, but with Virizion EX around I'm not sure that'll work very often.

Iris: This could be a nice one-of tech, but I see it being played about as much as Black Belt, which saw very little play.

Caitlin: This is a fantastic card that will replace Cheren/Bianca is most decks.

Scoop Up Cyclone: A SSU without a flip? Yes please. Sadly, there are so many good Ace Specs this one may not see much play.

G-Scope & G-Booster: Amazing cards for Genesect EX. I like G-Booster the most.

Shiny Eggs: Yes please!

Jirachi EX might be good

The 90 HP (as opposed to 110) on Jirachi EX is almost a bonus since it can be searched by level ball. Jirachi EX alongside Ghetsis might just work as long as your opponent doesn't have a Jirachi EX of there own.

I also think a Virizion EX/Genesect EX deck has a lot of potential. Considering Plasma Badge can be put on Virizion so it can get Plasma Energy's through Colress Machine as well as getting extra damage with Deoxys EX! A T1 60, or 70 damage with energy accelerating Genesect EX sounds good to me!

hmmm.... I definetly want to play Jirachi since it is one of my favorite Pokemon, but I can't think of what to play it with. Maybe Magnezone PLS? I dunno. 90HP is REALLY bad, and it looks like Catcher will be around because of the Blastoise theme deck. Now I'm starting to think Dark Rush will be rotated since we now have Rare Candy and Ultra Ball and Catcher (unless they rotate the deck or something, but then you can't use Kyurem EX) However, the EXs beyond DEX are not nearly as powerful as Mewtwo and Darkrai. so maybe Jirachi will see some play in combination with Scoop Up Cyclone. Maybe as a 1-2 of in a deck.

But really, this set is just to stop the onslaught that is Thundurus/Deoxys/Kyurem.

Also, notice how attacks do way less damage than before. I think this is an attempt to slow down the format and also to make HTL less OP.

Also, thinking about building a Klinklang style Hydreigon deck with sc immunity thanks to Virizion.

Looking at the hyped EX's in this new set, somewhere in the back of my mind I can't help but think Victini EX (and possibly but not likely it's respective ACE SPEC tool) could be seeing more play. I like how this set is trying to make non-EX cards more competitive but only time will tell.

Although, I freaking love Virizion EX for stopping Hypnotoxic and finally giving :grass: Pokemon in the TCG their fighting chance.

Why do the next two sets require money to be thrown at? Was glad I had a small break with Dragons and Boundries (just traded for the few things needed), but the next two seem to have so much, a box is the only way....

Time to ask for more hours over the summer....

There are a couple of cards that are labeled as Basic Pokemon which should be Stage 1.

Such as:

Duosion
Machoke
Abonasnow

Chatot should be a Team Plasma card
