Oh thats gold right there, thats gold..... Yeah Pokegym is really dishin' out the April foolishness. I do partially agree with Blazi-King though, animal cruelty shouldn't be taken lightly. I understand it was a joke, but I think some of the graphicness was taken a BIT to far. Pretty stupid comments on that link by the users though.

i don't understand the 'animal cruelty shouldn't be taken lightly' comments: the *fictional* article was about an ARREST, not advocating 'zomg makeen nmls fight 2 teh deth is teh BOMB!!11!!1 u shud do it 2!!11!'

i mean, srsly? what is the premise of the anime, upon which the TCG the 'gym covers is based, about? training your pet to 'battle', no? so why are people screaming that we're ADVOCATING animal cruelty by posting a satirical article showing what the likely results would be IF pokemon were REAL...which BTW, they are *not*...

i just don't get it. :frown::confused: do people really think the photoshopped yellow rat is real, too?

Recent developments in the Illegal Pokemon Fighting Ring has also reported one Michael Vick head quarterback of the Atlanta Falcons was arrested at one of the illegal rings for using his Houndoom to fight other Houndooms and Granbulls. Vick was recently suspended from the NFL for similar offenses.

In Pokemon, when Pikachu gets KO'ed, he is still able to smile when Ash talks to him, and tries to comfort him and tell him that he still did great or whatever. I think thats more than what abused animals in the real world can do. In the anime, pokemon appear to be MEANT for battling.

I don't think many animals in this world were designed for battling outside of minor self defence/proving to be the alpha male and natural stuff like that. If Pokemon were real, no "pokemon" would have had to have been put to sleep, they would just spend a night at the pokemon center. No arrest would have been made, but the criminals would have been sufficently blasted by officer Jenny's Growlithe and would be blasting off again. Sorry, world doesn't work like that.

The anime is VERY different from this world, and the cruelty to animals is very different. I'm not saying and do not think that this is what would happen if Pokemon were real. I just think the way it was presented really came across as though animal cruelty was being taken lightly. Again, I thought it was funny, just not so much in the realm of animal cruelty.

Man......we do the same thing w/cards and in the games, but you don't see any Police Officers arresting us for those "crimes."
