I was there and there were problems.

But I wanted to start a thread to say a sincere thanks to all of the judges who gave up their time to help us all get through the tournament.

I also want to thank the POP staff that gave out extra packs and tried to keep an upbeat and positive attitude throughout the event.

Finally, I wanted to say a special thanks to Psyduck for putting in an appearance that really lifted everyone’s spirits.

Please don’t post rants on this thread. There is already a thread for rants. I ranted there myself. But if you have some positive things to say, please feel free to say them here!

Looking forward to the Stadium Challenge and then to Worlds!

EDIT to add a thanks to all of the other players! I've seen a few complaints, but everyone I played against in all of the Pokemon events was a great sport win or loose.

Pretty sad that NO ONE has anything good to say :( - I'll edit and post more tomorrow after catching up on some sleep and sanity :D...

Props to:

[edit]
* The decision to give out 'consolation prizes' to all (? - probably, if I got it at place 60-something) players in place 17 on down who didn't drop out of Nationals! It basically amounted to a refund (in product) of the entry fee!!!

* League Play all day Friday and Saturday, and cool prize drawings (I GOT A PICHU!!! :D :D) at the end!

* All the people I met there (in no particular order) - Professor Dav, mtjimmer, M_Liesik, Peter & Susan, Ives Roundtree, Lex Luthor, Heidi Craig (and all of Team Florida!), Meganium45, =-->]-[0t (V)uSt|d<--=, banginbox, TuxedoBlack (special greetz!), psychodad, Mr Grass, mysterioustrainer, TheAnswer3, GymLeaderPhil (awesome signed card!!), Bob Krupa, (man, so many people, and so few brain cells :p) Prof. Douglas Zuver, farbman, Steve & Margaret!, Sensei`, anyone I forgot, please PM me a reminder!!! remembered - Feraligatr, paso_1, Crobat1 (thanks to Sensei's photo album!), rocketman, ex-MTM, of course all the crew from MD, VA & NC!, FlipsAreCool (& Curan & Elissa),

* (more to come...)

Hey i wasnt there but i have something positive to say....
Congrats to Ness for Getting I believe 5th or atleast in the T16 After being out of Pokemon for over 9 months I think... So i think it is Awesome that He is that good of a player to come into a torney and be that good is amazing and he just does it all the time he enters a tourny so it isnt just luck it is skill...
Drew

I would like to say thanks to the folks who decided to run league throughout the tournament. This gave players something to do (either try to get people to sign sheets or play matches) and it also gave players some cool free cards. Props to that idea, it was one bright spot when there were no side events for this tournament.

It was Psyduck's pleasure to entertain. I was afraid that he wouldn't get to make an appearance with everything that was going on. I'd originally planned to break out the costume on Friday and Saturday, but a lot of plans fell through over the weekend. Still, I had lots of fun.

alot of thanks to the following people:

The gillete family for going through hell over the weekend and still giving 110% with thier judging.

The POP's-No matter how grim things got they stood tall and made more smiles then forwns. They went through all the complaints and gave the fans some nice smiles to go home with.

The players who stuck through it-(I was one of them) I know this tournmant was hell and i know it was grueling but for all who stayed through it,you showed strenght and showed how true players should be.

The POP's again for the leuage. It was nice for david shwimmer to give a free leauge to all poke players. It gave us something to do when we were bored and also gave nice promos to all who dident get them during the year

Lastly to Mr.Grass-You gave us all a smile with your phyduck costume and when i was aggrivated you calmed me down and helped get me through the next rounds without blowing my top. Thanks again.

Good things

Good things for me about Origins/Nationals:

*Getting to play Pokemon for 14 straight hours (even though only 7 of those games were in the event).

*Earning league promos I was missing through the Origins league.

*Ending up 4-3 after starting 1-3 (ouch).

*All the people I met, or saw again from previous events

*Best of all, for my son winning a trip to Worlds in 10 and under! His feet still haven't touched the floor.

I want to add my thanks to all the judges, organizers, staff, PUI folks, etc who gave their time and energy to give the rest of us a place to play for a day (or a few days). Thanks!

Kudos to everyone who got to go (I didn't :(), got to play, and got to meet all those different trainers from all different parts of the country... Aside from the terrible goings-on at the tournament, you all got some great experience just from playing. Congrats to those who won, and a big thank you to everyone who organized it and tried their best to put up with everything that happened. Keep on keepin' on.

Major Props to:

1) PUI staff - It was a pleasure meeting Jimmer, Dave, Pete, and Mike (Pete see you again at EC Stadium).
2) Judges - Good job overall. This is a tough job (especially at this type of event) and it is impossible to please everyone.
3) Nintendo Booth - Awesome display and giveaways. I had a great time demoing and met several people who used to play that are thinking about getting back into the game.
4) PTO Conference - It was great meeting all the PTO's from across the country. Great meeting with lots of great information!!!
5) All the people my son and I met over the weekend and the people we already knew...Dave and Caitlin it was really great seeing you again (seems like it has been forever). Can't wait to see you at Worlds. Ives it was a pleasure and honor meeting you for the first time. That shopping trip to Meier's was unforgettable!!! Looking forward to seeing you at Worlds...and maybe another shopping trip????

Thanks Jeff! I just loved seeing all the people we know there. I loved seeing the Raleigh crew and the Florida crew at the same event. What fun!

I'll give a big thumbs up to Derek as well. He was a really nice guy and kept his cool.
