I am writing a short story and I would like some help on it... since i dont know many writers.. I was wondering if anyone on here could help me with it?

It isn't Pokemon related.. so I cant post it in the fan fic place..

ahh, the essence of all great stories.

im not a real writer, but i did write a 23 page sequal to the short story "Most Dangerous Game" in ninth grade.
the assignment was only sopposed to be 2-4 pages, but i went all out and had so many cool ideas for it, haha.
i do that with all of my cool writing assignments. haha

I did something like that once too. The teacher was disgusted. He had thirty other essays to grade too.

There's an entire fanfic forum here...
Just look at some of the topics there to find out who some good writers here are. Even if your story isn't Pokemon-related, people that write good Pokemon fanfics are probably the most likely candidates to give decent help.

My storys for Grammer/Writing class get good grades. Take it from me you can't go wrong with aliens.:thumb:

As probably one of the best writers on the 'Gym, I have an idea: Write your own bloody story.

It sounds harsh/unconstructive at first glance, yes, but you don't ever get any better by having others help write your story for you. Posting it for feedback is fine and dandy, but "help me write my story" is silly and defeats the entire point of writing something.

I had to write a "sequel" for it as an assignment too... mine was laced with thinly-veiled homosexual undertones because I decided to parrot the style of a bunch of yaoi fanfics. Thankfully the teacher didn't notice or didn't care.

I could help you, if you wish. I'm an amateur novelist, although I'm more in the Fantasy genre.

I could help you on grammar/spelling word placement/idea placement
also general flow/ and generic rhyme sequence.

I think I got a complaint one from a teacher that I write "too poetic" --;
ps I am a mathematics major so I would have an English person with knowledge also help you :O

Epic post.

My advice is to only show your story to those who you completely trust. It is probably better to not show writers; if those not predisposed to reading and critiquing take the time to read it, chances are it's good.

Another thing is that if whatever you're righting is of a personal nature (and with most young writers, the first few pieces have a strong autobiographical theme running through them whether they like it or not), getting advice from a bunch of unproven strangers is hardly going to do your ego any good. Have you read some of the things 'gym members come out with?

One final thing. If your writing is unconventional, people just might not 'get it'. That's fine, if you have enough faith in your work. If not, then showing other people will just change your style of writing will change it for the worse.

Eeeeew, at what point did you think that is something that should be written for the public to see. Control your feelings

I did a Masters degree in Maths; no reason why someone good at maths can't comment on a story!

Depending on how he meant it, this can be a hindrance. In our writing group in college, there was one girl who had a very strongly poetic writing style. As one of the other guys put it, "every line is trying to be the best in the story." It can be very difficult to read a story when the words and lines are trying too hard to impress you individually.

Don't get me wrong, sometimes it works fantastically but it's important to know whether your priority is telling a story or displaying a writing style.

i'm an english lit major currently enrolled in a fiction writing course, i just finished my FIRST short story (hoperully there will be many more!)

i won't write your story for you or anything, but if you want some tips to help you come up with ideas or write or anything, AIM me or PM me :)

I'm a philosophy and creative writing, having completed 2 poetic technique classes, 1 article/essay workshop, got to skip college english (by scoring so well on my ACT to get credit for ENC1101 and by getting a 4 (almost a 5 =\) on my AP Lit exam).

I can write well, but I don't know how much help I could give. I don't wanna sound mean, but you won't be writing anything of real value for at least a few more years. It is good to get into a groove of constant writing and idea expression, and I could probably help you with that and help make changes to your work to make it better overall.

I've taken all sorts of literature classes from a modern lit course to pre-1875 american lit.

Just post whatever you have here and I can quote it and make comments in red. Other people can do the same.
