Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Anyone sick of GG/ Magmortar? *Raises Hand*

yeah it will be even easier to just copy a counter offline after states, because the only reason a lot of people play mag and gg is that they are the most reliable decks you can find online and steal, i play them but it's true, i guess people are actually complaining that other players haven't made new better decks available to be copyed, i know those 2 decks make some experimental decks unusable, but that's just the way it is some ideas just arn't as good as others, you can't blame the player for having such a good deck that a crappy deck won't win, you have to swallow your pride and either play the bdif or play something that can stand an inteligent chance and depend on luck and skill to do the rest

gg and mag will win but there will be so many successful counters and independently successful decks like hurricane, blissey might evenmake a comeback

At states today I saw 90% of the competitors playing G&G. Dang should have went with a pure counter but I thought there would have been some kind of change.

i wish i went to you guys's states i played bannette and didn't face a single one, in fact i didn't face mag either but i would have struggled if i had,

Salamence Ex :water: is your solution.

  • 160HP water dragon
  • resistance to BOTH :fire: and :fighting:
  • OHKOs Magmortar X
  • OHKOs Magmortar SW
  • OHKOs Typhlosion
  • Gallade could flip ALL prizes and still not KO it by 10
  • You can choose to hit the active AND snipe for 40 instead when you're not in a pinch
  • Type switch when you're presented with random :grass: decks
  • A monster with Unown G.

There it is, the card that beats both BDIF. Yeah, it needs 4 Energy to attack, but that's why we have Altaria :water:; Swellow :fire: retreats it for free; Xatu :dark: makes it deadlier... so many combos, so little play. Why?

because it's slow and a lot less consistant than a dp deck, gallade and mag are fast and they keep coming, salamence is probably just hide till you get one set up and then use one, lose two prizes for doing so, then hide till you get another setup

all those techs will be hard to get out since salamence is so slow and requires so much steam, i'm sure it can beat them with it when you get a god start, but decks like that don't win tournies

i've heard of a lot of people "come up with" salamence but i hope none of them would ever play it at states, because decks that need god starts to win don't get them at tournies

idk correct me if i'm wrong anyone that played salamence yesterday if you won or top cut with it

I realize that there are some counters for both decks

theres plenty of decks that do well against both of them, you don't have to play 1 of 2 decks, play something else but don't expect it to be as easy to make a successful list as it is to make a gallade decks or mag deck,

Being mad at people won't keep them from playing a deck you don't like, so you might as well do something about it. That's what I've been doing for the past couple months and we'll see how well it pays off on Saturday.

The same thing happens every format.

There are top decks that do well at cities, every single person on Pokegym complains
Somebody comes up with a new deck that does well at States
Everybody on Pokegym copies that deck for week 2 of states
Everybody then complains on how the new deck is too good

Followed by countless threads in this forum. Every time.

I dunno how long you've been playing this game...But I can tell you...That in the 10yrs I've been playing, Its the same thing.

Winning decks dominate the environment early season, rogue decks dominate late season.

Get over it.

Check the "Who won States" thread. Not a big change from Cities so far. :frown:

I really do hope something new pops up though.

Oh yeah...

*raises hand*

Right now I'm not playing GG or Mag for states, and I'm much worried about Sceptile lol.

I played a couple games against Sally, and it seems like a total joke. Far too slow to counter decks that are that fast. Don't count out every non-dp deck, though... *evil laugh*

1 of the basic and 2 of the evolution? Doubt it.

com'on people be creative thease decks are annoying and almost always the same. Its just unfair that people who work really hard on a cool stratagey but cant play them because everyone else is mirroring eachother. There needs to be more diversity at states.

Out of all things consider. Think about this for a min.. There is a weakness to GG and Magmortar. Its really simple. Play a deck that there not familliar with. Like for example I played Torterra at my states and i made Top cut and finished 5th. Im proud of my deck and the work i put into it. To me it is a great accomplishment. But my point is this most players who play GG and Magmortar are used to playing one of the other or battling something that there weak two or is a threat. One of the reasons i did so good with Torterra is because I have been playing it for a year and a month now. And i can not tell you how many GG and Magmortar decks I have gone against to Win and Lose against them. Yes I have beaten Magmortar and I just want to say Its not easy but i have done it. So i give my respect to those who play GG and Magmortar. But I Raise my hand for the sick and tired part.

I wonder why nobody is playing Garchomp.

I got 2nd at States with a Garchomp deck (1st was Magmortar/Delcatty, but even if I lost it was very close and the matchup is quite ok). Claydol gives great draw Power and Togekiss helps to easily build up a second Garchomp long before the first is knocked out. Using PlusPowers, it OHKOs anything up to 130 HP if needed, and G&G can't OHKO more than one Garchomp during a game. I didn't have any problems against standard Gardy, the only disadventage is that the deck isn't able to snipe in any way, that's what made me lose to Scramble Magmortar.

Just because most people aren't able to build good decks without Gardy or Magmortar it doesn't mean that there aren't any other strong decks to play at States.

I had an awesome list for Garchomp/Lunasol but I didn't play it because Blissey is huge here...there were 2 in top 4 Seniors and at least 1 in top 4 Masters.
