Any MAC experts? I could really use some help.

Hello Mac experts, I hope there is someone who can help me out. Here's my situation:

I installed Parallels Desktop (version 2.0 or something, a very old one) because I needed Windows and some software for my classes. It was a copy of a friends, and so I do not own the CD and my friend is currently in a student exchange programme in Australia for the next 6 months. I am done using PArallels and would like to free up the 32GB of hard drive disk space I assigned to it at first and none of the files there are really important to me, so I just want to get rid of it altogether. Is there a way to get rid of this software without having the installation CD to be able to 'uninstall' it and free up those 32GB again?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I believe if you access it from the finder window, you can move it to the trash, like on the windows, and you can also just right click and delete it i believe...

If you fully allocated the drive space (instead of making it grow dynamically) when you installed the Windows OS, then the hard disk image should be the full 32gb. I think Parallels sticks it in your home Documents folder.

And simply deleting that file will free up my HD again? I dont mind still having parallels installed as long as I have thrt free space.

Ryan thanks I'll fb him later today.

Well do a control-click -> Get Info on the image file and see how large it is. If it is indeed the full 32 gb (which I suspect it will be), then yeah, trashing that file would do the trick.

Thanks for the help, I did indeed delte the file, but it was 17GB no the full 32, but that's fine with me. I can definately use all that free space.

if you download a free trial version of Parallels off of www.parallels.com, it allows you to uninstall it. The Virtual Machine OS is located in your Documents folder, you'd have to delete that independently of the uninstallation.
