Gyarados

I'll save the pre-tourney lead up and go straight to the event. Decided to go with gyarados over luxchomp at the event and turned in my list and re-sleeve thanks to Jeremy with a set of sleeves (thanks man, truly appreciate how much you guys contribute to the game and players in need, it means a lot!).

Round 1: Lady from TX - Machamp/Donphan
She was here to support her grandson, which was cool seeing them at an OK event! Needless to say, Gyarados is a rough matchup for Machamp.

1-0

Round 2: Guy from Michael's crew - Flygon/Nidoqueen
He starts out dual nidoran (f) to my sableye and starts to set up on his first turn, dropping both uxies to get up a nidoqueen. next turn he KO's my sableye, but I have a gyarados hitting for 60 and judge him. He dead draws for a while and I continue to set up/take prizes for a couple turns till he gets up a Flygon and sand wall/ko's me. I recover that turn thanks to another BTS, warp out of the sand wall and take another prize. He sand walls again and I continue to Tail Revenge, putting him 20 away from KO. He KO's me, I KO him with uxie after rebenching magikarp. Once I evolve again, the game goes downhill for him. I ko his other flygon and he concedes.

2-0

Round 3: Roy Jr. - LuxChomp
He starts off strong trading a couple prizes, but he ends up Portraiting the judge (only supporter) that was in my hand after using sp radar for his garch x and doesn't hit it in the Judge. I hit a bebe's search in mine and built my hand back up fast, and it definitely gave me the edge for the rest of the match. Interesting list, I like the tech  .

3-0

Round 4: Seth - Los Gatos
He Judges/Let Looses SEVERAL times this match, making it difficult to get out my Dialga G Lv. X. Once he finally judges me into it, I have to leave it active, getting hit by Delcatty a few turns till I hit a warp energy thanks to his next Judge. After that, it's tough for him to attack since G'dos OHKO's all his stuff. he ends up misplaying with his energy (attacking without correct energy), but I didn't catch it. I ended up taking the game the next turn anyway.

4-0

Round 5: Magikurt (leanpocketz) - Gyarados
I continually smack his Gyarados' to 10 HP from being KO'd (in order to flash bite around the Rescue Energy the next turn) only for him to SSU three times, taking a 3 prize lead while I denied my own prizes trying to pull the trick off. I was pretty sure this was game, seeing as I whiffed 4 SSU (3, and Junk Armed one back). Finally, I hit him for the 10 from KO, and he whiffs his 5th SSU (prev 4 were heads), and warps back to the bench and impersonates a volkners. During my next turn, I flash bite the g'dos for two prizes, Junk Arm my VS seeker, Judge him, and take another prize, bringing it to 1-1. he can't recover the G'dos and concedes.

5-0

Top 4: Joel - Gengar/Vileplume
G1 / I Judge him T2 followed by my own impersonate to set up. He was pretty crippled after that and I started taking prizes pretty quick despite him having plume out.
G2 / He starts with multiple pokes, but luckily I got to flash bite both gastly and his spirotmb and take a couple prizes via overconfident until he gets out blaziken fb and lures up my regice for a few turns while he sets up. He starts taking a couple prizes and I misplay by not having all 3 karps discarded, so i couldn't KO his gengar, but eventually catch back up, leveling up DGX and KO'ing blaziken in the same turn. After that, I had played enough trainers to be safe from poltergiest, level down, and was able to take my last two prizes after he poltergeisted a couple times.

6-0

Top 2: Michael - Kingdra/Gengar
Before going into this match, just wanted to say that Michael's probably one of the nicest players in the game. Great guy, always a good match, too. I see this guy doing well and definitely underestimated.
G1 / I open really strong with T2 Gyarados despite the Pitch Darks. I take a few prizes and really pick up steam, getting around 1 fainting spell and him flipping tails on the other. I Judge him early game and he has some trouble setting up. He keeps taking prizes via Spray Splash/Shadow Room and we take it down pretty close, but my OHKO's are a bit too much.
G2 / He explodes with two gengars and a kingdra t2, which was really impressive. He whiffs energy for a turn, which let me set up, but he got it the next turn and KO'd my crobat g thanks to expert belt. In my next turn, I ohko his belted Kingdra, but it's still not enough! He gets another kingdra and spray splashed my pixies/shadow roomed two turns in a row, taking two more prizes and hitting a heads on fainting spell. It comes down to 1-2 his favor. I KO his gengar (with him only having an uxie and energy/less gengar on the field and he hits the fainting spell ftw.
G3 / I get another start like game 1 and he gets a solid start with t2 kigndra, KOing my sableye, to which I return 120 with gyarados. He spray splashes/shadow rooms a few prizes but I get around the fainting spell and flash bit the kingdra, taking a couple more prizes in the process till he was down gengar X with 120 on it and a benched uxie. I cynthia's for 8, get my warp point and can warp point my uxie w/ energy active/regimove his gengar x active FTW. Great games!

7-0

He played Warp Point, bringing his own Uxie Active and his opponent's Uxie active. Then he did Regi Move to bring up the Gengar LV.X.

Nice....

Great job tearing through stuff with Dos.

How did you beat Seth tho lol?

His mews can't attack when Dialga G Lv. X is in play because Time Crystal shuts off his ability to copy Rhyperior Lv. X's attack via Lost Link. This left him only able to attack with things like delcatty (90hp), Giratina (100HP), and mespirit (70hp) which are all easy KO's and do minimal damage.

No, I mean how did you get up the DGX after like 3 Judges/Giratina?

Ah, whatever. Great job!

Kingdra/Gengar got T2?

Wow man, that's amazing. Congrats on your run thus far.

Michael is an awesome guy and a great player, I'm glad to see him playing so well with his deck.

Congrats on the win!

I agree that Michael is a super underrated player. Good to see him getting props here.

Good luck in the rest of CCs man!

No problem on the sleeves, I'm glad to help. Just make sure you pass along the good will when you have the opportunity.

Nice win. See you at Jenks/Tulsa

PS. We call Los Gatos "Monkey Bazooka". We compare it to giving a monkey a Bazooka. It hits so hard and early the monkey can miss but the collateral damage from the bazooka will still wreck everything. It's super fragile like a glass cannon (another good name). Maybe we should call it Glass Bazooka. I'm totally digressing now. Sorry....

Good job again.

Losing is for chumps. And Austin is not a chump.

Great work man, it's good to see you doing so well. Keep it up through the big events and you'll get some paid trips!
