Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Anatomy of a Fake Pokémon Card

I think some fake cards are being sold on ebay as Secret Wonders Boxes. There are 30 or 31 cards not in a booster pack. Some sellers have stated they are made in China. I don't know for sure but it sure looks suspecious to me.

Anything made is China is definately fake unless they are talking about old WotC cards that were made for the Chinese market and that were in Chinese.

I got a bunch of fake Boosters from my friend, and in them I found that:

-it is EXTREMELY easy to find rares.

-cards are from different sets, e.g. I found a Kabutops PK in a MT Booster, and a Infernape Lv.X in a MT Booster as well.

-there was generly only one common/uncommon card in a pack. These were flipped over, so it's Pokemon sign was facing the other cards.

I just ordered a bunch of 30-card packages from ebay and they arrived today. To my dismay, I discovered they were all fakes! Thanks to this thread (which I was ironically reading yesterday) and the cheap look/feel of the cards, I was immediately wise to them not being genuine. Thankfully, I didn't pay much for them. Also, the 30-card boxes (which I'm unsure whether or not they are legit anyway) were not sealed in any way, making it easy for someone to drop in fakes and pass them off as genuine.

I saw exactly what was described by UFtroll and Arceus999 above.

Is there any way to report Fake Card sellers to anyone? Rather than creat a Negative Rating, I would rather just have someone bust them.

Email Ebay. If that doesn't work, I'd try the state or US government, especially for purchases made across state borders (which is most Ebay sales).

fake cards are a pian what ever you do do not go buy cards in these contrys my friend gave me all the info

1: sir lanka some of there cards come in 12 packs and another thing to watch out for is the type if you buy a crsytal gaurdin deck 10 of the cards will be holon

2 inda total fakes some even have weird wirting

I still have a fake Poliwrath "foil" from Base Set when someone gave it to me instead of throwing it out. It's kinda cool to just hold onto them, so long as you're not paying for them or playing with them.

What is the "real" marking on a sealed box of boosters made by WoTC? Will it normally have the Wizards stamp on it? (wanting confirmation on this)

Yeah, the real shrink wraps for the WotC boxes features the WotC logo while Nintendo ones feature the Poke Ball logo with the word "Pokemon" on top.

There is some Fakes I have get:
Pokomon booster, serie was Emerald --> I get Crobat ex DX (fake)
lots of boosters from Thailand, all were fake... All holos were like that Machamp

The problem of fakes is getting really bad in the LA area.

I mainly look at the bloated energy symbols, especially the stars on the card - they are such a telltale signs. Look at any card above and you will see that the five points of the star on the colorless energy are well within the circle for a real card but are either shifted or enlarged for the fake ones. :colorless

My daughter got an EyeClops microscope for Christmas and one of the things we looked at was the edge of the real and fake card. Well, I can tell you that both of them are made by gluing two layers (some of the older guides on spotting fakes suggest that the fake ones are a single layer cards).

Another thing that I have seen is the frayed edge. If the fake card has been played or has been handled for any length of time, you will see clear fraying on the edges - little white marks on the edge give it away.

As for color difference in the back, if you put the fake card in a real deck and shuffle it a bit, the fake one stands out like a sore thumb.
Hey I know. Like, My friends give me alot of fake pokemon. Like, in my deck, I was GOING to use a Regirock, but the back of the card is ALOT lighter than regular cards, and so does stand out. This is a very helpful guide, though. Thanks.

During a Deck Check for the States in RI i found a fake card, a Glacia's stadium. The card generally was an easy tell the Printing mostly seemed off, the Back was the dead give away, i wouldn't have noticed it with out this article Thanks! o and they started adding the ' over the e's now.

Really?
That doesn't sound right. Glacia's Stadium is from PK, not a new set.
I know they were still leaving it off on DP fakes.

I'm will try and scan it after MA States tonight, if i had forethought i could have sent it with Tom Shea but i forgot you where on hand for NY states. GL and thank you once again for the article

They admit in the auction that it's a fake.
Not sure why you need me to confirm it, but i will.
If you see a sealed box and there isn't the Pokeball logo on the shrinkwrap, it's fake.
The packs are harder to tell. As you can see, they are not centered properly, but to be honest, I've seen real packs that way too.
